Chapter 70: You have no idea how much I want you

Hearing his words, Luciana felt as if pins were pricking her back instead of his hands that were rubbing and patting her back gently.

"To—Tonight?" She stammered, her eyes widening.

"Yes, wife, I’ve been patient enough, and I think you’re ready now," he said calmly with an understanding smile on his face as if he had not noticed the frightened expression on her face.

"I...I don’t think I’m ready," she stuttered and added after a beat, "You promised you’d give me time."

"I said yes; I didn’t promise I’d wait; I never said it would be on your terms. And I have given you enough time, haven’t I?" He asked.

Luciana gulped seeing his intense gaze that scanned her as if she were a prey and he, a tiger on the hunt, finally sighting its prey. It was true; he never promised he would wait, and here she was thinking she had time.

"Don’t tell me you were expecting me to wait for you for a month, 6 months, or a year, perhaps?" He drawled lazily, eyebrows raised, seeing her genuinely surprised expression.

He squatted beside her, and his hands went into her hair, fisting a handful of it, with its soft and silky locks running through his fingers like fine sand. He brought it close to his nose and took a long whiff of her hair, a dazed and almost drunk expression on his face. His face looked as if he was intoxicated or drugged perhaps.

"Oh, my little wife, you have no idea how much I want you, do you?" He whispered seductively, a sinfully delicious tinge lacing his voice.

"You have no idea how I want to lay you down and trace the lightning works of my fingers on your thigh, make your body quiver and writhe to the motions of my tongue as I taste every part of you," his hoarse voice continued, and then he took a shaky breath and locked eyes with her, making sure to hold her gaze.

He smiled when he realized he had her full attention.

"I want to wrap my hands around you and look deep into your eyes as you spread your legs, open up to me, and allow me to bury myself deep inside you, stretch your walls, and feel you clenching around me as you moan my name with our naked bodies intertwined as one as we dance to a tune as old as rhyme. Tonight, I want you to be mine, Luciana."

His voice sounded so hoarse and seductive that by the time Luciana realized it, she was feeling hot over with a familiar feeling assaulting her lower body just by looking into his eyes and imagining what he was talking about. Even her breathing felt heavy and labored due to his sinful words.

"Your maid is worried about you; I’ll call her over to keep you company and attend to some official matters I had neglected because you fainted," he said; his expression had gone back to looking indifferent; it was as if the man who was spouting those sinful words just a moment ago was a different person.

"And oh, I forgot to add: all your daily necessities have been moved here; from now on, we will act like a normal married couple; you will stay here in my manor with me," he said and turned to leave.

"Nick, please stop this," she said, the words rolling out of her tongue before she could stop herself.

"And what exactly should I stop?" He asked in a deadpan voice.

"Everything!" She exasperated.

"Nick, please, I can’t stay here; think about the rules; it’s frowned upon to have me here all the time," she added.

"I don’t care about the rules. You are my wife, and I want you close to me. What is wrong with that?" He snapped.

"What about the elders? The empress dowager, for instance, would think I’m some vixen who doesn’t want her husband to be with his other concubines and has taken away all his attention," she said.

"If you’re worried about them, I’ll talk to the empress dowager and the emperor myself. The only one you should be worried about is me, and I want you here! I’m the one who wants to be drunk in love with my vixen wife and make love to her every single day, not them," he said and approached her.

Luciana saw him approaching, and her guard went up in fear. Nicholas saw how she looked stiff sitting behind the table that had a spread of healthy foods especially made for her and smiled.

With her head already tilted upwards to stare at him as he approached her, he placed his hands on both cheeks and held her face in his palms before he pressed his lips on hers and gave her a domineering kiss.

A fiery and intoxicating kiss that stopped as soon as it began, he grinned devilishly at the flustered woman and walked away, leaving the words,

"Don’t miss me too much, wife; I’ll think about you too. You don’t need to ask."

When Dora entered the eldest Prince’s bedchamber, she met a dazed Luciana who was just staring into space with a blush on her cheeks and a faraway look on her face.

"My lady, my lady, are you alright?" Dora called her absentminded mistress several times before she responded.

"Dora, how are you?" She said, coming back to her senses.

"I’m fine, my lady; you are the one I’m worried about. Are you still feeling uncomfortable anywhere?" Dora asked with a worried look on her face.

"I’m fine, Dora," Luciana assured and stretched her hands,

"See, do I look like I’m unwell?" Luciana added.

"Then why is my lady not eating? Is the food not to your liking?" Dora fussed, seeing the only half bowl of porridge that seemed to have been touched.

"I’m not hungry," Luciana said. She had lost her appetite after everything that happened.

"But you must eat something to replenish your health," Dora insisted, pushing the bowl of bird nest soup towards her mistress.

Seeing Dora’s enthusiastic eyes that urged her on, Luciana reluctantly began to take a few sips.

"Where is Lord Al... the cat? Where is it?" Luciana asked.

"It should be around here somewhere," Dora said absentmindedly, not really caring about the cat.

"Go and bring it to me," Luciana said. Dora felt reluctant, but because her mistress had just woken up from unconsciousness, she stood up to find the cat only to see the cat in question peeking its head at the door and trying to enter.

"Lord Algrith, there you are; come over here," Luciana said to the cat as soon as she saw it in the doorway.

"My lady, what did you just call the cat right now?" Dora asked in puzzlement; she felt as if her ears were playing tricks on her. ’Did her lady just call the cat a lord?

Luciana realized she had called the real name of the cat in front of Dora and scratched her head awkwardly; Lord Algrith also looked at her with questions in his eyes.

"Hehehe, I called him Lord Chubby; he’s the chubbiest cat alive, so that’s his name," Luciana sheepishly said.

"Like, seriously? Of all names, this is the one you gave me?" Lord Algrith said, but Dora, who heard it as if the cat was meowing, clapped with a look of excitement all over her face.

"My lady, I think your name fits him perfectly; just see how he’s meowing and wagging its tail in happiness. It shows he also likes it," Dora said.

Lord Algrith: "..."

’Which part of my face shows I’m happy?’ Lord Algrith thought, fuming.

"Dora, get me some mint leaves from the garden," Luciana said.

"Okay, my lady, right away," Dora said and left.

When Luciana saw that Dora was out of earshot, she turned to look at Lord Algrith.

"My husband wants us to consummate tonight. What should I do? There are still four days until the red moon festival," Luciana said, looking worried. She knew this time she couldn’t escape Nicholas’ clutches.
