Chapter 1828: Floor 19, Valhalla

-----

Maria snapped her fingers, and the void vanished.

The two factions glared at each other with raw hatred but didn’t dare move.

She and her family were far too intimidating.

"Tell me," Maria said. "Do you know anything about Odin or Frigga?"

The Vikings exchanged confused glances, some scratching their heads. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

No one seemed to recognize the names.

"Were they renegades then?" Maria wondered aloud. "It’s strange... Maybe they grew strong by climbing the tower rather than here. But strong enough to defeat the titan and dragon gods of Yggdrasil? It’s... unlikely. Still, who am I to question it? I wasn’t there..."

As she pondered, an old man stepped forward from the group.

"I... know of someone," he said. "My friend always told me his grandfather spoke of an ancient Tyrant named Odin."

"Tell me more," Maria said, stepping closer.

Maria quickly befriended the man. They walked together to his village. The war dissolved; everyone agreed to fight another day. Maria had completely drained their appetite for slaughter.

The warrior guided her while explaining the reason for the battle.

It was a brutal ceremony in Valhalla to honor their ancient gods, and among those gods was one named Odin.

"What? Odin was...?"

Maria grew even more confused. They reached the village, and the Viking introduced her to his friend.

The friend then led her to his grandfather.

An old man sat fishing by the river, glancing back at her with curiosity.

"What do you want?" he grumbled.

Maria explained why she had come and where she was from.

Slowly, as the old man pulled in a few fish, his eyes widened.

"Y-You come from the land of legends... Yggdrasil? So it exists! Odin... went there?"

"Land of Legends?"

"Come... Let me explain what it is."

Maria followed him home. The old man grilled the fresh fish while preparing rabbit stew from rabbits his grandson had caught.

"Odin and Frigga were ancient warriors, the strongest in our tribe... roughly ten thousand years ago," he said. "Their legends still linger, though the young ones don’t care. They reached that level by winning over a hundred war games. It is said they ascended into powerful gods by absorbing the Fighting Spirit of thousands of warriors—a rite of Ascension the young try to imitate now, but no true War God born that way has appeared in ages."

"War Gods..." Maria murmured. "So they were already gods here... figures of legend. I guess that makes sense."

"To think they’re still alive and even reached the Land of Legends..." The old man sighed. "Yggdrasil is rumored to be the realm of legends and gods. They set off through the tower to reach it and promised to return and bring everyone back... but they never did. Most assumed they died. To think they reached it and even slew its gods... most impressive. I don’t know what to feel, honestly... No, I do know. I am proud."

Maria stayed silent; she couldn’t bring herself to resent the old man. "I’m going to kill Odin and his family."

"...Is that so," the old man sighed. "Do whatever you must. Whoever was related to him is long dead... Hoho, if he’s truly as evil as you say... then perhaps power corrupted him. An old monster like him shouldn’t live so long. If he has committed atrocities, then perhaps you’ll be honoring our family by taking him down."

"...Thank you," Maria sighed, offering a faint smile.

"Come on, now that you’re here, at least share a meal with us."

The old man smiled and handed her a bowl of rabbit stew. It contained small potatoes and tiny carrots, but even on its own, it tasted delicious.

As she ate, Maria noticed how malnourished many villagers looked.

Crops were hard to grow here, and the bitter cold made survival brutal.

Only the hardiest warriors endured.

"Thank you for the meal. It was good. Please take this as a gift."

Maria left the old man with a box full of vegetables and fruits that would never spoil as long as they remained inside.

Then, with Emeraldine and Root’s help, she created vast fields using Verdelore’s magic crops. She placed formations to make them grow strong and healthy, and others to prevent theft.

She also scattered protective barriers around villages to shield them from wild monsters.

In time, she covered several kilometers with farms and orchards. People couldn’t steal, but if they asked politely, the spirits within would share.

Eventually, they could plant their own fields too.

This was the gift she left them before moving on.

She realized just how humble Odin’s origins had been—how he had endured endless hardships as a warrior through countless battles before becoming what he was now.

"Huh, I hate to admit it, but we aren’t so different in that regard... We both earned our power through immense effort and suffering."

The thought frustrated Maria, filling her with deep anger.

Still, she sighed, gazed at the blue sky one last time, and teleported away.

Passing through dimensional membranes, she arrived at Floor 18.

A vast dungeon.

"Alright, here we are," Ferleen said. "This is Labyrinthos, a massive dungeon spanning many floors—from 18 all the way down to 2. And Floor 1 is your destination, right? Earth."

"It’s finally within reach," Maria sighed, a small tear escaping. "What a journey this has been... Let’s go."

Maria and her family nodded, stepping forward to face one final challenge.

They battled monsters, navigated endless labyrinths and dungeons.

They sometimes lost their way but quickly regrouped and pressed on.

Floor 18, then 17, 16, 15, 14, 13...

Each floor carried its own theme, unique monsters, and occasional safe zones where Players gathered to eat and rest.

Maria’s army swelled as she turned every defeated monster into her Undead.

Floor 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4...

The deeper they descended, the easier it became.

Floor 3.

"Almost there..."

Floor 2.

"Come on..."

Maria and her family moved through the corridors.

And finally, after two days.

In the morning of the next day.

They pushed open the gates and stepped through.

Reaching Floor 1.

The first sight was a huge, awe-inspiring urban city.

Maria smiled, staring at the world before her in wonder.

Even after the Tower’s arrival, 99.9% of the population remained ordinary humans.

There were no dream powers here.

No strange name.

This was Floor 1—an "ordinary world" with nothing special about it.

Earth.

The place Maria had come from.

"Finally... I’M FINALLY BACK!"

Maria screamed, tears streaming as she collapsed to the ground.

People glanced at her with strange looks.

Her family celebrated with her, smiling, laughing, hugging her tightly.

What a journey.

"Mother, sister... I’ll find you, no matter what."
