Chapter 34: An upcoming guild.

"Ohhh, now I see why Miss Alice was blushing yesterday."

"Hmm yes yes, Ria, let’s draw on his face. Hehe."

"No uhn, don’t do that."

The female voices echoed.

"But... I have the marker and everything..."

"Give it to me, I’ll hold it."

"No, I found it, so I’ll keep it. Time to drawwwww~"

"Don’t you dare!"

Baaam!

The two small girls fell on Adonis’s body.

Adonis woke up, his eyes almost popping out of his head from the impact.

Owwwwww!

Now coming to his senses, he noticed the two girls lying on his stomach, both their hands holding the marker that was directly pointing to his face.

At the side were the other children, one of whom was Beako, hiding behind the curtains.

"S... sorry," the two girls apologized.

Well, it wasn’t like Adonis was going to listen to them.

Before they knew it, they were kneeling in front of him while he sat on the bed.

Since the rest of the four children had nothing to do with him waking up, they safely sat on the bed behind him, some holding his shoulder, others resting their bodies on him.

Beako, on the other hand, sat between his legs, playing with his finger.

From what Adonis could remember, after he cured the last cursed child, Terra, he immediately lost consciousness due to the mental strain.

Alice was the one who brought him into the building so he could rest properly.

"Only a second day gone. I guess I could roll with that. Filo should understand," he thought.

"Mr."

Adonis looked at the girl still kneeling in front of him.

"It was her fault. She wanted to draw on your face. I was trying to stop it."

It seems her confession left the other girl in shock as she immediately tried to defend herself while swearing uncontrollably.

"I no... I didn’t even know what a marker was at that point... I... hahah, w...hat a liar."

Adonis sighed.

"What is your name?" His question caused them to calm down.

"Juki."

"Seraphin."

"Weird names..." he thought.

[Your relationship with this character is 76%.]

[Your relationship with this character is 82%.]

Adonis wasn’t really sure why their relationship scores were that high.

Perhaps it was because he saved them, and now they felt some kind of connection toward him.

On the off chance that that was the case, what would happen if they reverted back to their old ways? When he is no longer able to cure them.

Once he heads back to his hometown, it would be difficult for him to keep coming back to the sacred lands just to cure them.

And if he was being honest, the cursed children are far better than most people he had met since he reincarnated into the novel.

Despite living in isolation and hate all their lives, they still radiate with love and respect.

Something the original author of the novel failed to mention.

As he sat there in thought, the girls looked at him, waiting to hear what he would say next.

He finally spoke...

"Would you like to follow me to a different city?"

The question came as a shock to the girls, at least from Adonis’s perspective.

"I would have suggested you join my party, but I can’t have you risking your lives for that. Instead, if you were to join my guild as workers rather than adventurers, then I’m sure that would suffice. Better than living in a forest, and I can actually look after you guys."

The girls all stared, their eyes fixed on him.

"Why is Mr. Adonis speaking like we didn’t intend to follow him to begin with?"

That was Beako, now standing on the bed, her hands cupping Adonis’s cheeks.

"We already spoke to Alice about it, and she said we can follow her to the city. We may not look it, but we can fight—more than most people—so you don’t have to worry about us getting hurt," she continued.

"Yeah, and I really want to fight like Alice does. It looks so cool! A real badass thing."

"I feel the same too. After everything she has done, this is the least way I feel we can repay that."

Each girl seemed to have an opinion on the matter.

Listening to them, Adonis could only give a slight chuckle at their boldness.

"Do you have any idea what joining a guild means?" he asked.

"Uhm... fighting bad guys?" Beako responded.

"I guess you can say that. You’re not totally wrong." Adonis placed his hand on her back. "It also means having to put your loyalty above all else, even during difficult times. Your guild members are your family; trust should always be the main factor. Do you think that is something any of you can do? Trusting another person is not so easy."

Beako smiled. "Is that to say you trust us then? If you do, then you’d let us join your guild without any worries."

Adonis sighed. He had cornered himself with his very own words.

"Fine, you win. Gather the others. You need to do something before I can decide who gets to fight and who doesn’t."

The girls smiled, two of them running out of the door to call the others.

Later that very day, all 11 of the cursed children were seated on the ground in front of Adonis while he sat at the edge of the bed.

[Name: Terra.

Rank: D rank, Fighter.

Special ability: None.]

[Name: Beako.

Rank: D rank, Mage.

Special ability: None.]

[Name: Fiona.

Rank: D rank, Healer.

Special ability: None.]

Every single one of them was at least D rank or lower and had no special ability to speak of.

Well, considering they were 8–11 at best, it was to be expected.

Still, Adonis somehow had a good relationship with all of them, meaning they had a high probability of getting high ranks after he upgraded them.

[Would you like to upgrade their ranks?]

{Yes.} or {No.}

Adonis replied, "Yes."

Like every other upgrade he had done, he watched as the dark strings from his body began to coat themselves around the children.

They didn’t seem bothered by it; rather, they were curious as to what it was.

Not a single one of them had any hint of fear.

Before they knew it, it was over and done with.

[Congratulations, you have upgraded their ranks.]

[Name: Terra.

Rank: S rank Beast Warrior.

Special ability: Balance Breaker.]

Multiple notifications began to set in right after, each one covering the ranks of the girls.

Not a single one was below A rank.

In a matter of a few seconds, the cursed children had gone from being D ranks to S ranks.

But that wasn’t all.

[You have gained the skill: Balance Breaker.]

[You have gained the skill: Life After.]

[You have gained a new skill.]

[You have gained a new skill.]

The notifications came flooding in bunches.

While the girls were confused as to why they suddenly felt different, Adonis was proud—more like a father watching his children grow.

Now raising a finger, he uttered, "Now, you are qualified to join my party."

A smile rippled through their faces, despite having no idea what that meant.

But for Adonis, he knew well what it meant.

He was many steps closer to his goal: building the strongest guild in the whole kingdom.

And he didn’t plan on letting go anytime soon.

...

Due to a few factors and the explaining Adonis had to give the children, he wasn’t able to make it to Evan’s mansion that very day.

Instead, he went the next day, though he didn’t go alone.

"Husbanddddd!~"

He hadn’t even gone through the door when Veronica had already pounced on him, hugging him as tightly as she could.

"Where have you been? We thought you abandoned us and went to hook up with some homewrecker!" she uttered.

"That’s... a specific thought," Adonis said with a sigh.

Still inside the house, Filo pouted, definitely wanting to say something but holding herself back.

Adonis couldn’t tell if she was angry or not, not when she makes such cute expressions.

"I came with someone though... Come in, Alice."

That was the best he could do since Veronica wasn’t planning on letting go anytime soon.

Or so he thought.

The moment Veronica saw Alice, her entire mood changed.

Her nails grew longer as she was ready to charge forward to attack Alice.

"So I was right? You were out with a hooker," she uttered, walking slowly toward Alice.

"She’s not a hooker."

Pa! 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

Adonis struck her on the head.

"This is Alice Grayson. She’s a new member of our esteemed party," he introduced, holding Veronica by the arm and dragging her in.

"Filo, please attend to her. I’ll be right back," he issued while dragging Veronica away.

Filo was silent for the first few seconds.

She wondered how Adonis was able to get a new member so fast.

Not like he even tells her anything.

Smiling, she voiced out,

"Welcome, please, come in."

Alice was still a bit uptight, but since it was Adonis, she let her guard down.

"If you will have me."

And with that, she walked into the house.

A new hunters’ guild was coming to Sikone City.
