Chapter 163: [Parallel World] Happy Ever After

Note: The Parallel World series happened in a parallel universe; the plot and settings are completely unrelated to the previous story. This Yuka is still the famous "Vase."

Nori, of course, understood the potential danger of his research. He calmed down and turned to Kenji and Yuka, saying, "I plan to first introduce this drug within the Alliance Army. Is that okay?"

The Alliance Science Academy, as an independent research institution, couldn’t withstand external conspiracies and manipulations, especially from alpha heirs of ruling families. If they wanted, they could easily hinder the drug’s implementation.

The Alliance Army, however, was different. Many soldiers in the army were betas, suffering from their heat cycles each month and often looked down upon by other alphas.

Nori believed they would be eager to try the drug. Moreover, the Alliance Army was an untouchable giant for those opposing alphas. Introducing the drug from within the army would likely lead to quicker acceptance and face fewer obstacles.

Kenji nodded in agreement and was then taken by Nori to provide more pheromones for the experiment.

After being kicked out of the lab by a fully engaged Nori, Kenji, walking out, noticed Yuka’s smiling eyes. He broke the silence after two seconds, "You seem very happy."

"I am," Yuka turned to Kenji. "If Nori’s research succeeds, I hope you’ll take the drug too."

"Why?" Kenji couldn’t help but ask.

"Because this way, even if I’m not around, you won’t suffer from the absence of my pheromone," Yuka said with a smile. "It might not be nice to talk about this now, but no one knows what’s coming next. Accidents happen every day. I think someone as exceptional as you shouldn’t be restrained by anyone, not even me."

Kenji stopped in his tracks, then suddenly reached out and hugged Yuka tightly, wrapping his arms around her waist and burying his face in her hair. He whispered softly, "Thank you."

And then—

"I love you."

On Monday morning, Yuka sat at the edge of the playground. Ayoi and Alex stood on either side of her, their faces serious as they stared at her.

Yuka scratched her head and said, "I really didn’t think much at that moment. You both know how uncontrollable it is when pheromones take over. But since I’ve marked him for life, I’ll take responsibility for him... Don’t look at me like that, I’m not bad, I swear!!"

Ayoi and Alex asked at the same time, "So, are you planning to get married? When is the big day?"

"..." Yuka was silent for two seconds, then said, "I’ll ask him."

After class, Yuka took out her opticomputer, intending to message Kenji, but then she received a call from Hideki.

Once connected, she heard him say, "Yuka, I’ve been busy lately and missed your earlier message. You said a few days ago that you’ve marked Admiral Kuba for life. What are your plans?"

"I’m going to marry him," Yuka said. "Dad, I’m going to find him soon and talk to him about this in person."

Such an important matter as marriage seemed too huge to be handled just through the opticomputers, so Yuka decided to meet Kenji in person to discuss it and find out his intentions.

"That’s good," Hideki nodded at Yuka. "Yuka, your mom left us early, and I haven’t told you much about her."

Yuka was a bit stunned. She didn’t understand why Hideki suddenly brought up her mother, but she had seen the love Hideki had for her. Despite his wealth and status, Hideki had never remarried, even though he certainly wouldn’t lack betas wanting to marry him.

"When your mom left, she said she hoped you would find someone you love and spend your life with him. She didn’t want you to separate early like us. She was sad she couldn’t watch you grow up or be with me for life," Hideki reminisced. "When you turned sixteen and became an alpha with a unique pheromone, I’ve always been worried about you."

"I used to think, until before you messaged me, what if you never found a partner for life. But then I thought, even if you didn’t find the person you liked, loved, I’d make sure you’d live a worry-free and happy life."

"Now that you’ve found the person you like, of course, you have my blessings," Hideki said with a relieved smile. "If he ever makes you upset, remember, I am and will always be your rock. Leave the wedding arrangements to me. Our family owns several companies that handle wedding matters."

Yuka nodded, smiling, "Thank you, Dad."

Hideki nodded gladly, urging Yuka to go meet Kenji, then ended the call.

Meanwhile, Kenji was in a conversation with General Fleet Admiral.

As soon as Kenji entered the General Fleet Admiral’s office, the Admiral noticed the life-mark bite on Kenji’s neck and frowned, asking, "Who is it?"

Kenji didn’t react at first, but by the time he did, the General Fleet Admiral had already obtained his recent whereabouts.

On the planet where they lived, eyes of the Alliance Army were everywhere. General Fleet Admiral easily found a photo of Kenji and Yuka leaving a hotel together and pointed at Yuka in the picture, asking, "Is she the one with a 100% pheromone match with you?"

"Yes," Kenji replied.

The General Fleet Admiral’s face darkened, and he spoke in a low tone to Kenji, "Kenji, I understand your reluctance to marry into the governing family, but it’s the best choice for the Alliance Army. As the governing family grows stronger, the Alliance Army can’t be an isolated force without political ties. Even if you don’t want to marry into the governing family, you shouldn’t act recklessly, getting involved with Taira Yuka, a rich heiress who stays out of politics, and someone with no real background!"

General Fleet Admiral was frustrated, suspecting Kenji was doing this deliberately to upset him. But he didn’t expect Kenji to lift his head and, for the first time, contradict him after hearing his words.

"I genuinely like Yuka, sir, not for any other benefit. I will marry her, and no one can stop me," Kenji said seriously.

General Fleet Admiral was stunned into silence.

Kenji was someone the Admiral had picked up from a garbage planet, raised from childhood, and step by step pushed into the Alliance Army, watching him climb to his current position, becoming the youngest admiral in the history of the Alliance Army, and soon to be the youngest General Fleet Admiral.

And now, Kenji was defying him for Yuka, for an alpha with a terrible reputation.

Kenji furrowed his brows, nodded at the Admiral, set down the report he was supposed to deliver, and left the Admiral’s office.

After Kenji left, General Fleet Admiral sat deep in thought, his expression dark.

Kenji headed to his office.

Seeing him return, a subordinate guarding the door quickly saluted and said, "Sir, your... um... Miss Taira Yuka is here!"

He knew he should refer to Yuka as the officer’s "mate," but he just couldn’t say it out loud.

Kenji’s previously somber face brightened immediately. He pushed open the door to his office and saw Yuka sitting in his office chair, playfully spinning a pen holder.

When Yuka saw him enter, she immediately rushed to him and they shared a brief kiss.

The subordinate at the door froze for a second. Then he quickly covered his eyes, closed the door for his superior, and prepared to stand guard, making sure no one disturbed them, especially since he saw his superior kissing an alpha in the office!

"I’m here to propose marriage to you," Yuka said, her hands around Kenji’s neck, her warm breath tickling his ear, "It might be a bit out of nowhere, but I want to marry you soon. Is that okay?"

She mentioned something she found on the way here, using her butler to search the interstellarnet, "I heard that getting married in college can earn extra credits."

Kenji laughed and, holding her waist, sat down, letting her lean against his chest. He whispered to her, "What a coincidence, I was thinking of marrying you soon too."

He thought for a moment, then decided to tell Yuka the truth, "General Fleet Admiral has been pressing me to marry someone from the governing family. I don’t want to..."

"I understand," Yuka said cheerfully, "So, shall we go submit our marriage application today?"

In the Alliance, the marriage application reviewers would contact the pheromone matching center to measure compatibility, and then they would detail both parties’ records from childhood to ensure both are willing, before registering the marriage and recording their names.

This process usually takes two to three days, so submitting the application now was not too early.

However, what Yuka and Kenji didn’t expect was that as soon as they submitted the application, the pheromone matching center received the news and arranged a fast track for them. They could go take their photo and get their marriage registered right away.

Yuka and Kenji exchanged a glance, silently got up, and together pushed open the office door.

The subordinate at the door heard his superior say, "Drive us to the marriage registration office."

Subordinate almost dropped his jaw. He absentmindedly drove his superior and the alpha to the marriage registration office. When they came out holding roses from the registration center, he still hadn’t fully grasped the situation.

’What the heck? I’ve only stood outside the office for five minutes, and suddenly Admiral Kenji is married?’

A minute after registering their relationship, Yuka sent the photo of the marriage record to Hideki, Ayoi, and Alex.

She soon received blessings from Hideki and shocked emoticons from Ayoi and Alex.

Satisfied, she turned off her opticomputer.

...

A month later.

The former General Fleet Admiral sat among the guests, watching Kenji walk towards him with Yuka in his arms.

Kenji had no parents, so he had taken on the role of Kenji’s elder. The former General Fleet Admiral patted Kenji on the shoulder with mixed emotions, glanced at Yuka, and said to Kenji, "You’ve grown up now, kid."

Now the sitting General Fleet Admiral, Kenji nodded and said to his predecessor, "Thank you for your care over the years, but I truly love Yuka, and I will only marry her in this lifetime."

Nori, sitting among the guests next to Hideki, said to him, "My formula has been fully implemented in the Alliance Army. In one minute, my scheduled announcement will be released."

Hideki, wiping tears from the corner of his eyes and looking at Yuka’s happy smile, asked Nori, "Is this your wedding gift to them?"

"...Sort of," Nori replied awkwardly, "But they both made indispensable contributions to the development of my formula."

A minute later, the entire Alliance saw the explosive news published by the Deputy Dean of the Alliance Science Academy.

A new type of suppressant was on the market, primarily made of a substance called Oniyon. It could prevent betas and alphas from emitting pheromones that affect others, and also stop them from being influenced by others’ pheromones. The success of Oniyon’s development owed much to the recent buzz around the newlyweds, Yuka and Kenji.

Most betas were ecstatic, quickly buying up the first batch of suppressant.

No longer under the control of alphas’ pheromones, they were immensely grateful to Yuka and Kenji, with many voluntarily joining the Alliance Army.

Some alphas were unhappy with the emergence of this drug, calling it anti-human, but after the Alliance Army revealed a conspiracy by space pirates, the alphas dared not complain. Fearing being killed by the pirates’ drugs, they quietly purchased the new suppressants.

The space pirates, having lost their secret weapon, were swiftly captured by the unaffected forces of the Alliance Army, restoring peace and stability to the Alliance.

Years later, the differences between ABO individuals had completely vanished, but everyone would always remember the two people who had made significant historical contributions.

The End.
