Reborn As A Ghost: Time To Build My Undead Army!-Chapter 1786: The Invaders From Thebes
-----
A pair of golden, glittering eyes gazed down upon the neighborhood in Seattle. The giant humans slowly made their way home, chatting, laughing, and living their ordinary lives.
Yet the one watching them felt nothing but burning anger at their carefree existence. If it were up to him, he would enslave these titans and forge them into an unstoppable force capable of conquering entire worlds.
A strange, invisible power of this world shielded them at all costs, treating every Player—including him and his towering pyramids—as harmless toys.
The living toys he had captured and destroyed often spoke of the "Toy Maker," an enigmatic god of toys. They believed that after death, they would be reborn as new playthings for new owners, forever repeating the cycle.
These toys saw themselves as vital to the world, bringing joy to the childhoods of their owners and shaping their futures. The more happiness they inspired, the better those owners would grow, becoming pillars of society.
The more love they received, the stronger they became upon awakening sentience as Toykin.
"What a ridiculous world," the man muttered, clicking his tongue in disgust. "To think such a place connects to the Tower. Anything goes here, doesn’t it? These foolish toys aren’t entirely worthless, though. They carry that precious essence within them—the power of Imagination, able to breathe life into lifeless objects and even create souls. It’s perfect nourishment for our Fallen Lord, Anubis, to finally awaken from his eternal slumber."
He lounged upon a throne of pure gold. His body was tall and slender, with warm brown skin, long black hair, and flowing Egyptian garments, silky white robes adorned with golden accessories. His eyes were lined with the traditional kohl reserved for royalty in Thebes, descendants of the Seven Great Divine Families, each devoted to a different god.
Yet he was no ordinary human. Black jackal-like ears twitched atop his head, and a matching tail swayed behind him, betraying his growing impatience as annoyance darkened his features.
"Isn’t that right, everyone?" he asked. Those around him nodded swiftly, their hands guiding the massive, technologically advanced flying pyramid that fused magic and machinery seamlessly.
"Yes, Lord Ameth-Ra."
"Lord Anubis’ statue grows stronger by the hour."
"His slumbering Divine Soul is awakening rapidly."
"Energy reserves have reached eighty percent!"
"We’ve sent the crystallized cores back home as well. They serve as exceptional new fuel."
"Your father expressed great pride in you. He believes this fuel could power nearly anything."
"I see." Ameth-Ra’s smile carried quiet pride. "I despise this world, though. It’s so dull and ordinary, filled only with these grotesque, oversized toys. I cannot wait to leave. Father promised my return once the Divine Tomb of Anubis reaches one hundred percent. Any toys nearby?"
"Yes! Chasing Drone Number One has located something," a servant replied, fingers flying across a control panel. Holographic windows bloomed open, revealing live camera feeds. "A small group of toys, heading straight toward us."
"Hmm?" Ameth-Ra’s lips curved into a smirk. "Hah! Don’t tell me they’re foolish enough to challenge us? Hahaha!"
"There’s more than just toys."
"A large group of Players accompanies them!" 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"A woman with long white hair and red eyes leads the charge!"
"What? Players aiding them? Why waste their time? We’ve never attacked a single Player," Ameth-Ra snapped. "We’ve remained neutral. They should stay out of our affairs!"
He leaned closer to the footage. The woman rose into the sky, drawing a strange sword from a black void in her chest. With one devastating slash, she struck the advancing soldiers.
Over thirty Theban Machines surged forward, brimming with energy from their Golden Sand Cores, fueled by the rare, supernatural sand of Thebes.
Yet...
SLASH!
BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM!
A single swing shattered dozens of the towering pharaoh-like constructs. They exploded into fragments, raining down like harmless debris beneath the moonlight.
"Hmm?!" Shock twisted Ameth-Ra’s face. "W-What...! How is this possible? Those Theban Machines rival SS+ Rank monsters!"
"They’ve breached the First Pyramid!"
"How did they infiltrate?"
"The forcefield was designed to withstand even SSS Rank attacks!"
"This defies all reason!"
Panic rippled through the chamber. Ameth-Ra rose abruptly, sweat beading on his brow, hands trembling as he jabbed at the holographic images.
"Summon the Second Pyramid! We must combine them and embody Lord Anubis himself!" he commanded. He was not foolish—he recognized true danger when it arrived.
"Are you certain?"
"At current power levels, we cannot guarantee—"
"It doesn’t matter! If we perish, everything is lost!"
The second pyramid streaked across the night sky, docking with the largest. Metal groaned and fused with thunderous echoes that shook the heavens.
Meanwhile, inside the First Pyramid, Maria and her allies had already stormed the interior.
The formidable forcefield that had repelled the Toykin Warriors shattered effortlessly beneath Maria’s blade. Her companions stared in silent awe.
Their eyes perceived what others could not. The sword pulsed with her soul, her dreams, her memories, and her deepest hopes. It mirrored the very power that had granted them life.
"We’re breaking through at last! Gahahaha!" Wrecker roared with laughter, smashing golems with his massive fists. "You’ll all pay for what you did to our friends!"
"Christine! Stay close!" Bobby shouted, charging ahead and slicing through incoming drones resembling golden jackals, blazing birds, and jeweled frogs with his enormous scissors.
"I know, Bobby!" Christine replied with a fierce smile. "But I’ve hunted Wild Beasts beyond the city too. I’m not the fragile doll you remember!" She thrust her giant pen like a spear, piercing and shattering machines one after another.
Explosions thundered through the corridors as Itsy shielded the children inside. The young ones leaped into the fray, battling armored soldiers.
"I never imagined Thebes was this advanced technologically," Maria called out. "Umbralheim and Olympus rely almost entirely on magic, but these people are different!" She swung her sword in rapid arcs, unleashing devastating techniques that cleaved through every enemy in her path.
Dozens of soldiers fell instantly, bodies torn apart, blood and viscera splattering the pyramid’s interior in crimson streaks.
"Arise!"
She raised them as zombies in an instant, interrogating them about their astonishing technology and whether they had truly invented it themselves.
From their broken words, she learned that Thebes possessed rare resources from their original world and those they had conquered. Chief among them was Golden Sand, a metallic substance with profound supernatural properties, difficult to harness through magic alone.
Magic existed in Thebes, born from worship of their Egyptian gods and the spirits of the Endless Dunes.
Yet what set them apart was their fusion of technology and magic.
