Rebirth: The Universe's Hidden Heiress-Chapter 150: Future Plans
Chapter 150: Future Plans
On the way back, Yuka requested from Toru the list of Stellar Corps members who had perished in the conflict.
As she scanned the names, each a reminder of the sacrifices made, she informed her crew that the Stellar Corps would be disbanded.
The Corps, formed specifically to combat the Queen, had achieved its purpose, and its dissolution, while logical, cast a shadow of melancholy over the group.
The faces around her mirrored the sense of loss, understanding yet somber at the disbandment of the Corps they had served with honor.
Yuka, sensing their sadness, offered a reassuring smile, saying, "Even though the Stellar Corps is disbanding, your bravery and contributions will never be forgotten. Your rewards and honors will remain intact. We are, and will always be, comrades. Should you choose to join the Alliance Army in the future, remember the principles that guided you here – the cause for which you fought and the people you fought to protect."
Everyone responded in unison, "Yes, Commander!"
Toru, after a brief hesitation, brought up the subject of Yuka’s future role. "Commander, will you take over the Alliance Army and become the new General Fleet Admiral? Or will you manage the Alliance?"
Seeing Yuka’s puzzled look, Toru explained, "You have the highest reputation now, almost as much as Admiral Kuba. If he leads the Alliance Army, there might be new reforms. And if you manage the Alliance, I think the whole Alliance will become even better."
"The Alliance will get better, but not under the management of just one person," Yuka replied, putting down the list. "I’ve always believed that one person can’t manage the Alliance well, otherwise it would end up like the old monarchy. The Alliance needs to be managed collectively by everyone. We’ll take it slow."
"And," Yuka continued, "Ah, my hand hurts, my head aches, and I feel dizzy. I don’t think my frail body can handle managing the Alliance. Besides, I haven’t even graduated from college yet... And, as many of you have already know, there’s a huge family fortune waiting for me to inherit back home... Sorry, just can’t fail my dad’s expectation this time."
The group fell silent.
Toru finally said, "...I understand." fгeewebnovёl.com
After a five-hour space flight, everyone had adjusted their mood, and the spacecraft returned to Capital Octoxis. The news of victory had already spread throughout the Alliance. When the people waiting outside the space station saw them, they erupted in cheers, throwing flowers and Alliance flags to welcome the victorious heroes home.
Everyone understood that without these protectors, they wouldn’t be as safe as they were now. So, when Kenji proposed to build a monument for the fallen, no one objected. In fact, many volunteered to help build it.
Their joy over the war’s victory was as intense as their hatred for those who caused it.
Once back in Capital Octoxis, Yuka handed over the disbandment of the Stellar Corps to the butler, letting it handle the matter while she and Kenji went to the Alliance prison.
Humphrey, once a figure of immense power, now lay curled up in a corner of his cell. Days of surviving solely on bland nutrient fluid and enduring relentless interrogations had taken their toll.
Though he had divulged every secret he knew, today was different – the cell was eerily quiet, with no one coming for questioning.
A gnawing sense of dread filled him as he heard the prison door creak open.
In a desperate plea, he clutched at the visitor’s pant leg, his voice barely more than a whisper, "What about the Queen? Is the Queen dead?"
"Yes," Yuka replied, stepping back to free her pants from his grip. "She’s dead. The war is over."
Humphrey’s eyes widened in shock and disbelief. "No, that’s impossible! How could you defeat her? She was perfection incarnate, possessing what no human could – a lifespan centuries long, unmatched reproductive capabilities... How dare you destroy such a marvel?!"
In a futile, frantic attempt to attack Yuka and possibly escape, Humphrey lunged at her. However, he was swiftly and effortlessly kicked back into the corner by Kenji, who watched him with a mixture of pity and disgust.
As Humphrey lay there, convulsing in disbelief and murmuring denials, Yuka remarked to Kenji, "He’s completely lost his mind. Let him spend his remaining days here, haunted by his delusions."
Kenji nodded in agreement, his expression stern.
Before exiting the cell, he lingered a moment, instructing the prison warden in a cold tone, "Make sure Humphrey hears the news of the Queen’s death every day. Let it be his eternal reminder."
The warden, understanding the gravity of the situation, silently nodded, deciding to amplify this torment by repeating the news twice daily.
For his heinous crimes against the Alliance, Humphrey deserved no less.
As Kenji and Yuka left the prison, they returned to the Alliance Army headquarters, seated in the back of a sleek Lev.
To maintain privacy, they raised the partition, shielding themselves from the curious and speculative gazes of their subordinates.
In this secluded space, Kenji turned to Yuka, breaking the slightly awkward silence with a lighter topic, "What are your plans for the winter break?"
Yuka, her face illuminated by the soft light filtering through the window, responded with a mix of contemplation and excitement, "I’ve got quite a few ideas. There’s traveling to other planets with friends, catching up on that overly dramatic series I started, and maybe even a visit to the underground arena for some thrill..."
Suddenly, Yuka leaned closer to Kenji, wrapping her arms around his neck. This time, there was no cold metallic sensation on his back. She couldn’t resist touching it again, then whispered in his ear, "But right now, what I really want to do is to finish what we started last time in your office."
Kenji knew his ears were turning red, but he didn’t mind the teasing in Yuka’s eyes. He pulled her closer, hugging her waist tightly, and returned her tease with a deep kiss.
After all, they had plenty of time now.
