Chapter 130: Consequences (1)

The good news from the front lines quickly dispersed the gloom that had been hovering over the people of the Alliance.

’The Alliance Army is indeed reliable,’ many thought to themselves. Consequently, on the interstellarnet, many previous insulting comments about the Alliance Army were quietly deleted by their posters, and replaced with words of praise and gratitude. freewebnσvel.cѳm

Yuka looked at these comments, expressionless, then turned off her opticomputer and left her room.

Five minutes later, she arrived at Central Square. She located the meeting spot she had arranged with Toru and Kimiko. Before she could get close, she saw them waving their arms excitedly, faces red as they talked to each other.

Seeing Yuka, their emotions hadn’t yet settled. With puffy, red eyes, they stared at her as she approached, as if harboring deep hatred towards her.

Yuka remained silent.

When Yuka stood in front of them, Toru quickly spoke before Kimiko, "I’ve got Humphrey’s notes, all of his own written confessions. He thinks they’re his masterpiece, ugh... This can be used as evidence. Also, I took pictures of his chat records on his opticomputer. He sold mecha designs to space pirates and even has connections with the royal family. I also photographed the transaction records from the space pirates to him, enough to prove his collusion with both the space pirates and the royal family."

Toru’s findings came at a cost. Ever since he almost got caught by Humphrey while snooping in the office, Humphrey had been wary of him, constantly testing him.

Initially, Tanaka’s students helped Toru deal with Humphrey, but later, when Toru was assigned to a closed experiment with just the two of them, he had to start lying cautiously, even deliberately damaging precious experimental materials to anger Humphrey and get kicked out of the lab to gather evidence.

This morning, Toru finally seized an opportunity. While Humphrey was distracted, he knocked him out with a beaker to the back of his head, and locked him in the lab.

Then Toru quickly stole the notes from his office, recorded the evidence, and then rushed out of the science academy to meet Yuka.

Toru knew that whether he exposed Humphrey or not, whether people believed him or not, he probably wouldn’t be able to work at the Alliance Science Academy anymore. But he had to unveil this hypocrite’s true face; science must not be desecrated.

After Toru finished, Kimiko quickly added, "My information comes from my teachers and my grandfather."

Kimiko had accompanied her teachers to remote planets to find witnesses of the Battle of Honor, since previously there were only oral histories. After much hardship, they finally found some video materials from that time.

"We met an old man who agreed to give us the video materials the next day," Kimiko said with a sniffle. "But when we went to his house the next day, he had passed away. We found the materials he had hidden in the place we agreed upon. I suspect the royal family was involved in his death, but we had no evidence. We had to leave with the teachers."

"I was in a bad state when I got home. My grandfather asked me what happened, so I told him about it," Kimiko continued. "Then he gave me a confession record from the then-dean of the Alliance Science Academy, who had witnessed the Battle of Honor."

"I said I wanted to take this evidence and expose them, and my grandfather agreed."

It sounded easy, but in reality, Kimiko had a big argument with Tanaka, breaking many things. Finally, Tanaka realized that his granddaughter would risk being expelled by the UUA, and wasn’t afraid of retaliation from the Alliance Army, the royal family, or the academy. Knowing he couldn’t persuade her, he sighed deeply and tearfully sent her out.

After listening to them, Yuka asked, "Are you going to expose this now? The Alliance is quite chaotic at the moment, and people might not notice."

"It’s already chaotic now, a bit more won’t make a difference," Kimiko said. "I specifically chose Central Square because it’s crowded."

Toru seemed to agree. "I plan to stand next to the Alliance flag, on that small podium, and speak."

Yuka sighed, covering her forehead. "How come both of you are so bold? You weren’t like this when we first met, right?"

She asked them resignedly, "Alright, do you need my help?"

Toru and Kimiko shook their heads. "Not for now." They knew the impact their actions might have on the Alliance and didn’t want to involve Yuka.

After sharing their plans with Yuka, Toru, and Kimiko calmed down a bit.

Kimiko suddenly slapped her head, laughing, "Yuka, I saw you at the Academy Tournament. You were so cool! From today, you are my hero!"

Toru also chimed in, "I saw it too. Yuka has been my hero for a long time!"

Yuka smiled shyly, looking past their admiring expressions and shining eyes, to the small podium Toru mentioned, and then further ahead to the commercial buildings behind the Alliance flag.

Yuka gazed at the huge advertising screen for a few seconds before suddenly turning to Toru and Kimiko, "Can I get a copy of the evidence you have?"

Trusting Yuka completely, Toru and Kimiko immediately transferred all the evidence from their opticomputers to hers.

Yuka asked the butler to safeguard the data in the opticomputer and then led Toru and Kimiko toward the commercial building.

This building wasn’t owned by Hideki, so Yuka couldn’t just do whatever she wanted here.

Inside, Yuka found a security guard and asked him to contact the manager of the mall. Recognizing Yuka, the guard, shocked and assumed that Yuka wanted to speak with the manager due to a space pirate intrusion. The guard hurriedly contacted the manager.

In less than two minutes, the panting manager arrived in front of Yuka. Seeing their panicked yet slightly excited expressions, Yuka, not knowing what they had imagined, was pleased with their efficiency.

With a casual tone, as if commenting on the weather, she said to the manager, "I’ll buy this building."

The manager was puzzled. But five minutes later, he, representing the building’s owner, accepted double the asking price from Yuka and respectfully handed her the key to the advertising room.

Yuka took the key and instructed the manager, "Immediately clear out the mall, leave only the security staff, then lock all the doors, and don’t let anyone in."

The manager and security, facing such a wealthy and decisive new owner, didn’t question her orders and executed them without hesitation, responding with a loud "Yes!"

Kimiko and Toru watched as Yuka, like a generous benefactor, casually spent a fortune. With complicated expressions, they followed her into the control room of the large screen.
