Chapter 1870: Meeting The Divine Spirit Tree

-----

Maria, Emeraldine, and Oberon traveled through the skies, drawing closer and closer to the tree. The nearer they came, the more spiritual energy and mana condensed in the air, creating a very heavy atmosphere where flying became extremely difficult.

"It’s damn heavy in here..." Maria looked around. "This atmosphere is more oppressive than any world we’ve visited before! Hahah... even now, this world is truly among the strongest."

"Yes, but..." Emeraldine glanced at her son. "Oberon, can you clear a path for your two mamas?"

"Hm!" Oberon seemed to understand somehow. He summoned his Dream Weapon—his Divine Spirit Druid Wood Staff—and unleashed his power completely. "Nuhh!"

FLUOSH!

In a mere split second, the path ahead, thick with condensed spirit energy, rapidly dispersed. Hundreds of spirits were born from it and flew away in every direction.

"A-Amazing!" Maria was shocked. "Not even we could absorb all this energy because it was so heavy, but the boy cleared a path instantly!"

"Indeed!" Emeraldine kissed the top of her son’s head. "Let’s go then!"

The three of them moved along the path little Oberon had opened, reaching deeper and deeper into the great forest.

Eventually they were detected. Dozens of fairies began to emerge from the tree and rushed downward.

They looked almost like elves but had beautiful, majestic butterfly wings. All of them were warriors, clad in golden armor and wielding weapons infused with spirit magic. Each was also surrounded by dozens of spirit companions.

"Halt right there, intruders!"

"Who are you?!"

"How were you able to pierce through the Great Divine Spirit Tree’s barrier?!"

"Wait, that was a barrier?" Emeraldine asked.

"Ah, sorry about that. Our son dismantled it with his little baby hands," Maria apologized.

"...?!"

"Son?"

"What?"

The many fairy knights glanced at the small child Emeraldine was carrying—an adorable, red-eyed fairy boy holding a mystical-looking divine staff.

"Aeeh!"

As they looked upon the child and then at the mother, their eyes widened.

Just now, they had seen something wondrous.

FLAAASH!

It was like a gigantic tree of holy light and spiritual essence growing into the skies, stretching endlessly. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"T-That presence...!"

"And the boy has something even greater...?"

"What is the meaning of this...!"

"Hahah... we had no idea we were being visited by a Saintess and a Spirit God! Please come in! We apologize for our rude behavior...!"

The fourth soldier, seemingly a general, stepped forward, bowed deeply to Emeraldine and Oberon, and apologized—completely ignoring Maria’s existence.

"Saintess... that’s okay, but Spirit God?!" Emeraldine asked, looking at her son.

"Y-Yes?" the general replied. "The child... he is a young Spirit God, right?"

"I mean, is he?! I have no idea!" Emeraldine said.

"Me neither," Maria added. "By the way, I exist too. Look."

Maria revealed her divine light of pure life, and the fairies were startled.

"A-A Goddess of Life!"

"What?"

"We had no idea we were having such distinguished guests today!"

"Please forgive us! If it can appease your anger, I am willing to offer my life if you can spare my soldiers...!" the general offered.

"Woah, woah, calm down," Maria said. "We are not killing anybody. Emeraldine wanted to come here because she was made into a Saintess of Yggdrasil some time ago. She was told back then by the Fairy Queen, I think, to come visit her."

"T-The Fairy Queen!"

"So it was all an invitation..."

"Please, come in!"

The soldiers, still nervous, invited Maria, Emeraldine, and their child Oberon inside the large city surrounding the spirit tree.

The city was inhabited only by forest races: elves, fairies, gnomes, squirrel-kin, dryads, treants, and more.

Once they descended, they wandered around while being guided by the knights, admiring the beautiful city.

"Wow, it’s sure a big place...!" Emeraldine said. "So many people like me too...!"

"Yeah, and races I’ve never seen before..." Maria nodded. "Hm, perhaps just moving out of Midgard would have been a good choice."

"We were unlucky enough to be born there..." Emeraldine sighed. "And even though I love this place, Midgard is still the home we created together. I can’t abandon it."

"True," Maria said.

As they reached a large gate leading to the interior of the tree itself—as if it were a castle—they walked forward and felt a strong spiritual aura envelop them.

The spiritual aura sparkled with countless lights and colors, taking the shape of a person’s heart—or rather, their very emotions and words conveyed through it.

"This spiritual aura of spirit essence and mana is... intent... and consciousness..." Maria said, shocked. "So Ki and cultivation aren’t required to develop it, huh?"

This powerful "Spiritual Intent," as Maria decided to call it, possessed an incredible amount of pure raw magical power infused within it.

Through it, someone—the one connected to this aura—spoke directly to their hearts.

It was the gentle voice of a young man.

"Welcome to the Great Divine Spirit Tree, my dear guests..."

And then another voice intermingled with it. A second person spoke to their hearts.

"The Saintess is finally here... and she brings along a Goddess of Life and a newborn Spirit God. How wonderful. Come in please. Don’t be shy."

Maria, Emeraldine, and Oberon stepped forward, entering the tree.

The gates behind them immediately closed, and they found themselves inside a great, majestic hall within the tree.

There, aside from a beautiful inner forest full of spirits and spirit beasts, stood a throne made of gold and tree branches, surrounded by flowers and ripening fruit.

Sitting above the throne was a beautiful woman with cascading blonde hair, glowing pink eyes, and a huge pair of golden, green, and pink fairy wings.

She wore a simple semi-transparent white dress, and a crown of golden branches and flowers rested on her head.

"Welcome. Ah, right, dear, why don’t you materialize? These guests cannot properly visualize you."

FLUOSH!

In that moment, the ground trembled beside her. Branches, roots, leaves, and flowers converged into the form of a human.

Indeed, he had soft clear brown skin, long blonde hair, glowing emerald eyes, a muscular yet majestic physique, and a handsome, youthful face.

Although Maria noticed that from the legs down he was still attached to roots and branches, from the waist up he had the body of a man, his groin barely covered by a few leaves.

"Welcome, my dear guests."

He stood by the fairy’s side, gently placing his hand on her shoulder as she placed her hand over his, caressing it.

"W-Woah..." Emeraldine gazed at them both, lost in the endless sea of spiritual essence surging from them.

"You must be... the Fairy Queen?" Maria asked.

"That’s right," the fairy nodded. "I am the Fairy Queen, and this here is the Great Divine Spirit Tree."

"I knew it. So the tree took a human form?" Maria wondered. "Huh, that’s quite amazing."

"It took me thousands of years to master this technique," the tree spoke. "But my dear wife was there to support me no matter what. Despite me being a child of Yggdrasil and her a descendant of the Ancient Fairy King Oberon, we’ve fallen in love and been together for the last five hundred thousand years."

"...That’s a lot of time," Emeraldine said, admiring their beauty.
