Rebirth: The Universe's Hidden Heiress-Chapter 131: Consequences (2)
Chapter 131: Consequences (2)
Yuka took out the butler from her pocket, connected it to the console, and loaded the copied evidence, ready to broadcast. Toru and Kimiko, wearing headsets, sat beside Yuka, nervously fidgeting and taking deep breaths to calm their racing hearts.
Soon, the manager reported to Yuka through the intercom, "Everyone has left the mall."
Yuka acknowledged with a "Got it," turned off the intercom, and nodded to Toru and Kimiko.
At that moment in Central Square, many people, who were abruptly and inexplicably kicked out of the mall, gathered outside. Some were angrily preparing to sue the mall, while others gossiped about what might have happened inside that led to their eviction.
"Hello, everyone," a nervous young voice rang out.
Everyone looked up at the sound and saw that the giant advertising screen, which usually showed glamorous women, had turned blank.
"I am Toru, a logistics student from UUA’s Combat Department," Toru found it easier to speak the truth than he had imagined.
He continued with confidence, "I interned at the Alliance Science Academy for a month. During this time, I discovered that the academy’s dean, Humphrey, is colluding with space pirates and the royalty. They’re trading mecha blueprints and providing research on insectoids to space pirates!"
"I swear by the truth, every word I say is true. If I lie, I shall never participate in any scientific research again," Toru declared firmly. "The story Humphrey told you, about the vice dean escaping with insectoid eggs and being expelled from the academy, was all his own scheme!"
On the mall’s big screen, there was now a clear broadcast showing Humphrey and the emperor’s interactions with space pirates, including transaction records. They had purchased a large amount of Oniyon from the space pirates, planning to secretly build mechas, train private armies, and cover for the space pirates’ entry into the Alliance.
More and more people gathered around Central Square to watch. They were shocked, thinking how the respected dean of the Science Academy and the proud royalty could betray the Alliance.
It was unforgivable!
Some people didn’t believe the evidence presented by Toru and yelled at the mall building, asking those inside to come out and stop spreading rumors.
However, as Toru spoke, another screen displayed a notebook belonging to Humphrey. The pages slowly turned, revealing content that was both mad and cruel, silencing the clamoring crowd below.
"... He conducted inhumane human experiments, trying to control insectoids for immortality. The former dean tried to stop him, so he released the Queen, forcing the former dean to self-destruct in space with the Queen. He then framed the then assistant dean Nori, forcing him to leave the academy."
Toru glanced at the opticomputer Yuka had pushed towards him and continued to read, his eyes widening, "There’s more. Pneyon wasn’t developed by Humphrey. It was Nori’s creation. Humphrey is nothing but a despicable thief, a treacherous betrayer, a criminal without humanity!"
People who had just come to Central Square to watch the excitement were stunned. Some quickly took out their opticomputers to record the scene, while others frantically asked around if what Toru said was true.
They pulled out their opticomputers to fiercely question the official accounts of the Alliance Science Academy and the royalty. Some even rushed towards the mall, trying to break in and drag out the people inside, but they were stopped by the mall’s security.
Just when everyone thought all the revelations had been made, the advertising screen flickered again, displaying a confession letter.
"Hello everyone, my name is Kimiko, granddaughter of the former dean of the Alliance Science Academy, Tanaka, and a history student at UUA," Kimiko said, taking a deep breath to stay calm.
"The screen shows a confession written by the dean of the Alliance Science Academy after the Battle of Honor a hundred years ago. He confessed to not listening to his predecessors, leading people from the Academy with the Queen’s eggs to a deserted planet near Capital Octoxis for experiments. This allowed the Queen to grow into an adult, bringing disaster to the Alliance."
"When the Queen and its insectoid army invaded Capital Octoxis, the royalty and nobles used common people as human shields to buy time for their escape," Kimiko said with a cold laugh.
"And what was the Alliance Army doing at that time? They were negotiating, demanding benefits from the royalty and the Academy, not caring for the lives of the people!"
"In the end, the Academy and royalty gave many benefits to the Alliance Army, who agreed to erase this part of history, leaving only a one-sided story of the Battle of Honor."
The butler played a video on the big screen, stolen by Kimiko from her teachers. It showed people being driven to the frontlines, screaming as they were hunted and killed by insectoids, while the royalty and nobles in the distance moved their wealth, preparing to flee.
The giant screen filled with blood and screams, and the people standing in Central Square fell silent, watching this deliberately buried history they never knew.
Some turned away, unable to bear the sight, but couldn’t block out the piercing cries. Their own people had suffered such slaughter, yet those responsible had casually erased this history. They knew their crimes but never mentioned them in a hundred years, never apologized, and continued to enjoy praise, support, and dedication without remorse.
Some people covered their mouths, crying, some disbelievingly squatted down in tears, and others furiously questioned the royalty, the Alliance Science Academy, and the Alliance Army on the interstellarnet about the truth of these events.
Others, unaware of the truth, joined in, then left in anger, quickly forming a powerful force demanding accountability from these three powers.
If it was false, they would apologize to the three powers and turn to condemn the rumormongers; if it was true...
They wondered blankly what they could do if it was true. ’Do we even have the power to resist?’
Yuka, who already knew the truth, sat silently in the advertisement control room, somewhat surprised that the Alliance Army hadn’t sent anyone to capture them.
Looking at the dense, agitated crowd below, she understood why the Alliance Army dared not approach. Their arrival might provoke an uncontrollable reaction from the emotionally charged crowd. If they retaliated, it would only confirm the evidence just shown; however, doing nothing while being attacked was also not an option.
Yuka’s opticomputer chimed with a notification from an unfamiliar number. After a few seconds, she answered the call.
Toru and Kimiko had already turned off their headsets and left the room, giving Yuka some privacy.
The voice of the General Fleet Admiral, weary, came through, "Yuka, your move was really drastic."
Yuka gently patted the butler’s head, saying, "I haven’t broken any agreements, right? The evidence was discovered by Toru and Kimiko. I just gave them a little help."
She truly hadn’t expected Toru and Kimiko to uncover so much, nor their boldness in revealing it.
"There’s always a consequence for actions," Yuka said with a light laugh, hinting mysteriously, "My dad told me when I was young, that debts always have to be repaid."
General Fleet Admiral stayed silent for a while, then abruptly ended the call without a word.
Yuka didn’t mind the rudeness. She opened her opticomputer to check the current situation online.
The interstellarnet went crazy again — the royal family had responded.
