Chapter 116: Pinky’s Show (1)

Since the Red Dragonflies hadn’t fully recovered their functions, the audience in the livestream couldn’t fully track the movements of Numbrt 666.

They could only catch glimpses of her occasionally in the livestream and deduced that she continued towards the interior of the valley.

While everyone tensely watched Admiral Kuba leading the Alliance Army in fierce battle against the space pirates, they also kept an eye on the valley to monitor the students’ situation.

Yuka encountered a few space pirates along her way, but quickly got rid of them with her chained hammer.

The fog on the mountain hadn’t cleared yet. When attacking, Yuka just needed to stand in the fog, throwing her hammer at her targets, and that would either hit their cockpits or restrain their movements.

The pirates, unable to see her, floundered like headless flies, and they were soon crushed by her in their cockpits.

Seeing her progressing so smoothly, the audience’s initially tense nerves relaxed somewhat, and they began discussing in the live chat.

[The Chosen One’s attacks look so effortless, quite the contrast to those two classmates earlier.]

[Why is there such a variance in the quality of this year’s military academy students?]

[Can’t help it, The Chosen One is just too impressive. Everyone else pales in comparison, some even drag down the standard.]

Yonda, watching Yuka’s agile figure on the screen, got irritated thinking about how she usually pretended to be weak, barely passing her grades to deceive him. ’She’s too good at pretending. If this incident hasn’t happened, when will she stop pretending?’

Hearing the last comment, Yonda couldn’t help but explain, "The Chosen... no, Number 666 is indeed amazing, but the others aren’t bad either. These kids are just freshmen, mostly trained in simulations with little actual combat. The pain in real combat is much more intense than in virtual training, draining more physical strength and psychic power. Plus, with the sudden intrusion of space pirates, most of them didn’t react in time and couldn’t perform to their usual standard."

[I think having the courage to resist those desperate space pirates is commendable. If it were someone else, they might have fainted from fear.]

[The Chosen One must have trained, right? Otherwise, why would she be so skilled?]

[I think The Chosen One is Pinky, her combat style is so similar to Pinky’s.]

[Who’s Pinky?]

Immediately, the live chat flooded with people hyping up Pinky, the underground arena’s single and team champion. Many went to watch Pinky’s highlight videos.

Quick-fingered viewers even edited Pinky’s hammer clips from her matches, comparing them to The Chosen One’s recent footage. Many movements and habits matched, convincing Pinky’s fans even more that the Chosen One was Pinky.

Yonda learned about Pinky’s glorious exploits through the chat and realized just how much Yuka had been pretending to be weak, contrasting sharply with her fierce fighting in private. This made him even angrier.

Amidst the flood of [Go Pinky!] comments, one stood out: [That mecha is out of bullets, I remember the pilot is a girl with a round face, she’s a sharpshooter.]

Yonda quickly brought up and enlarged the screen showing Ayoi and Alex.

They were dealing with three space pirate mechas, but Ayoi’s magazine was empty. Exchanging a look with Alex, she retreated a few steps, creating distance from the three enemy mechas.

Then Ayoi fired her last cannon shot.

Unfortunately, the pirates were prepared, and the shot failed to take any of them down. It only caused minor damage to their mechas without hindering their movements. The three mechas rose and charged at Ayoi and Alex, as if certain they had no more moves to make.

With no more ammunition, Ayoi could only use her mecha to block the attacks, while Alex, having already given his bullets to Ayoi, fought with a long sword to help block some of the attacks for her.

[Oh no, they’re in danger, someone save them!]

[Wasn’t The Chosen One heading this way? She should be close, right?]

With a loud "clang!", one of the pirate mechas was suddenly flung away.

Yuka, whom everyone had been eagerly waiting for, emerged from the thick fog. She tightened the chain in her hand, pulling the recently flung mecha back in front of her.

Dodging bullets, Yuka threw a magazine she had scavenged from another mecha to Ayoi.

Ayoi excitedly shouted, "Yuka!"

She and Alex knew Yuka would come to their rescue. Now with ammunition, Ayoi quickly got up from the ground and began providing long-range support for Yuka, holding off another newly arrived mecha, while Alex protected Ayoi with his sword, blocking space pirate attacks so she could focus on shooting.

Yuka punched the cockpit of the new mecha, dragging out the shattered pilot and throwing them far away.

Then she stomped on the cockpit of the mecha she had pulled over, which was struggling on the ground.

Retrieving her hammer from the mecha, she swung it towards the mecha engaged with Ayoi.

Seizing the opportunity, Ayoi shot a barrage of bullets at the space pirate’s mecha cockpit, hitting her targets with each shot.

At the same time, Alex thrust his long sword into the cockpit of the mecha in front of him.

[It’s safe now, I was so scared just now.]

[Their coordination is so in sync, they must have worked together before, right?]

"Indeed, they’re very in sync," Yonda commented from the commentary booth. "Overall, Number 666 excels in melee combat with cold weapons. Her choice of the hammer is primarily to compensate for her lack of long-range attacks. Number 68 is skilled in firearms, not exactly a perfect shooter but I’d estimate her accuracy is at least 90%. However, her weakness is clear: she’s not good at close combat."

"As for Number 100," Yonda paused, "he’s like the glue of the team. Though he seems inconspicuous, he coordinates seamlessly with both 666 and 68, moving fluidly between them. That’s quite rare. His judgment and strength are definitely strong."

[This positioning, this fighting style, it’s Pinky and his friends! I’m absolutely sure, I knew their moves from the previous two rounds seemed familiar, so this is why!]

[They must be the underground arena team champions, ’Yeah, Whatever!’]

Now that the audience had identified The Chosen One as Pinky, guessing the identities of the other two players was easy.

Yonda, forced to follow the chat, learned about Yeah, Whatever’s dominant history in the underground arena.

Outside, having left Misty Land and under the protection of the Alliance Army, Shawn and Philip watched the livestream on an optic computer, exchanging looks.

Philip, with a face of despair, said to Shawn, "Did I, in front of Yuka, brag about our nicknames and rankings in the underground arena?"

Shawn numbly nodded.

Philip groaned, clutching his hair, his face turning red with shame as he realized why Yuka’s expression, and Ayoi and Alex’s glances at him, were so strange.

After the wave of embarrassment, the thought of his crush actually being Pinky, the very opponent who had frustrated him and even left him with psychological scars, made Philip feel utterly hopeless, his eyes vacant.

Shawn patted his shoulder, sighed with him, and turned back to watch the situation on the screen.

Yuka scavenged two optic computers from the mechas she had defeated. After having the butler unlock them, she handed one to Ayoi and Alex, advising, "Follow the livestream’s route to avoid space pirates and get out first."

Ayoi asked, "Yuka, what about you?"

Yuka replied, "I’m going to go deeper; Donny and others are still trapped inside."

Considering their damaged mechas and their own physical exhaustion from the intense activity, Ayoi and Alex realized they would likely slow Yuka down. After some thought, they decided to follow Yuka’s advice, taking the optic computer and retreating while following the livestream.

In the livestream chat, the audience finally heard Number 666’s name. Yuka’s classmates from UUA couldn’t resist and shared Yuka’s name in the chat, hinting at her special status.
