Rebirth: The unfavored Princess is the Tyrant King's favorite-Chapter 95: Flashback: A bastard son
At David’s command, the guards made their way towards Nicholas. Nicholas pushed Luciana to a safe corner and unsheathed his sword.
The sound of swords clanging against each other and bodies falling could be heard in the next moment, but Nicholas’ breath was becoming labored. There was something wrong with him; he could feel it. His strength had dwindled. So much so that he could only feel about 5 percent of his previous strength.
He blocked a sword aiming for his neck with expertise and kicked the man away with his leg before stabbing him through his stomach. He pulled out the sword, and the blood dripped out.
But his knees buckled, causing him to sway on his feet.
David saw Nicholas’ predicament and smiled.
"If I were you, I’d stop using too much strength. The poison works faster that way. Oh, I forgot to mention, the wine I gave to you in your courtyard was poisoned; soon, you won’t be able to lift a limb," David drawled lazily, a smirk on his face.
Luciana’s eyes widened in horror at David’s words; her vision, it was happening!
"Coward!" Nicholas spat, panting heavily. He felt as if his lungs were on fire. Everything burned, and even his vision was blurring.
"You have some nerve to call me a coward. Tell me, doesn’t stealing your brother’s woman make you a coward too? Or is it because you are a bastard that you want to conceive a bastard to follow in your footsteps?" David spat, his voice full of equal irritation and mockery.
"You knew," Nicholas said.
"Of course, I know that your whore of a mother cuckolded the emperor and made him raise a bastard son..."
"Don’t you dare speak about my mother with that filthy mouth of yours," Nicholas growled, interrupting him.
"What would you do if I dared say it?" David asked provocatively.
"Don’t worry, I’ll make sure Luciana stays by my side, and I’ll raise your bastard son together with her. He would be raised as my eldest prince; don’t worry, you can now die in peace!" David said, and in the next second, he approached Nicholas with the speed of a released arrow and swung his sword toward him, ready to duel.
Nicholas defended himself with all his might, and the harsh sound of swords clanging against each other filled the air.
Both men oozed pure strength as they jumped back in defense before they charged at each other again in a fierce clash.
The atmosphere was tense and filled with a murderous aura. They jumped back and charged at each other again with such strength that even the ground suffered as the atmosphere was filled with fine dust, making it difficult to make them out in clouds of dust.
Nicholas was hanging by a thread; he was just holding on and finding a chance to end it all before he could rest. His eyelids begged to close, and his lungs were about to burst.
"You’re indeed a monster, brother. To think you are still able to fight with all that poison running through your veins," David said, his lips curled in mockery.
"Stop stalling, and let’s end this once and for all. She never loved you, and you should let her go," Nicholas thundered, his voice full of contempt.
"She is mine. I had her first; she is my wife!"
"She was your wife. And she is not your property. She’s not a thing to belong to you!" Nicholas spat, staring at him in disgust.
"She is not yours either, and she would never be yours!" David swore.
"We will see about that!" Nicholas vowed, and they both charged at each other again.
Except that this time David raised his hand towards Nicholas, catching him off guard and causing him to fly in the air and fiercely smash him against the wall. Nicholas crashed through the wall, creating a huge hole, and ended up outside the wall; he was now in David’s courtyard on the lawn.
Nicholas tried to stand up on his feet, but he was failing miserably. A mouthful of blood spurted out. He was on one knee and tried to use the sword to support himself, but David had already arrived and was holding a sword over his head.
Luciana, who had run over and seen the scene from her vision, opened her mouth, forming an O shape as her eyes widened in horror.
In the next moment, she saw David was about to thrust the sword through Nicholas’s heart, and her whole body shook. Luciana fell on her knees and screamed in anguish.
"Noooooo!!!"
Luciana didn’t know if it was because of her fear, anguish, or because she really didn’t want anything to happen to Nicholas that the deities had pity on her. A powerful force burst out of her and threw the guards up in the air, and they came crashing onto the ground, passing out directly.
Luciana even thought they were dead from how everything became quiet after they crashed. It was as if a hurricane had swept through the courtyard. Walls, tables, chairs—everything within the crown prince’s estate was broken into smithereens and didn’t look like it could be salvaged anymore.
David was still awake, but after the power and shockwaves that passed through him a moment ago, he felt as if he was vibrating from an electric shock. He stared at Luciana as if she were a monster.
Nicholas was also watching Luciana with a subtle smile on his face as he forced himself to stay awake. He looked at her proudly.
The sound of a horse neighing and approaching as its hooves thumped against the ground could be heard, and James appeared with two stallions. He was sitting on one, and another one was free.
He jumped down and asked Luciana,
"Your Highness, can you ride? Please take this and go ahead. The prince and I will join you soon," James said.
Luciana shook her head to disagree. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"We all go together, or we all die here; I’m not leaving you behind."
James turned to look at David, who showed signs of getting on his feet.
Luciana followed James’ line of sight and saw David was almost on his feet.
She stretched his hand toward him, and a sticky patch formed underneath his feet, holding him in place. He couldn’t move no matter how he struggled.
"I’m sorry, it should come off by sunrise," Luciana said, and David could only watch as he was powerless as James helped Nicholas mount on the horse and sat behind him.
Luciana sat alone on another horse, and they left him behind all alone in a house full of ruins and stuck in one place.
