Chapter 100: Swordsmen (2)

Jiro was in the temple at the moment. Hearing his brothers’ call, he glanced at Oniyon hidden under the offering table one last time, and then rushed down the mountain to assist them.

As he ran, he wondered, ’just how strong is "Lady" that Ichiro and Shiro can’t beat her?’

Meanwhile, Ayoi and Alex were also nearing the central battlefield.

"Yuka, we’re coming," Ayoi announced over the team voice chat.

Roukujou slapped his thigh, "Folks, all three members from both teams are converging here. They have to be super careful now, because they may accidentally hurt their own teammates."

Avoiding friendly fire was a concern for Ayoi and Alex. They couldn’t use their heavy artillery in such a confined space, because that may hit Yuka. So, they switched to other weapons—Ayoi with her gun and Alex with his long sword, and then they confronted the third black mecha.

Jiro, arriving from the mountainside, was shocked. "Didn’t you say there was only ’Lady’?"

Ichiro and Shiro, too engrossed in their struggle with "Lady," couldn’t respond. Yuka’s hammer had such a wide attack range that Ayoi and Alex cautiously positioned themselves behind her, not rushing to attack the newcomer.

Shiro, assessing his brothers’ movements, dashed forward and leaped up, preparing to unleash a series of sword strikes like Ichiro had tried earlier.

Bang, bang, bang...

Ayoi saw the jumping black mecha and opened fire mercilessly. Her bullets rained down accurately on the enemy’s cockpit.

Shiro, in panic, used his sword to shield his cockpit and rolled on the ground to stabilize. Before he could stand up, Alex rushed from Yuka’s side and swung his sword at the black mecha’s raised arm.

Fortunately, Shiro retracted his arm in time, and Alex’s strength wasn’t as overwhelming as "Lady’s."

Shiro barely saved his arm, quickly supporting himself with his hands and performing a backflip to gain distance. He stood up and swiftly attacked the golden mecha with rapid sword strikes.

Alex could only just manage to block a few of Shiro’s strikes with his sword before being stabbed in the cockpit. He hastily retreated to avoid being eliminated.

Ayoi quickly reloaded and kept firing at the black mecha.

Jiro, with his side to the firing brown mecha, quickly advanced, seizing the opportunity to strike again. His sword deeply penetrated the golden mecha’s shoulder, but it got stuck.

Jiro pulled, but couldn’t fully extract it.

Seeing the opportunity, Alex rapidly swung his sword.

Jiro dodged quickly, so Alex only managed to leave several deep scratches on the mecha, not endangering the cockpit.

Seeing the black mecha about to retrieve its sword, Alex glanced at Yuka and Ayoi. Seeing the two still struggling, he bit his lip, saying in the voice chat, "I’m taking one with me!"

He lunged forward, grabbing the black mecha, completely ignoring the sword still embedded in his shoulder. Then he rolled out of the central battle arena with the opponent.

Shiro was momentarily dazed by the sudden takedown but quickly realized what was happening. However, it was too late.

Alex pressed his artillery fire button, and the explosion erupted next to him and the black mecha. With his last bit of strength, Alex flipped over, forcing the black mecha on top of his own, fully absorbing the impact of the blast.

The explosion sent a wave of heat across the battlefield, causing the remaining players to instinctively move away, disrupting their fight.

Outside, Roukujou slapped his thigh again and exclaimed, "Incredible! We’ve just seen Alex use a self-destruct tactic to take out an opponent. Now, four players remain on the field, two on each side. It’s even!"

[Ah, Alex, we’ll remember your sacrifice.]

[Oh Alex, baby, mommy loves you.]

[It’s funny, when someone tried to blow up Pinky in a similar way, you all called it despicable. Now that Pinky’s teammate does it, you think it’s the right move? Talking about double-standard!] frёewebηovel.cѳm

[So what? Are you new to human world?]

"Let’s focus on the match," Roukujou suggested, trying to redirect the audience’s attention.

Then, suddenly alarmed, he looked at the timer in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Slapping his thigh, now red from the impact, he exclaimed, "Folks, we have just eight minutes left in the match!"

[Whoa!]

[My goodness, time flew by so fast! Only less than eight minutes left!]

[Can someone estimate the damage on both sides’ mechas? I’m so nervous...]

[Don’t worry, it’s obvious their mechas are more damaged. Brownie hasn’t been hit yet.]

Ichiro, on the field, also noticed the time issue.

"Go attack the other mecha!" he shouted to Shiro. "We’re running out of time, hurry!"

Shiro quickly disengaged from "Lady" and headed towards the brown mecha. Knowing that this mecha excelled in shooting, Shiro zigzagged to avoid being an easy target but still took several hits to his cockpit.

Ayoi, circling around the central battlefield created by Yuka and her opponent, shot at the black mecha. However, she couldn’t outrun the agile black mecha and was soon caught up.

Lacking melee weapons and equipped only with firearms, Ayoi contemplated a self-destruct move like Alex’s. Also, her artillery cooldown was over, making it a perfect time to explode.

But Shiro, now vigilant, quickly saw through the brown mecha’s intentions. He kept his distance, swinging his sword with one hand and returning to the central battle area, preventing Ayoi from self-destructing without risking "Lady."

Ayoi’s bullets were now depleted. "Yuka, I’m out of bullets, what do we do?" she asked over the team voice chat.

Yuka, after landing another hammer blow on Ichiro’s cockpit and almost ready to knock him out of the match, heard Ayoi’s message.

Glancing at the dwindling time, she replied, "I’ll hold them off. You go up the mountain and snatch their Oniyon from the defense point."

"Got it!" Ayoi responded.

Shiro, noticing the brown mecha’s pause, cautiously extended his remaining mechanical arm, ready to strike. But just as he took a step forward, a dull thud sounded from behind.

Yuka’s hammer had struck him squarely in the back.

Stumbling forward, Shiro tried to straighten up but ducked again when the returning hammer nearly hit him.

Seizing the opportunity, Ayoi dashed past them, heading towards the silent mountain.
