Chapter 63 - The Taste of Victory

Zhao Ming leaned back in his chair, a glass of wine in his hand. He swirled the deep red liquid slowly, watching the way it clung to the sides of the glass. Outside, the city lights stretched endlessly, a reminder of the empire he had just claimed.

The Qin family was finished. Their businesses had collapsed, their allies had abandoned them, and their name was now nothing but a stain on history.

Wang Xian sat across from him, grinning. "We finally did it. The Qin family is no more."

Zhao Ming took a sip of his wine. "It was never about just beating them. It was about sending a message. Everyone in this city needs to know—no one stands in my way."

Ye Chen nodded. "And they got the message loud and clear. The underworld belongs to us now. The legal businesses, too. But..." He hesitated before continuing. "There's still Qin Hao."

Zhao Ming smirked. "Qin Hao is a dead man walking. Stripped of his power, abandoned by his people—he'll either disappear or try something desperate. Either way, he's already lost."

Just as he finished speaking, his phone buzzed. It was a message from one of his men. He glanced at it and laughed. "Speak of the devil. Qin Hao has been spotted at one of his old safe houses."

Wang Xian raised an eyebrow. "Hiding?"

Zhao Ming shook his head. "Planning."

At a dimly lit apartment on the outskirts of the city, Qin Hao sat hunched over a desk, his hands gripping the edge so tightly that his knuckles turned white. His once perfectly styled hair was disheveled, and his eyes were bloodshot.

He had lost everything. His businesses, his influence, even his family name meant nothing now. And the one responsible for it all was Zhao Ming.

A sharp knock at the door made him jolt. He reached for the pistol on the table, his heart pounding.

"It's me." A familiar voice came from the other side.

Qin Hao hesitated before opening the door.

Qin Xian stepped inside, looking at his brother with a complicated expression. He wasn't the same arrogant man who had once looked down on him. Instead, he seemed almost... guilty.

Qin Hao scoffed. "Come to gloat?"

Qin Xian sighed. "I didn't think it would end like this."

"Of course you didn't," Qin Hao said bitterly. "You thought Zhao Ming would give you a piece of the pie, didn't you? Thought you could betray me and still win?"

Qin Xian didn't deny it. Instead, he placed a folder on the table.

New novel chapt𝒆rs are published on ƒгeewebnovёl.com.

Qin Hao frowned. "What's this?"

"Everything I could find on Zhao Ming," Qin Xian said. "His businesses, his illegal dealings, his hidden enemies. If you want revenge, this is your only chance."

Qin Hao stared at the folder, then at his brother. "Why are you giving me this?"

Qin Xian exhaled slowly. "Because I made a mistake."

For the first time in his life, Qin Hao saw true regret in his brother's eyes. But regret wouldn't fix anything.

"Leave," Qin Hao said coldly.

Qin Xian hesitated, then nodded and walked out the door.

Once he was gone, Qin Hao opened the folder and started reading.

And as he did, a new fire burned in his eyes.

He wasn't finished yet.

Meanwhile, Zhao Ming received another report.

Ye Chen read it aloud. "The remaining members of the Qin family have gone into hiding. Their former allies have turned their backs on them. Qin Hao is completely isolated."

Zhao Ming smirked. "Good. Keep an eye on him, but don't waste too much effort. He's a dead man already."

Wang Xian poured himself a drink. "So what's next? We own the city now."

Zhao Ming tapped his fingers on the table. "Not yet. There are still some loose ends to tie up. People who think they can challenge us. We need to send a clear message."

Ye Chen nodded. "I've already made arrangements. The remaining businesses that supported Qin Hao will be bought out or destroyed. No one will dare oppose us."

Zhao Ming raised his glass. "To our new empire."

The others clinked their glasses with his.

That night, in the dark streets of the city, a storm was brewing.

And deep in his hideout, Qin Hao sharpened his blade.

Qin Hao sat in the dimly lit room, flipping through the documents his brother had given him. His hands trembled slightly—not from fear, but from rage. Zhao Ming had taken everything from him, and now, all he had left was a folder filled with secrets. But secrets were powerful. If he played his cards right, he could still strike back.

His phone buzzed. He hesitated for a moment before answering.

A raspy voice spoke on the other end. "We heard about your... situation. You need help, and we need an opportunity."

Qin Hao's eyes darkened. "Who is this?"

"The Black Tiger Gang," the man replied. "Zhao Ming crushed the Qin family, but he also stepped on a lot of people on his way up. We have a common enemy."

Qin Hao's grip tightened on the phone. The Black Tiger Gang was one of the few forces left in the city that hadn't fully submitted to Zhao Ming. They operated from the shadows, controlling smuggling routes and underground casinos. If they were offering to work with him, it meant they saw an opportunity.

"What do you want?" Qin Hao asked.

The man chuckled. "Simple. You want revenge, and we want Zhao Ming out of the picture. Work with us, and we'll make it happen."

Qin Hao closed his eyes, thinking. If he refused, he was as good as dead. But if he accepted, he was walking into a dangerous game. He had no power left, no army, no resources.

But he still had his mind.

"Fine," he said. "Let's meet."

Meanwhile, at one of Zhao Ming's private clubs, the air was filled with laughter, clinking glasses, and the quiet hum of business deals being made. Zhao Ming sat in a VIP booth, surrounded by his most trusted men.

Wang Xian was grinning, swirling a glass of whiskey. "The Qin family is completely crushed. Even the few dogs that ran away won't dare come back. You've won."

Zhao Ming leaned back, a smirk playing on his lips. "Victory is never final until every loose end is tied up."

Ye Chen, who had been scanning a report on his phone, frowned. "Speaking of loose ends... Qin Hao is still alive."

Zhao Ming's smirk disappeared. "Where is he?"

Ye Chen placed his phone on the table. "We tracked him to an abandoned apartment. But something's off. He's been quiet, too quiet."

Wang Xian scoffed. "He's probably sitting in a dark room, drinking himself to death."

Zhao Ming wasn't convinced. "A man like Qin Hao doesn't just give up. Keep watching him. If he makes a move, I want to know."

Ye Chen nodded. "Already taken care of."

Later that night, Qin Hao arrived at an old warehouse near the docks. A group of men in dark suits stood outside, their faces expressionless.

A man with a scar across his cheek stepped forward. "Qin Hao."

Qin Hao nodded. "You must be Bao Lei."

Bao Lei smirked. "Smart man. Come in."

The warehouse smelled of oil and sea salt. Inside, a large table was set up with maps, documents, and weapons. Several men stood around it, their eyes filled with anticipation.

Bao Lei sat at the head of the table. "We don't have time for games. If you want Zhao Ming dead, we need a plan."

Qin Hao looked at the maps. "Zhao Ming is protected. He's careful. He doesn't go anywhere without guards, and his businesses are locked down tight."

Bao Lei chuckled. "Which is why we're not attacking him directly." He pointed to a map of the city. "We go after what he cares about—the businesses, the people under him. We bleed him dry, little by little."

Qin Hao studied the plan. It was smart. Zhao Ming was powerful, but he wasn't untouchable.

"I have something that can help," Qin Hao said. He pulled out a USB drive. "Zhao Ming has dirty secrets, even worse than what people already know. Corrupt officials, backdoor deals, murders. If this information gets out, he won't just have to worry about us—he'll have to fight the entire city."

Bao Lei's eyes gleamed. "Now that's interesting."

A new fire burned in Qin Hao's chest. For the first time since his downfall, he felt hope. This wasn't just about revenge anymore.

It was about taking back everything.
