Rearing Demons-Chapter 25: Celis
Chapter 25: Celis
Celis and his group trekked through the sandy region. Though, sandy would be incorrect. The ground itself was made from ashes, remains of burnt flesh and bones.
Pillars of bones with dangling sinew, air carrying the eerie wails of mourning souls, and pools of demonic essence resembling open wounds on the ground, filled the desolate region.
Demons were uncommon, despite the vast lands. They seemed to hide behind jagged black spires, resembling gravestones.
"Celis, how confident are you in facing Aglazeth?" The second in charge was actually the second strongest Luminous Heart disciple of the Fiend Devouring sect. Though he was a single rank below Celis, their strength was akin to the different between the sky and earth.
None of them were confident in facing a rank six Kyrrath's, let alone a Valgath demon. They could only compete with Gralith demons, and even then barely.
Jumping a realm was not common, especially if the opponent was a demon.
Celis stopped moving while hiding behind a bone pillar. His fawn cloak fluttering in the wailing winds. "I don't think I can face a Valgath. Especially a Prince."
"Then what are we doing?" The second in strength, Fyr, grabbed Celis' shoulder, looking at him with horror. "We should leave! If we get caught, death would be a blissful end!"
Gently removing the mans hand from his shoulder, he smiled at them. "Don't worry, I have a plan."
"What plan?" They inquired, not wanting to stay in the dark. Their lives were on the line after all.
"That's a secret." Placing a finger on his lips, he winked at them, seemingly unbothered by the situation. "But first, let's kill a few more Kyrrath's. The more we kill, the higher we will place, thus the better the reward." His eyes gleamed with a green light, a comical look of greed.
Seeing this expression, the rest sighed.
Although he was the most powerful core disciple, Celis was known to be a greedy individual. All he thought about was winning and making money. Plus, he was also a hoarder, so he never sold or threw away his belongings. Just collecting them in some rooms.
We're screwed.
"Alright, follow me." Carefully moving around the pillar, a smirk was smeared across his handsome face, his eyes gleaming. "Over there should be a another Kyrrath." From a silver ring on his finger, he summoned a tattered journal. Flipping through the pages, he found one and stopped. "It's called a Mawstrider. They are a part of Aglazeth's reserves." He read the passage about them with a maniacal smile. Excitement plastered on his face.
"Celis, did you intentionally skip over this part?" Fyr glared at his friend and pointed at a line he obviously skipped. "Read it again. The Mawstriders move in groups of five to six, patrolling the perimeter with a single Husked Lord leading them!"
"That's not important." He waved his hand, shooing Fyr away. "Trust me, I can handle the Husked Lord and the Mawstriders."
"Are you dumb?" Fyr frowned. "A Husked Lord is considered a demi-Valgath! They are completely different from regular Kyrrath!"
"But that would also mean if we kill this group, we're going to get a lot of points." His eyes glazed with excitement, ignoring the fear seeping from his team.
Fyr, the only one that could argue with Celis, stood up for the rest of them. "Pick something else. If it was one of two, it would have been fine, but a group of Kyrrath as well as a demi-Valgath is no joke."

Celis glanced the faces of his team and sighed sadly. He felt the points slip away. "Then what do you suggest? If we want to kill Aglazeth, we will be facing stronger foes!'
"We don't want to kill Aglazeth, you do!" He strained his words, wanting Celis to understand what was going on. "We all want to head back to the Eyes of Dripping Blood. Even the borders of Gravesong Wastes is a better place then where we are."
"But what's the point of training if we don't push ourselves? Going back to the Eyes of Dripping Blood is equivalent to going back to a safe zone!" Celis disagreed with his team. He understood he was stronger, but he also understood what allowed him to get to such a strength. Practice!
"Look, you're going to follow us back to the border. Help us get a few kills and once we get used to a Kyrrath, we will follow your lead, alright" Fyr was conscious of his friends desires, but he had to think for the group. They would die if they followed Celis' plan.
"You guys are so boring." With a defeated sigh, he finally assented. "Fine! If two of you are able to kill a single Kyrrath, we are rushing back here, alright?"
"Agreed." The rest quickly nodded.
With hushed movements, they turned around and dashed away, returning back to the borders of the Gravesong Wastes.

"So, where are you leading me?" Yur and Ris had been running further away from the Barren Canyon, entering deep into the Land of the Mother.
Ris didn't reply right away though, keeping silent as she lead him.
Although her goal was the Barren Canyon, she had time, lots of it. Expedition and missions given by the sect rarely lasted only a few weeks. Most lasted many months or even years.
Not getting an answer, Yur decided not probe any further, rather he started a conversation with Zul in his head instead.
Zul, what is a Guardian sect? When he was still a slave, he did learn of the word sect, but what it meant was foreign to him.
|——————————————————————|
Guardian Sect
A school or gathering for talented disciples! Tasked to defend vital entries into Zulmasharr.
The Guardian sects represent the strongest bastions of humanity, containing the most talented individuals!

This girl is from a place like that? He was a bit surprised. While in his own thoughts, Zul suddenly loaded up some prompts for him. Scrutinizing the new dialogues, he tried to peel more information from her. "Of the five, which Guardian sect are you from?"
She kept silent again.
Getting a bit irritated, he decided to eat something. Accessing his Pendant, he was about to pull an imp out before a screen flashed brightly in front of him.
[Host is advised not to eat Demons!]
[Host is advised not to eat Demons!]
[Host is advised not to eat Demons!]
[Host is advised not to eat Demons!]
His vision was utterly filled with these notification. Alright alright, Zul stop!
[Host will be killed if he is found out!]
Inwardly nodding, a frowned formed on his face. Hunger was beginning to frustrate him. His appetite was sizeable, so he food was a constant need.
[Host can purchase Aflorian food from the shop!]
Without much thinking he quickly opened up the shop and bought anything with meat. It spawned in his pendant, so he swiftly pulled it out.
A large drumstick oozing with a red sauce appeared in his hand. Impatiently, he took a large bite, a crunch erupting in the surroundings.
Ris heard the sound and looked back, only to see Yur devouring drumsticks with the bone!
Halting, she turned back and looked at him. "Alright, let's rest for a bit." She was also beginning to get a bit hungry. All the running around did expend a bit of her energy.
Yur sat down and began to purchase various kinds of food and drinks. Luckily, the cost was low, especially since it was all mortal foods, nothing with real nourishment for a person like him.
From her spatial ring, Ris took her own food out, something that exuded a delicious fragrance, catching Yur's attention.
Even though he wanted to taste whatever it was she had, his focus was still on his own food for the most part.
Constantly chewing, eating, and swallowing, and then buying some more.
"Did you only fill your spatial item with food?" A look of confusion manifested on her face.
He ignored her. Focusing on his meal's.
Seeing this, she didn't push and continued to eat herself.
Both rested only for half an hour before getting back on the move.
"We are heading to a place known as the Gravesong Wastes." Finally, she revealed a bit of her direction. "It is a place filled with Gralith and Kyrrath. A Valgath rules the place as well."
Narrowing his eyes, he questioned her. "Will you be able to handle a Kyrrath?"
"I should be fine." Not delving too much into her own strength, she gave a brief reply. "On the way to this region, we will have to pass through the Eyes of Dripping Blood. That will be where you will get some training."
He nodded, not talking too much.
"Also, once we are in the Gravesong Wastes, we will likely run into an individual named Celis!" Mentioning this name, a look of impatience appeared.
"Understood." He didn't pry. Though there was slight curiosity, it wasn't that strong.
"We will stay in the Eyes of Dripping Blood for exactly one month. From there, we will move to the next location. Any questions?" She was surprised that Yur didn't have much to ask, but it worked in her favour.
"What?" He jolted at the timeframe. A month was much too long! "I can't for that long."
"Why?" She looked at him questionably. "Are you not here for training?"
Zul quickly loaded some responses for him. "I have my own methods of training. I just need to help you save a few people and then we can go our own ways." He said without batting an eye. "I have goals of my own."
"To get demons?" She spoke inquisitively, though her expression showed more accusation.
"That is not your concern." He didn't give her information, or atleast Zul thought that was the best reply.
"Well, if you want to separate, we can do so now as long as you share that move of yours." She said with a smirk. "We are going through this hassle since you want to have a trade with me."
"I won't give my ability to you for free." A frown formed on his face. "I may not be from a big sect like you, but that doesn't mean I am a push over."
"You are a push over." She replied curtly. "If all of my kills were not being recorded, you would be dead by now."
"Oh?" When he heard this, he raised an eyebrow.
[Information collected!]
"Don't be confused." Noticing Yur's face showing some doubt, she added more. "I may avoid killing, but I can definitely chop off your arms and legs. And worst case, I can still kill you and find an excuse."
Yur was not fearful of such threats. His body felt no pain.
"Anyways, this benefits you and I. It may seem like a long time, but you can definitely practice on a large number of Zorath." Hearing the final part of her words, Yur's eyes gleamed.
Zorath? That was exactly what he needed. If he could trap a few that would make things much easier for him.
"Many of my sect members will be there as well, so you may be able to learn a thing or two." The more she explained, the brighter his eyes got.
Ris felt an unusual aura from behind and couldn't help but stare back.
There, she saw a malicious aura seeping Yur. It was subtle, barely perceivable, but definitely there. What a blood thirty aura.
