Rearing Demons-Chapter 26: Eyes of Dripping Blood
Chapter 26: Eyes of Dripping Blood
Yur had been conversing with Zul, wanting to figure out the plan. Based on Zul, he could create Blood Sigils within his Cyralim and store them there.
Only things that were bound to his soul or physical flesh were storable within the Cyralim, at least for now.

However, once the Sigil had the being inside, it could not be stored into the Cyralim. Not only that, but there was a certain process required to store the being within. It was not a simple task; it was a separate ritual, increasing the difficulty by a landslide.
[Though Host may lose a few Ritual Fruits by being late, learning combat and gathering items for the Rite of the Blood Dominion is more important!]
Understood. Zul's words were dependable. He had never let him down, at least in these types of situations.
"Alright, we should reach the region Eyes of Dripping Blood soon. Before that, what weapon do you use?" Stopping before a large tree, she looked at him with a probing gaze. Yur had noticed this during their journey; she was always watching him—reading him.
"I don't have a weapon. I am a hand-to-hand combatant." He never needed one since his body was equivalent to weapons. Since he was now beyond a human and demon after the Ritual of the Successor, that was even more the case.
Whether it was his claws, his fists, tail, wings, all of these were weapons. Even his hair, which could burn, was a weapon in some situations.
"You're a body cultivator?" She was bewildered by his words. Body cultivators were rare, especially among rogue cultivators. It was an expensive route. "What about your seed?"
[She is referring to the Seed of the Orb inside of the host!]
Oh? Mine is still not done with whatever it is it's doing. Understanding what Ris meant, he replied casually, "Mine is still growing, so I don't know what it will turn into."
"I see." She nodded. "Mine didn't awaken until the third rank; Ignited Core. That's normal." She then pointed at the tree she stood beside. "Punch this tree for me."
"Why?" he wondered.
"Just do it. I want to see your strength."
"Ok." Nodding, he walked over. Standing before the beautiful tree, which seemed to be sprouting some sort of yellow fruit, he clenched his fists tightly. Raising his arm with his body swinging back, his fist cut through the wind, producing an explosive sound!
Watching from the side, Ris was shocked by the strength. Not only did he obliterate the tree, but a few of the surrounding trees were destroyed by the wind he produced as well. This is physical strength? I didn't sense any essence in that!
Yur looked at the destruction, equally shocked. Woah, I'm so strong now. I didn't even use that much strength!
"So, how was that?" Looking back at the girl, who seemed dazed, he called out, pulling her out of her stupor.
Clearing her throat, she gave a quick nod. "That was good. Your strength is similar to a Morruk in brute force, reaching even the Tharok. If you combine it with those flames, a Tharok would be fodder for you."
"Though I want to do that, the flames are still not something I can control," he admitted while shaking his head.
"Most unique abilities take time to master." Pulling a sword from her ring, she threw it over. "Take this. It's a regular sword. I want you to practice with it."
"Regular sword?" Grabbing the hilt, he felt that it was awfully light. Not just light, but it seemed brittle.
Walking toward a surviving tree, he lifted it and gave it a light swing.
Watching half of the sword break, he became even more confused. Staring back at Ris, only doubt lay on his face.
"I noticed that, though you have great strength, it is all uncontrolled." Shaking her head, she pulled out another sword from her ring, tossing it over. "If you are able to fight using just a regular sword, without breaking it, you will have mastered your strength to a higher level."
He nodded his head, not questioning any further. If it benefited him, why not?
"Now then, let's enter this place and get to work." Turning around, she led him into the new region.
It was different, incompatible with what Zulmasharr represented.
The ground was made of a sort of diseased flesh, which gave a squelching sound. The air stank of iron and blood, and there was a very pungent odor. The ground pulsed, convulsed, and moved as if it were still alive—struggling. It was a festering, grotesque wasteland.
Even the structures within were not beautiful. Jagged stalactites of what seemed like hardened pus formed yellowed icicles protruding from the ground. There were pools of congealed blood that bubbled randomly, releasing spurts of rancid air. Everything about the place made even Yur a little disgusted.
"Disgusting." Ris pulled a piece of cloth from her ring and placed it over her petite nose, her eyebrows knitting.
[Zulmasharr Quest: Kill the Gralith—Mother of Pus!]
[The Gralith Ruling this region is a stain to Zulmasharr! Kill her and turn this region and the Northern area of the Land of Mother into a protected region!]
[Reward: 2000 Demon Points!]
A new quest. Something beyond his level. Seeing it, Yur nodded inwardly. He didn't feel things the same way now; everything was more dulled, so the quest didn't make him tremble in fear or roar in anger. It was just a bit surprising.
The reward of the quest was a bit enticing. Not the points, but the fact that his protected region would extend. That would be very helpful, allowing him to remove all threats.
If the Barren Canyon were nearby, he would have escaped to it, but Ris was much stronger and likely faster as well, so there was no reason to take such risks.
Zul, create a few more quests for this region. I can try to earn more points. Although Zul could not create quests that were too easy, he was still capable of creating them to benefit Yur. That was the point of them, after all.
[Generating Quests...]
[Complete!]

Yur scanned the various quests, reading through them. Some even included Aflorian quests.
[Afloria Quest: Help Disciples Kill Mother of Pus!]
[Disciples are aiming to kill the Gralith, help them and reduce the suspicions Ris has on you!]
[Reward: 200 Human Points!]
Zul, why are the points reduced so much for this quest? It's the same as the first one, no? Seeing the points for the Afloria side reduced by so much, doubt filled his mind.
[The requirement for this quest it to help kill the Gralith, while the first was to kill it. Very different difficulties!]
Even though it still wasn't something he could fully grasp, he nodded his head nonetheless.
"Look over there." As they trudged over the meaty ground, Ris pointed in a particular direction.
Peering that way, Yur found a large tower. It seemed better constructed than the demon fortress he'd captured before.
"What's that?" he asked.
"That should be an Antic Tower."
"Antic Tower?"
"The native demons of this place are known as Antics, with the stronger ones called Weeping Lords," she explained. "Antic demons are generally Zorath in rank, with Weeping Lords being what we call demi-Gralith."
"Demi?" The term was foreign, not something he was used to hearing.
"'Demi' essentially means halfway there. A demi-Gralith is still a Zorath, but at the peak of that stage, bordering the next realm so closely that a single step is all they need," she elaborated. The detail in her explanation seemed incongruous with her aloof demeanor.
He found traveling with her strangely contradictory. She'd nearly killed him earlier, but now she was almost guiding him.
Listening to her continuous explanations, Yur silently directed Zul to keep a close watch on her. She was too odd.
