Reborn As A Ghost: Time To Build My Undead Army!-Chapter 1831: The New Holy Saintess Of Humanity
-----
As the two sisters laughed and enjoyed their time together, Maria’s family had already found her. They hovered outside the hospital, watching her through their Auras.
"She’s so happy..." Emeraldine smiled softly. "I don’t think we should interrupt this moment. It’s very personal."
"W-Woah... Maria became even prettier..." Lucifer gasped. "She’s so small too! I want to grab her..."
"So this is her first life’s true appearance..." Jonathan smiled warmly. "No matter the life, you’re always so beautiful, Maria."
"Sis..." Arthur beamed with pure happiness. "I’m glad you could find your family too..."
"Woah, her powers increased a lot! What is this bright aura around her?!" Partner asked. "It feels like it would burn my skin!"
"She evolved..." Nia said quietly.
"Mama...! She looks a lot like Francis—Wait, that’s her name!" Nyx gasped.
"For now I would suggest we just watch..." Nia said. "Let’s visit her after she has a bit more time with her sister and maybe her mother... It would be too surprising for her family."
"Yeah, I agree..." Emeraldine nodded. "Let’s watch."
Maria naturally sensed their presences high above in the sky, but she quickly realized they were waiting patiently, giving her this private moment with her family before appearing.
She felt deeply grateful they would go so far for her sake. She truly was lucky.
After healing as many people as she could in the hospital and changing into the clothes her sister had brought—a pair of jeans, a white shirt, black sport shoes, and a black jacket—she stepped outside.
The world felt utterly different now that she experienced it through her real body. She could see flows of energy everywhere, intents and emotions surging from people in all sorts of vivid shapes and forms.
It was surprising and almost overwhelming in its beauty.
But that wasn’t all.
"We came running here after hearing the news!"
"Are you the patient that woke up?!"
"She matches the videos and photos!"
"It’s her! It’s her!"
Reporters from news outlets swarmed the sisters in droves.
"Hey, what the hell! Stop it!" Laura groaned angrily.
"Wait, isn’t she the B-Rank Hunter Laura?!" one reporter asked.
"Is she your sister, Laura?" another pressed.
"She’s my sister, yeah! Her name’s Fran! Now get the hell out of here!" Laura threatened, her fists suddenly glowing with bright light as lightning crackled around them.
"Lightning Powers?" Maria wondered, sensing how deeply her sister’s blessings were tied to this element.
"But it is reported she healed hundreds of people with her tears!"
"It is said she might be the greatest healer born to this day in America!"
"We can’t just let you have her all for yourself!"
"HAH?! She’s my sister, you jerks!" Laura was about to lunge at them, but Maria—or rather, Fran—stopped her.
"That’s enough, Laura. Don’t go too far with them—they’re too weak. What if you kill someone?" Maria sighed. "I am willing to answer a few questions."
To her sister’s surprise, Maria actually welcomed the attention.
The reporters smiled eagerly and asked her several questions. Maria answered calmly with an angelic, kind demeanor.
"I just woke up, but now that I have these powers, I want to do everything I can to help the people of this world," she said. "If I can heal you, come to me and I will help you. Diseases, lost limbs, cancer—anything. I am sure I can heal it. For free, no charge. I will do my best to help everyone, because I believe that we can make this world better by starting with our own actions."
Her words were gentle, innocent, and filled with genuine hope. They touched everyone’s hearts.
Many reporters began to cry as Maria’s message broadcast live across every TV channel, internet forum, page, and streaming service.
Social media exploded. Fran’s popularity skyrocketed within minutes.
"I have cancer...! Please help me!"
"I lost my arm..."
"I have a cold...! Can you help me?"
"Can you heal me from my allergy to peanuts?"
Crowds surged toward Maria. She simply nodded like a serene saintess, her golden aura washing over them and healing as they approached.
In that short time, hundreds were restored, and more kept arriving as word spread. The entire city mobilized.
"Fran, these are way too many people!" Laura complained.
"I know... Hm, maybe this’ll work?" Maria snapped her fingers.
FLAAASH!
A shockwave of immensely powerful healing light rippled outward across New Jersey.
Everyone in need was healed instantly.
The commotion only grew, spreading across the globe.
Eventually the two sisters escaped to a random cafeteria for some good food.
Maria had eaten recently in her other form, but her true body hadn’t tasted anything in twenty years. She felt ravenous.
"Remember this place? This is where we used to come together," Laura said.
"Yeah..." Maria replied, sipping coffee. "I remember the cheesecake... wow, it’s the same as before! Twenty years later..."
"You loved that one..." Laura nodded. "Mom always... got it for you."
"Hm..." Maria studied her sister. "Okay, what’s wrong with Mom? Tell me."
"..." Laura fell silent. "It’s not something we can talk about out loud... Let’s wait until we’re back home."
"...?"
Maria felt confused but stayed patient.
Once they finished eating, they decided to walk home.
However.
"Hello, ladies."
A man with long blonde hair, fiery red eyes, and a tall, slender build greeted them.
He was strikingly handsome, dressed in a tight white shirt and black pants.
He winked at Maria.
"Huh? Who the hell is this guy?" Maria asked.
"Hahah, you probably don’t know about me... I am the Guild Master of the Olympus guild!" the young man said. "Joseph... or well, the branch here! Your sister works for me."
"..." Laura sighed. "Hello, Joseph. Couldn’t you give us some time alone at least? My sister just woke up."
"Oh yeah, I totally get it," the suspicious man nodded. "I just wanted her to join the guild! Can’t she? I mean, she’s your sister, so it should be a no-brainer, right? What do you think, Fran? I am willing to give you a high position, a great salary, and more—just sign this paper."
"Huh?" Maria took the paper and scanned it. It was loaded with restrictions. "This contract sucks! Do you want me to become your slave or something? Also, is it imbued with a curse? Are you trying to trap me in some scheme? Sister, are you really getting along with scammers?"
"I-I..." Laura muttered. "Olympus is not a scammer guild! They’re genuine..."
Her sister, usually so brave and strong, seemed far more passive in front of this man.
Maria’s eyes glowed as realization hit.
Those "blessings" weren’t just granting her power.
They were part of the contract, imposing heavy restrictions.
"W-What did you say?!" Joseph grew angry. "Everyone and their mother wants to join our guild!"
"I’m sorry, but I don’t really know you. I’m going back home with my sister," Maria said.
"At least consider it? Keep the paper?" Joseph pressed. "Hey, Laura! Convince her!"
"B-But Joseph, she doesn’t want to! Please... please leave her alone," Laura begged.
"Tch! You think I’m letting her go and losing this massive opportunity?! I can’t let other guilds grab her!" Joseph snarled. "Stop her—help me force her to sign the contract!"
"W-What?! But Joseph!" Laura protested.
"You want me to punish you?" Joseph asked coldly.
"No but...! She’s my sister! I can’t let you!" Laura cried.
"Are you defying me?" Joseph asked, his face twisting.
Laura fell silent.
"Okay, this is too weird."
Maria snatched the contract and conjured [Phantasmal Flames] in its reversed form—[Holy Flames]—reducing the paper to ashes in an instant.
"W-Wha...?!" Joseph gasped. "You have fire powers too! How many skills did you gain?"
"I have over a hundred," Maria said, her calm expression now edged with anger. "Joseph, right? This is my last warning. Get lost."
"Hah?" Joseph stepped closer with a smirk, towering over her. "You’re really cute... I don’t want to hurt such a pretty face, you know? We can do this the easy way... or the hard way."
"Joseph!" Laura tried to intervene.
"If you’re not helping, don’t get in my way, Laura!" Joseph roared. His hand shoved her aside with a shockwave of divine power, sending her crashing to the ground.
"Aaagh!" Laura cried out as the pavement cracked beneath her.
"Tch... see what happens to those that defy me?" Joseph sneered. "And I was being nice—Eh?"
His eyes widened.
Maria’s face had changed. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
A red eye opened on her forehead.
"W-Wha... What?"
Her eyes turned deep crimson, and her black hair began shifting to white...
"You... you dare hit my sister... in front of me?"
"W-Wait...! Can you transform?! I hit the jackpot! With you we can—"

"UNGHH?!"
Joseph screamed in agony as Maria’s fists blurred at lightning speed, pummeling his entire body in a single devastating instant.
BOOOM!
