Rebirth: The unfavored Princess is the Tyrant King's favorite-Chapter 96: Flashback: It’s a secret
Luciana stared at Nicholas, whose eyes were shut and whose breathing was so faint one could think he was dead, and sniffed.
She had tried to use her magic to heal him; she had tried to extract the poison, but nothing worked.
"Nicholas, please don’t do this to me; I need you. Our baby needs you," Luciana begged, holding his large cold hand with her small ones and placing it against her cheeks.
Nicholas was lying on a bed made from leaves, and a little fire was burning by the side to disperse the cold in the cave. They were in a cave they found in the forest to attend to Nicholas.
It was already dawn, but he was still asleep.
They had left the capital and had used the forest route since it was safer, and it would at least make it difficult for David’s men to track them that way.
The forest route was dangerous, but it was necessary because soon David would send his men after them, and she didn’t need to be told what was going to happen if they caught up to them.
Luciana also needed to rest since she was with child and couldn’t stay on the horse for such long hours. Besides, she had exerted too much energy, and she was already at her limit.
James and Dora stared at the princess crouched beside the unmoving prince in deep thought. Both had different thoughts running through their minds.
James especially recalled what had happened the previous evening. When the prince began putting things in order like he had done about three months ago again, he decided to be bold and confront the prince.
"Your Highness, are you going to wait for someone again today? Would the person come with us this time around?" James had asked, looking worried.
For the first time since he began to serve the prince, James had seen a look of uncertainty in the prince’s eyes.
"I don’t know...She’s always so unpredictable," he said, his voice lacking confidence.
"She?" James repeated. The person the prince had waited for that night was a woman? He should have noticed; he knew there was nothing wrong with his prince’s sexual orientation.
It’s just that after people had begun to whisper that the prince might prefer men due to his lack of interest in the women who always threw themselves at him, he had begun to believe it.
"But don’t worry, today’s situation is different; I’m sure she will come with me. She would choose me," Nicholas said, trying to convince himself more than James.
However, James had never expected that the identity of the woman would be so "special."
The "she" the prince was referring to was none other than the crown princess.
How in the world did this happen? His mind went to the sneaky actions of the prince for the past two years, and he could already tell it involved the princess. ’The prince was bold indeed.’
Dora was thinking along the same lines as James, but she didn’t know what to say, so she just kept mum. The princess had come to wake her at the servant’s quarters and told her they needed to leave. She was feeling drowsy, but she could only follow after her princess.
Luciana stared at Nicholas’s almost lifeless face and decided to try what she had been thinking of doing for a while now.
Her blood could save Nicholas. She had not tried it before, but she knew anytime she accidentally cut herself, the wounds healed fast, and her blood had healing abilities, and it was because her blood was special.
Without thinking about it further, Luciana pulled out a dagger and cut her wrist before pressing it against Nicholas’ mouth.
His mouth looked frozen and was clamped shut, but Luciana forcefully pried it open, being gentle in her movements nonetheless, and it opened. Before his lips would shut again, she pressed her wrist between his parted lips.
"My lady, what are you doing?" James, who had seen what the princess did but was too shocked to move or speak, finally confronted the princess; he even wanted to move her wrist away.
Dora also wanted to move, but James was faster than her. She, on the other hand, was worried about her mistress’ health. She already looked so thin and frail; why on earth was she cutting herself and feeding her blood to the prince?
"I’m saving him; you don’t want him to die, do you?" Luciana asked, looking at him with her puffy eyes full of tears but still exuding authority. Nicholas coughed, and Luciana’s eyes snapped to look at him.
"Nicholas? It’s working! Oh, thank you, deities...Thank you... thank you," Luciana said, her voice mixed with fear and relief.
Nicholas just coughed and slept again, but in no time, his pale blue lips began to look normal again, and color began to return to his face; even his breathing had improved.
Both James and Dora watched the princess in shock. They realized no one must know about this; otherwise, the princess’s life would be in danger. To possess such a miracle in your blood might not be something good if a greedy person found out.

When Nicholas woke up, it was about two hours later. The poison David fed him was quite potent. He scanned the environment and immediately saw Luciana scrunched up on the floor, hugging her knees with her head lying on top of her knees and her hair messily sprawled around her body.
Nicholas felt like he was dreaming. He wasn’t dead, and Luciana was here with him—Luciana was by his side. He took in her features and didn’t notice a subtle smile had formed on his face when he saw her slightly parted lips that she breathed through.
He stretched his finger to move a strand of hair from her face. His movements were light and airy, but she still woke up from the contact.
"Nicholas, you are awake," she said with a sleepy smile on her face.
"I’m sorry you had to go through all that. I didn’t know David had set a trap for me, and I put you and our baby in danger," Nicholas said, his tone full of remorse.
"It’s okay, you don’t need to blame yourself. We are fine now; everything is going to be fine," Luciana said. Nicholas couldn’t hope for a better outcome.
"Come here," he said," and Luciana scooted closer to him. His strong arms came around her and pulled her onto his lap, making her squeal at his actions.
"Thank you," he said, and Luciana stared at him in confusion.
"Thank you for coming with me, for making me the happiest man on earth. I’ll never make you regret choosing me, Luciana...never," he vowed, and he looked so sincere that Luciana instinctively believed him.
’David told you the same thing; look at the way it ended,’ a voice told Luciana in her mind, but she shook her head to get rid of all her doubts.
"I believe you," Luciana said, and Nicholas smiled. He leaned in and was about to kiss her, but she turned her lips away from him.
"I’ve not brushed my teeth yet," she said, looking away shyly.
Nicholas chuckled at her words and shook his head.
"You’re too adorable for your own good," he said, and then it dawned on him; he was forgetting something.
"Where did you get the antidote for the poison?" Nicholas asked.
Luciana stared at him, tongue-tied, avoided his gaze, and replied vaguely.
"It’s a secret."
Nicholas realized she must have saved him with her magic and hugged her tighter, kissing her on the crown of her head.
"Thank you, my lucky charm. I’ll go and brush my teeth so that I can kiss you to show my gratitude; what do you say?" He asked with a mischievous grin on his face.
Luciana glared at him and hit him on his chest. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"Stop making fun of me."
"Was that supposed to hurt?" Nicholas asked, making fun of her, and she hit him again, only for her to cry out in pain.
"Ouch! Is your body made of iron?" She said, glaring and pouting at the same time.
Nicholas just laughed at the adorable woman who was acting like a child in his arms and forgetting she was wiggling and rubbing her bottom on his member.
He was just too happy that he even forgot this wasn’t the time to be thinking about such things.
James and Dora had gone in search of food and returned to the cave and saw the intimate scene between the prince and the princess. They tried to retreat silently, but James stepped on a dry twig, and the crack sound filled the cave, breaking the intimate atmosphere.
Luciana hurriedly tried to get away from Nicholas, but he held her down and prevented her from moving.
"You should rest for a while; I’ll get you something to eat so that we can continue," Nicholas said and kissed her forehead.
Today, he felt like doing every little thing he had wanted to do to her every time he thought about her.

"My Prince, men are searching around the forest. They are wearing the uniforms of the Gloryland army," James, who had gone down to the stream to fetch water and fill their gourd bottles, said worriedly when he returned.
Nicholas turned to look at the "sound asleep" Luciana, and a frown appeared on his forehead.
He had found out from James how Luciana had saved him. He had wanted her to rest for a while before they continued, but it seemed that would be impossible for now. He could wait and fight those men, but he didn’t want to put Luciana’s and the baby’s lives in danger.
"Ready the horses; I’ll wake my wife up," Nicholas instructed, and James got ready, nearly choking on his saliva at the prince’s way of address.
