Chapter 1787: Attacking The Pyramid UFOs

-----

Through many years of interactions with the tower and its countless worlds, the people of Thebes had learned from highly advanced civilizations Maria had yet to visit—especially one entirely dominated by machines.

From those lessons, they recreated and refined such technology using their own unique resources, channeling the power of the Golden Sands to elevate it far beyond the lowly machines they had imitated.

Hundreds of years had passed since then, and Thebes had firmly established itself as a powerhouse among the Upper Floors, ruling over ten entire worlds.

Maria had even uncovered the grim truth behind their extraction of Toykin souls: they fed them to a malevolent Egyptian god that had slumbered for ages, sealed within a highly advanced Divine Tomb—a powerful Core housed deep inside the colossal Pyramid.

"I see how it is! Damn it, I hate how cool they are," Maria muttered, clicking her tongue in frustration.

The fusion of sci-fi technology with Egyptian mythology and aesthetics struck a deep chord within her. She found it honestly, ridiculously cool.

Yet she could not afford to feel admiration for enemies she was in the process of slaughtering.

"Well, they’re all going to become my friends anyway!"

Maria charged through the corridors alongside Lucifer, Partner, Emeraldine, Alma, and the toys, while the rest of her family tore through the Pyramid’s interior, crushing every foe in their path.

"Stop right there, invaders!"

"Don’t you dare come any closer!"

"Attack them!"

A squad of twelve soldiers appeared, clad in golden mechanical armor shaped like Egyptian gods and studded with brilliant jewels. They leveled glowing spears and unleashed beams of searing light.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Maria summoned a dome of swords around herself and her companions, deflecting the blasts and sending the explosions roaring back into the soldiers’ faces.

"Compared to what I faced in Murim, you guys are a walk in the park!"

She kicked forward, transforming her own legs into blades by channeling her Sword Soul Heart, slashing through their mechanical armor and tearing open their chests.

The humans beneath the suits were strong, but they stood no chance alone against the Toykin, especially Wrecker, who pummeled them into the ground.

"Hahaha! I take back everything I said before—you guys are awesome!" Wrecker laughed heartily.

"Wrecker, don’t get too cocky! Come on, move!" Bobby shouted.

The Toykin surged toward the sealed door and shattered it, revealing the control room inside the Egyptian Tower and a general serving directly under Prince Ameth-Ra’s command.

"D-Damn it! How did you get here so quickly?! Those useless soldiers!"

The general shared the same traits as most Thebans—black hair, clear or dark brown skin, and a tall, slender build with jackal ears and tail. This man, however, looked visibly aged, white streaks threading through his long black mane, and a bionic eye glinting in place of one natural one.

"Don’t underestimate me! I have mastered the power to weaponize these toys!"

He rose swiftly, realizing escape was impossible, and mechanical armor rapidly assembled around him as he summoned a golden spear.

From its tip, an ethereal pink flame roared to life.

"T-That bastard...!" Wrecker roared.

"He’s wielding our souls as weapons?!" Bobby gasped.

"That’s... the soul of someone he tore apart. It holds their memories of their Owner, of the childhood they shared..." Christine said, voice trembling with rage. "How could you be so cruel as to turn it into a crude weapon?!"

"Hmph! You’re nothing but talking toys—silence!" the man bellowed, charging forward in his powerful armor. "All of you will die!"

He unleashed a storm of piercing strikes, shockwaves and pink flames erupting violently, hurling everyone backward.

"D-Damn it...! Ugh!" Bobby groaned.

"It’s too strong!" Wrecker shouted. "How?!"

"He’s turning our own power against us..." Christine whispered.

"Hey, jackass! Take this!" Itsy dropped from the ceiling, firing a glowing ethereal spiderweb that pinned the man to the floor.

"Nngh?! Disgusting! What is this?!" he screamed, struggling to cut himself free with his spear.

"Now, you guys!" Itsy called.

"Go—this is your war!" Maria said, waving her hands and infusing their bodies with the power of Dreams.

As she knew...

FLAAASH!

...it resonated most powerfully with the Toykin.

In an instant, their ethereal cores fully crystallized—something that normally only happened upon death.

But this time, they transformed into solid Dream Hearts.

No—something even greater.

They became Imagination Soul Hearts, an evolved and superior form of Dream Hearts.

Moreover, the weapons they carried awakened into true Dream Weapons, their power surging to unimaginable heights.

"I WON’T LET YOU HURT MY FRIENDS ANYMORE!" Wrecker roared, swinging his fists with devastating force, shattering the general’s armor in explosions of sparks and metal.

"YOUR CRUELTY ENDS TONIGHT!" Christine’s pen blazed with fierce flames as she struck, destroying the machine’s propulsors and limbs.

"OUR SOULS ARE NOT YOUR RESOURCES—THEY ARE THE PRECIOUS MEMORIES OF OUR BELOVED OWNERS!" Bobby screamed, eyes burning with dream flames as his scissors sliced cleanly through the man’s body.

"NGAAAAHHH!"

The Egyptian general’s agonized cry echoed as his body split apart, blood and machine fragments spraying everywhere in a massive explosion.

BOOOM!

RUMBLE!

The entire Pyramid shuddered violently but barely held together, still floating in the skies.

"Well done," Maria said with a nod. "Now, the rest of you—stabilize this damn floating thing. It’s mine now."

The surviving soldiers and workers scrambled to obey, those still alive bound by her phantasmal chains, while the dead were forced to serve regardless.

The Pyramid steadied itself and, at Maria’s command, began speeding toward the second pyramid.

"Maria, just what is this power?" Bobby asked. "I’ve never seen or felt anything like it before."

"Me neither..." Wrecker added.

"Never?" Maria replied. "It’s the same power you’ve always carried inside you. I simply sprinkled the power of Dreams to fully awaken it."

"The power of Dreams?" Christine wondered.

"What’s that?" Itsy asked.

"It comes from another world—the one Alma is from," Maria explained.

"Yes, it’s called Azure Star!" Alma nodded eagerly. "A world where human emotions turn into tangible energies that shape reality. Nightmares were born there too, embodying primal fear as ancient as the first living beings, which is why they’re so powerful... but Maria and her family helped us defeat them."

"How incredible... She truly has saved so many worlds," Christine murmured.

"I didn’t know about that one, but I’ve seen her in Zodiacron Prime, Necroterra, and Murim..." Bobby said.

"Yeah, I know you’ve been spying on me from very far away for a while," Maria sighed. "Anyway—what the hell is going on?!"
