"What do you have to say about it? Is this what you were hiding from me?" Gu Shishi asked, the tears dropping from her eyes as she looked at Lu Wei who was silent.
"You need to remain calm, I will handle it, you do not need to worry about it," Lu Wei assured her. He could see the hurt in her eyes, and he became worried about her.
"You do not need to ask me to remain calm, this is my life, I should be aware of it, isn’t that so? I can’t be left in the dark, I have been left in the dark my whole life and you are doing the same thing now," Gu Shishi complained.
She was not wrong. She was not aware that she was not the Gu family’s daughter till yesterday. And now, her reputation was being smeared on the internet, but she was not aware of it.
"I am sorry, I thought you would feel bad if you found out about it, I guess I didn’t put your feelings into consideration," Lu Wei apologized, realizing that he was wrong in his approach.
Gu Shishi sighed. At the end of the day, she understood that he just wanted to protect her, but she was not a child. She could handle things herself.
"I understand that you care about me, and you were worried about how the news would affect me, but you need to understand that I am not a little child, I am twenty-five, I can handle any news, I hope you understand," Gu Shishi explained to him, and he nodded.
"Fine, I understand, I won’t take actions without letting you know about it, this won’t happen again," Lu Wei promised her, and a smile appeared on her face, though she was trying to cover the hurt she felt.
Lu Wei noticed the hurt she was trying to cover in her eyes, and he took deliberate slow steps to her, covering the space between them.
"You know you can cry if you want to cry, there is no one here, so you can let out your emotions," Lu Wei suggested.
Gu Shishi who had her head lowered raised her head to look at him, her eyes red as she was holding back her tears.
Lu Wei gave her an encouraging smile, and that was the last straw as she balled her eyes out.
"Yesterday was such an awful day, and today just proved that the coming days would continue to be awful," Gu Shishi muttered through tears as she raised her head to look at the ceiling.
Lu Wei wanted to say something, but he decided against it. It was the best thing for her to say what she felt within her.
Gu Shishi felt uncomfortable standing, so she squatted to the floor, resting her back on the wall. Lu Wei copied her move. He was willing to give her a listening ear.
Gu Shishi felt glad that he wanted to listen to her. This was probably what she needed, a listening ear. All her life, her opinions had never been heard, she had always been the one listening to what others had to say, even during times when she had a lot to say.
This was a first for her, and she felt at peace just by sitting there with Lu Wei.
Gu Shishi talked about a lot of things, and Lu Wei did not interrupt her.
"That was how I saved the dog, it is a pity the dog is dead now," Gu Shishi had a pitiful smile on her face.
She was recounting the day she saved a dog, who sadly has passed away.
Lu Wei did not say anything, he only listened to her. This was what she needed, someone who could listen to her speak.
To Lu Wei, he could listen to her speak everyday without cutting her short. Her voice offered him a peaceful feeling, and he did not want this to end.
"Do you want to listen to another story?" Gu Shishi turned to look at Lu Wei, as she asked the question.
Lu Wei nodded in response.
"Okay then, I will tell you the story of how I got this scar," Gu Shishi said, pointing to a scar which was on her arm.

"Officer, we need to find our sister, you will have to help us," Gu Leng visited the police station, enlisting the help of the officers.
"Oh, is it your sister who is a product of rape? She must have run away when she found out the news, I would also do the same thing, it won’t feel good when you realise that the family you grew up in is actually not your family, I don’t even want to know what your sister is thinking of right now."
The chief of the officers had a loud mouth, and he was clueless that his words annoyed the two brothers.
"Are you done?" Gu Leng asked with his hands folded, staring straight at the officer who chuckled.
The chief realized that Gu Leng was vexed with his words.
"I apologize for my words, we will help you, that is our job, isn’t it?" The chief chuckled, trying to smooth over his words.
Gu Leng rolled his eyes at his petty attempt to ask for forgiveness.
"Where and when did you see her last?" The chief asked, getting straight into business.
"Our mansion, she left, and we searched for her throughout the estate, we asked a lot of people who could have seen her, but they said they did not find her, we fear that she might be in trouble," Gu Yuan replied, showing concern for his missing sister.
There was no telling if he was worried about her, if it was a show he put up for the officers.
"Do you have any idea where she might have gone to? We can start from there," The chief asked, and the brothers exchanged glances.
"I don’t think so, if we were aware, we might have gone there to check," Gu Leng replied, tired of the whole issue.
"You do not need to worry, we will find your sister for you, I will deploy my men to your estate, surely, someone must have seen her, we will thoroughly question them, we might get a lead from there, rest assured sirs, your sister would be found," The chief officer assured, vowing at the same time.
"I hope you do, my parents are worried about her, and we have been asked to not return home if we don’t find her, so you should see it as a matter of urgency," Gu Leng instructed, praying fervently that they find Gu Shishi before the day ends.

After a whole night of begging, Wu Tang finally accepted for Tang Ni to attend school.
Presently, they were at XXX Elite Kindergarten School, the same school which the twins attended, and Wu Tang decided to drop his son off.
"Remember, stick close to the twins, and do not let anyone hurt or bully them," Wu Tang instructed.
"I fear the twins would be the tyrant in this school," Tang Ni muttered under his breath.
"What did you say?" Wu Tang questioned. He did not get what his son had said.
"Nothing father, you would not understand even if I said it to you," Tang Ni replied.
"If you say so, have fun," Wu Tang ruffled his son’s hair, before he walked out of the school.
Tang Ni breathed out as he stood in the middle of the school. He could see the kids having fun, while he stuck out like a sore thumb.
He looked around, hoping he could catch sight of the twins, but he did not see them.
He was about to walk away when he was held by his hands. He froze in place immediately, as he slowly turned his back.
Tang Ni breathed out when he saw who held him.
"You gave me a fright," he said, looking at the twins.
"Why were you so scared?" Li Meimei asked with a chuckle.
"I thought it was the bad guys who were about to beat me up, you know, like in the states, I was always bullied, so I thought the same was about to happen to me," Tang Ni explained, and Li Chuxi shook her head.
"This is not the state, we are always protected here, and there are no bullies in the school, your father finally allowed you to attend school, how did you get that done?" Li Chuxi asked, leading the two into the class.
"I cried, something I have never done before," Tang Ni replied, still feeling cringe from having to cry yesterday.
"It is not bad, it is for the cause, so have you thought about how to bring your parents together?" Li Chuxi did not forget what Tang Ni had requested from them two days ago.
"Of course, I just need to be the cupid between both of them," Tang Ni replied with a smug smile.
