Re: Elf Prince—A Degenerate's Second Chance-Chapter 74. Attack Of The Beast Kin
74. Attack Of The Beast Kin
Garult and Deet who had been shocked by how quickly Larius had died now came to terms with the gravity of the situation before them. Their opponent was a beast skin dressed in battle wear and armed with a pair of shorts words. From the figure’s shape it could be seen to be a female as she had curves at certain angles. The sun was setting and adding a saturated colour to the forest making the puddle of blood look animated.
Beast kin was the title given to the humanoid beast creatures that inhibited a portion of the elf empire. They were know to keep to themselves and were quite territorial. Some scholars even indicated that they were one of the first species to lay claim to the world of magic. They were said to be savages but we’re really like humans with animal accessories growing from parts of their body. They also had abilities that were superhuman and linked to those of the beast powers they had.
Like the beast kin they had before them now, it looked to be a young female and apparently a girl in her teens. She had a well rounded face with red plum cheeks, she also had huge expressive orange eyes and her hair was bright orange hair that flowed down to her chin. Her body looked smooth and slightly curved under the skintight battle suit she wore. There were straps on one leg and on her back. She looked very much like a cute child’s doll that was used to carry out a nefarious act that betrayed it’s initial design.
Beast Kin also went by different names like beast people, beast skin, beastials, zoans. The terms just went on and on.
The young beast kin’s eyes shone a dark orange radiance as she started to walk forward to the two male members of the nameless head party and leaving behind the frightened Elise to lie on the floor behind her. Her steps were very slow and calculated like a beast stalking it’s prey, with each step her hip swayed ever so slightly as if adjusting her weight to the very world. Her opponents soon noticed a strange thing about the way she moved, there was no sound of her footsteps. Rather it seemed like she walked a plane that was not affected by the world they lived in.
By her hips were two small silver sickled that reflected the orange light of the setting sun. Garult stood next to Deet was was still bleeding from the space left when he had half of his right palm cut off. Despite being enemies they chose to put their battle on hold without discussing it. They were both experienced hunters that could be considered a level below veterans and they knew when it was necessary to put away all strife when it came to a matter of survival.
Garult’s murderous smile shone on his face again showing that he was brimming with confidence or was he faking it? "A lone babe dares to attack us, quite bold of you. I wonder how much a beast person’s head will sell on the black market."
On saying this the beast girl’s eyes darkened by the slightest millimetre. She looked very very much like a normal human teenage girl, what distinguished her as a beastial was the pair of orange cat-like ears on her head and the long tail swaying gently behind her. Her hands also bore visible claws and she was barefooted. She said nothing as she suddenly burst off the ground with explosive force.
The first to react to this was the earth mage Deet who sensed the movement before it happened, he conjured up an earth wall to defend them hoping to stall her while Garult could plan a strong counter. He fully believed in his approach but there was a flaw in his plan and not an evident one.
"Dammit!" Garult cursed as he tried to put as much distance as he could between him and the wall of stone. It was his first time facing a beast kin and despite it being a child he was overly cautious. Unlike kids from the elf empire or human nations who maintained a sense of liberty and control children raised in the wilds were actually as dangerous as the beast themselves. If there was anything he wanted then it was to see his opponent rather than put up walls.
Deet who was oblivious of Garult’s action mistook it for a strategic retreat or perhaps he was betraying him. He started to walk backwards with his eyes still on the wall. Unlike Garult he was not fast. There was no way a beast kin could climb the wall so the only option was left or right, this gave the earth mage and idea.
Instead of retreating he walked into the wall of earth he had crested and his body sunk into it. He held his breath and stayed there believing in the ultimate defense earth provided. If he was lucky the beast kin would focus on Garult rather than him, a second later he realised just how wrong he was.
The long shaft of a short sword pierced through the wall of earth and impaled his throat. Because of the density of the earth it only managed to cut in a little but it was enough to startle him.
There was a cacophony of noise ringing in the earth mage’s head at the moment. "Am I going to die right now? If I stay here I will bleed to death, if I leave that damn beast girl will cut me to pieces just like Larius. Shit why did that bitch have to die so soon. Why did I have to coke up with such a crazy plan? It’s all my fault, how should I have known that a beastial would be here."
As he was bombarded by the mass of thoughts he started to feel lightheaded as his eyes rolled back. The last fades of sunlight embraced him as his wall of earth was shattered as well the blade drove right through his neck. He opened his mouth to say something but ended up gurgling up blood instead.
"Dammit it all, so this how I die.". The thought as he fell to the ground.
Garult who had long since abandoned the notion of teaming up with such a fool stood at a dtsiance and looked at the beastial soaked in paints of red. In the night air her orange eyes glowed with eeriness and a quiet calm.
"I guess there’s no use running if you know this place like the hair on you head. I wonder just how much your head will cost." As he said this he dashed forward to brace his opponent.
