Rebirth: The unfavored Princess is the Tyrant King's favorite-Chapter 110: Didn’t that tell you anything?
"Um, there’s something I must confess," Nicholas said, staring at her nervously. It was as if he was afraid what he was about to say would make her angry.
"Okay, tell me; I’m all ears," Luciana said.
"Do you remember the first time we met in Serenevale?"
"Yes, I remember; what has that got to do with what we’re talking about?" Luciana asked with raised eyebrows, looking confused.
"After the first time I met you, I couldn’t get you out of my mind. It was as if I couldn’t even function without you," he said and paused.
"And?" Luciana urged.
"At first, I thought the reason why I was so intrigued by a girl I had only met once and couldn’t get out of my mind was because you were so different from all the women I’ve been with before. So I thought that maybe if I bed you... erm, maybe if I had you... just once, I’d..." He paused and stared at her.
"Ahem..." He coughed and added,
"That I’d get you out of my system."
He was intently watching her face to see her reaction.
Luciana listened attentively, and then she let his words sink in, and then realization dawned on her.
’He had just wanted to use her,’ she thought, and she forcefully wriggled out of his embrace with all her might.
She had had such thoughts about his initial intentions before, but they were mere suspicions.
’To think that that was really what he had initially planned. The man had three women in his harem; why else would he want another woman outside?’
’It was because he was far from his concubines and just wanted someone to give him release, and she became his perfect candidate. After all, she was the daughter of the man he was going to kill.’
Nicholas wrapped his hand around her and prevented her from moving away from him.
"I have not finished speaking; would you let me finish?" Nicholas said.
"What do you want to say again? Is it not enough that from the very start, you just wanted to get into my skirt, use me, and discard me? You were never serious about me," Luciana snapped, her voice full of fury.
"My thoughts changed, okay? I didn’t think like that anymore after the second time I met you," Nicholas said, but Luciana still resisted.
"Liar!" She exclaimed.
"The second time we met, I remember you took me to that beautiful, quiet meadow near the lake. That was the first time you kissed me, there in that beautiful place, and when you saw I had let down my guard, you tried to touch me inappropriately," Luciana heaved.
"And you slapped me hard for touching you, don’t you remember?" Nicholas asked, his voice calm, despite the brewing storm within his gaze, but Luciana was too angry to calm down.
"You scoundrel, if I had allowed you, I’m sure that would have been the last time I saw you," Luciana spat.
"We met six times. Six times, and I’m sure the only reason why you kept meeting me was because of sex, right? To bed me and get me out of your system!" she yelled.
"Would you listen?" Nicholas snarled; he knew he was supposed to coax her, but his temper had always been bad, and he was barely holding himself from kissing her to shut her up.
If she has too much energy to fight, they should be channeling that energy somewhere important.
Luciana heard the anger in his voice, and she clamped her mouth shut in obedience.
’Wasn’t she supposed to be the angry one? Why was he getting angry?’ She thought.
"You slapped me on our second meeting and left with your hand intact and also got an apology from me. You should know my temper, Luciana, but I let you go. It was only the two of us; I could have done anything I wanted, but I let you go; didn’t that tell you anything?" He asked.
"I even wanted to see you again and again after that incident. Shouldn’t that tell you that from the start, I treated you differently? The only reason I hesitated and didn’t find you after I completed my mission in Serenevale was because I found out your real identity," he said, his eyes full of emotion.
He wanted to tell her that after that first encounter with her, he, who was the ladies’ man and always had women surrounding him, didn’t find any thrill in being with women again.
But he knew she wouldn’t see it as something romantic.
Even the most exotic women, who had mastered the art of seduction, couldn’t get under his skin anymore. He would only see her face. He only wanted her. It was because of her that he became celibate for six months, the first time in his life.
He had only planned on staying in Serenevale for a month at most to take revenge on the royal family, but he kept pushing his plans forward every time, again and again, just to see her one more time.
He hated commitments because of how his father treated his mother, and due to that, he had even decided never to get married. So he was only with women who were willing, no strings attached.
But she was so different from all of them; she was someone he instinctively knew he couldn’t have a one-time thing with.
He had even decided that after he had fulfilled his filial piety to his mother by killing the king and queen of Serenevale, he would ask who her parents were and ask for her hand in marriage.
She had told him he would tell him her real identity on their seventh meeting.
"That night after the invasion, I waited for you. I knew you wouldn’t come after what I did to your parents, but I still waited. Maybe I hoped you’d come and confront me and hit me, beat me, and vent to your heart’s content, but you didn’t come."
"I told myself that, even if you came to see me full of hatred for what I did, it could still mean you had me in your heart; it could mean you hated me at least. So even when it began to rain, I didn’t move an inch. I waited for you until sunrise."
"But you didn’t show up, and I told myself I’d forget you, and for 4 weeks, I thought I’d go crazy without you until I saw you in the bedchambers that night when you tried to kill me," he said.
"I didn’t know you were the person who killed my parents," Luciana said, and it was Nicholas’ turn to look at her in shock.
"I only found out you’re my parents’ murderer the night of the wedding," she added.
"Then why didn’t you come to find me?" He asked,
"My parents had died; did you think I’d want to see you at that time?" She asked back.
"I’m sorry... I think, after seeing your portrait in the palace and knowing your identity, I instinctively thought you knew who I was; that’s why you didn’t want to tell me your name," Nicholas confessed.
"Okay, so how did your thinking Lady Evelyn is me and making love with her fit into this conversation?" Luciana asked. If she wanted to find out how Nicholas thought he made love to Evelyn so that she could piece together what happened.
’She must know to begin her revenge against Evelyn.’
