Chapter 136: A Small Butterfly Effect

Inside a dimly lit chamber.

"Where am I? Huh? Who is this beautiful maiden?" Yuhan muttered, his panicked voice rising slightly.

The girl beside him stirred and slowly opened her eyes. She sat up, blinking at the unfamiliar surroundings, then stood and turned her sharp gaze toward him.

"Where is this place? I was with my Master just a moment ago. Did you kidnap me?" Tian Yue asked, her voice cold and sharp like a blade.

Yuhan’s heart trembled at the sudden killing intent radiating from the young maiden.

"N-no, I swear I didn’t. I don’t know where we are either," he stammered, holding his hands up. "I was in my village, and the next thing I knew, I was here."

Tian Yue narrowed her eyes, not entirely convinced. But just then, something strange occurred.

"Argh!"

Both of them clutched their heads at once as if gripped by a searing pain. Their breathing turned ragged, and their knees buckled for a moment.

Then the pain faded.

They slowly looked up at each other, eyes wide with realization and shock.

Somehow, they had both received the same thing—memories. Clear and vivid memories of the past fourteen days, even though they had been unconscious the entire time.

What they had seen, what they had done, the battles, the choices, the losses—everything was etched into their minds now.

Even Igaris had failed to account for this small but crucial mistake. He had assumed they would wake up with fragments of dementia, making them easier to guide or manipulate. But now, everything had changed.

An awkward silence hung in the air as both Yuhan and Tian Yue became painfully aware of the truth. Their bodies had been physically connected during the time their souls were overtaken by unknown entities.

Tian Yue finally broke the silence. "We need to inform the Supreme Elders. If anyone knows how to fix this, it’s them."

"But what about Igaris?" Yuhan said, anxiety creeping into his voice. "He’s powerful and terrifying. What if he decides to kill us once he returns?"

Tian Yue narrowed her eyes slightly but didn’t dismiss the concern. "That’s a risk. But hiding the truth will only make things worse. If he truly intended to harm us, he could have done so already. The fact that he let us go means something."

Yuhan bit his lip. "I hope you’re right. I really do. But..."

"Argh, stop dillydallying, you moron. We need to do it now," Tian Yue snapped and grabbed his hand without hesitation.

Yuhan froze, stunned by the sudden touch. It was the first time he had ever felt the delicate hand of a girl, and for a moment, he simply let her lead without resistance.

But neither of them knew that another unexpected obstacle was already waiting outside.

Inside Aunt Sophia’s cozy dining room, the scent of warm spices and simmering broth filled the air. Igaris and Shirley sat side by side at the wooden table, their post-dive exhaustion easing with every passing moment of familiarity.

Sophia moved gracefully between the kitchen and table, placing dishes one by one. Steamed rice, herb-marinated beast meat, stir-fried roots, and clear vegetable soup filled the space with comfort neither of them realized they had missed.

"I added a few spirit herbs to the soup," she said while setting down the last bowl. "Good for your internal exhaustion. Eat up, you two."

"Thank you, Aunt," Igaris said softly, clasping his hands in thanks before picking up his chopsticks.

Just then, he felt a kick from Shirley under the table. Her ruby eyes were telling to change the name of adress soon.

Igaris let out a dry cough.

They began eating in quiet harmony. Snorting, Shirley chewed slowly, savoring every bite. For days, all they had tasted was unfamiliar foods.they weren’t bad, still nothing can be compared to home cooked food.

"Do you remember the first time we sat here like this?" Sophia asked, sitting down with a mug of tea. "You were both covered in bruises, and Igaris had a cracked rib."

Shirley chuckled between bites. "He still blamed me for that fight."

"You charged at me first," Igaris said dryly.

"And you stepped on my foot!"

The room filled with a light laughter. It wasn’t forced. It was real. For a moment, the weight of destiny and war lifted off their shoulders.

After a while, the cheerful air in the room dimmed as Sophia’s face grew tense. Her smile faded, and a crease formed on her forehead. Igaris noticed the change immediately.

"Aunt, you look tired and troubled. Did something happen while we were away?" he asked, his tone soft but serious.

Shirley paused mid-bite, setting down her chopsticks. Her gaze sharpened with concern.

"Yes, there’s no need to keep it from us. Igaris is strong now. He can handle anything," she added, her voice brimming with trust and quiet admiration.

Sophia glanced between the two of them. There was a strange feeling blooming in her heart as she watched them. Something unspoken passed between them, a connection deeper than mere words. But she pushed the thought aside. Right now, something else weighed heavier on her heart. freeweɓnovel~cѳm

"Igaris," she said, her voice lowering, "I think those people have finally found this place. Lately, I have had the strong sense that I’m being watched. Followed. No matter where I go."

Shirley’s face turned pale. "Are you sure, Mom? You haven’t left the house in nearly ten years. How could they possibly track Igaris back to you?"

Sophia nodded slowly. "They must have dug through the ruins of our past. Perhaps someone was tasked to trace every thread connected to the Vance family. It seems they are truly determined."

Just then, another voice joined in.

"Lady Sophia is right, Young Master," said Butler Jeffrey, stepping forward from the hallway. His brows were furrowed with concern. "I noticed a few unfamiliar figures lurking near the outer street while closing the window. They didn’t look like locals."

Sophia turned to Igaris again. "You have to leave, immediately. They may have seen you enter. Staying longer will put us all at risk. Once you are powerful enough, you can come back. But for now, don’t worry about us. We’ve hidden this long. We will endure."

Despite Shirley’s earlier confidence, Sophia did not fully believe it. In her eyes, true strength took time, years of battles and suffering. She could not imagine they had already reached such a point.

Igaris was relaxed on his chair as he casually asked,

"Butler Jeffrey, can you tell me just how many Mythics currently exist in whole Earth State?"
