Rebirth: The Heiress Plans Her Revenge-Chapter 76: Cheng Jixuan Finds Out
Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Cheng Jixuan Finds Out
Cheng Nan looked at her mother as she took a step back in terror, her face horribly pale.
She was unable to believe it. Her mother has just admitted to killing both her father and grandfather.
"What did you just say, Mom?" They both heard a voice and turned to see who was speaking; it was Cheng Jixuan, the only male in the house.
"I asked a question; what did you just say, Mom? Did you kill your father and grandfather? "Are you accountable for their deaths?" He rushed to her, questioning her and shaking her at the same time.
She swatted his hands away from her while keeping her eyes closed. She never wanted her children to find out, but they did. No amount of apologies could compensate for the losses she had caused them.
"I am sorry," she said with her eyes closed. Cheng Jixuan’s shoulders slumped, and his posture deflated as if air was seeping out of him.
He was about to fall, but Cheng Nan caught him and kept him upright. She sniffled as she observed his disappointed expression.
She could completely understand what he was going through. The turmoil was something she could understand. He must have been devastated by the news, as he was the closest to their father.
"How could you do it?" Standing beside Cheng Nan, he asked the question quietly. He did not recognise his mother anymore. He did not even know her anymore.
"I am sorry," she could only say to them; even if it did not bring their father back, she had to apologize for wronging them.
"I despise you so much; for your own selfish reasons, you did not hesitate to sacrifice two lives, actually four, dad, Grandpa, Cheng Luiying, and her mother," Cheng Jixuan sneered as he watched her gulp.
He could not be bothered trusting her pretentious demeanor anymore. He intended to end his relationship with her. He did not want to be associated with a murderer.
"But I did it for the both of you; if I had not done what I did, another person’s child would have taken over your father’s property," Mrs Cheng continued to justify her actions even at this stage.
Cheng Jixuan shook his head. He was bitterly disappointed with her and could not bear her presence.
"Then you could have told the truth!" He yelled, his veins bursting out, startling both women.
"You should have told the truth," he said again, this time softly.
"Why did you not consider all of this when you decided to steal another person’s child?" he asked, having obviously heard everything she said to Cheng Nan.
"You killed dad for selfish reasons, not for me and Nannan," he told her, and she swallowed.
She had to admit that his words terrified her, and his subsequent words effectively confirmed his next move.
"I am going to call the police; you may be my mother, but you are a threat to society," he informed her as he pulled his phone from his trousers pocket, shocking both Mrs Cheng and Cheng Nan.
"You cannot report me to the police because I am your mother," Mrs Cheng yelled as she attempted to take the cellphone from his grasp.
"No, Jixuan, you cannot do this; she is still our mother, and everything she has done has always been for our sake," Cheng Nan clearly took after her mother.
Cheng Jixuan paused, turning to face his sister, who was defending their mother.
"Do you know what you are saying?" Mom murdered someone, not just anyone, but our father and grandfather, and she stole someone else’s child, and you are telling me I should not do this? What kind of person are you?" He inquired, drawing his brows together.
For the umpteenth time, he wondered if he was truly related to them because their perspectives differed.
"Did you not hear what she said? She did it for both of us; we should be grateful to her," Cheng Nan tried to persuade him, and he sneered.
"You cannot persuade me with that; the fact remains that she murdered my father; she should be imprisoned for that; I never asked her to murder my father simply because she wanted me to be the company’s president," Cheng Jixuan glared at her.
"If you keep holding me, I will have no choice but to call the cops and arrest you; do you know what you will be charged with?" He inquired as he examined her face, noting that her lips were parted.
"You will be charged with refusing to allow someone to report a crime, and I am sure you are aware that this is a major crime in our country; can you risk it? Do not forget that I am studying criminology." He threatened, and the hand that held his top slipped away, daring not to anger her little brother. She did not want to go to jail.
"Nannan, I am your mother; you cannot allow him to do this to me." Mrs Cheng held Cheng Nan’s clothes and closed her eyes with a heavy expression as they watched Cheng Jixuan speak to the cops.
"It is all over," Mrs Cheng slumped to the floor, the light in her eyes fading instantly.
Her current emotions were similar to those she experienced when she lost her baby. This time, however, she had lost everything.
Her name, husband, family, reputation, and everything that was important to her.
"Who is Sister Luiying’s mother, by the way?" Cheng Jixuan was not about to overlook such an important issue.
Mrs Cheng avoided looking into his eyes. She preferred not to answer this question if at all possible.
"Are you responding or not? He asked, folding his arms.
"She is the Zhang family’s daughter," she finally said, her voice low.
"What?" Cheng Jixuan and Cheng Nan both yelled, their wide-eyed gazes fixed on their mother.
"Did you mention the Zhang family? We are doomed," Cheng Jixuan said, pacing around with his hands on his waist. He appeared to be extremely fidgety.
Cheng Nan, on the other hand, bit her nails and gave her mother a worried look.
She will have a difficult time getting out of this. Why did her mother not find another family? She was also envious of Cheng, no, Zhang Luiying, for having such a great family.
"You could have chosen another family; why the Zhangs?" Cheng Jixuan clutched his aching forehead.
