Chapter 647: Chapter 333 Unyielding_1

Lian Shouyi and Lady He, along with Erlang and Sanlang, wanted to move chests and trunks to the west room, but Lian Shouren and Lian Jizu naturally would not allow it. But the father and son were no match for Lian Shouyi and his crew; as soon as they tried to stop them, they got shoved aside.

"Old Second, you damned bastard. Do you even recognize me as your elder brother or not?" Lian Shouren stumbled from being pushed by Lian Shouyi, angrily pointing at him and saying, "Don’t you have any consideration left today?"

"Elder brother, look at what you’re saying, how estranged." Lian Shouyi was still all smiles and nonchalance, "When it comes to dividing the family property, shouldn’t it be done clearly and straightforwardly? We divide the family assets but after that, we’re still brothers just the same, no doubt about that."

Lian Shouren was so infuriated by Lian Shouyi’s shamelessness that he nearly fell over backward, but given Lian Shouyi’s numerous male family members and their brute force, no one was a match for them. Lian Shouren could only seek help from others.

"Old Three, Old Fourth, are you two just going to stand there and watch, looking like that? Old Second is about to turn into a robber, won’t you come over and stop them?" Lian Shouren shouted to Lian Shouxin and Lian Shouli.

Usually showing none of the responsibility inherent to an eldest brother, he now pulled rank to command his two younger brothers.

"Old Three, Old Fourth, this is a matter between my elder brother’s family and mine; you should not intervene. Otherwise, don’t blame me for disregarding our fraternal bond and turning against you," Lian Shouyi also turned around to shout at Lian Shouxin and Lian Shouli.

Lian Shouli sat on the edge of the kang with his head down, as if he hadn’t heard what his two brothers said.

"Let’s talk this over properly, Dad and Mom are here too." Lian Shouxin stood up but didn’t step forward to stop anyone, instead saying loudly.

"Dad, Mom." Seeing that neither brother would do his bidding, Lian Shouren hurried over to Old Master Lian and Lady Zhou. "Look at what Old Second is doing, he’s starting to rob his own family... What possessions could I possibly have? Didn’t Mom go through my stuff already last time? If there’s anything left, it’s just a couple of items of clothing belonging to Jizu and his wife. This uncle leading his nephews to rifle through his sister-in-law’s chest, if word of this gets out, where will the Old Lian family put its face!"

"Dad, Mom. Please say something. Old Second is being rebellious and unfilial!"

"Eldest uncle, you’re a scholar and know a lot. You’re aware of having no face to show? When you and your men went through my chest and stole my dowry, how did you have the face then? Now you remember face? If there was any left in the Old Lian family, you already lost it all; it’s not our turn to shed it," Zhao Xiue spoke up before Old Master Lian and Lady Zhou could say anything.

Lian Shouren was left pale and flushed with anger at Zhao Xiue’s retort, but at that moment he couldn’t afford to quarrel with her, instead bending forward, standing below the kang, begging Old Master Lian and Lady Zhou to come down and stop Lian Shouyi.

"Dad, we’ve never had such conduct in our family; we can’t let Old Second do this. Does he still see me as his elder brother? Today, if he overturns that chest, I won’t be able to wear this scholar’s hat in peace!"

"Everyone get back here, has the world turned upside down?" Old Master Lian shouted.

"I raised you all with my blood and sweat, and now you’ve all lost your conscience," Lady Zhou scolded.

They both scolded, but neither moved from their seat on the kang.

Of course, Lian Shouyi wouldn’t stop because of that; his entire household swarmed out of the east room and poured into the west room. Lian Jizu, trying to block their way, ended up tangled with Erlang and Sanlang and also followed into the west room. Lian Shouren and Lady Gu, realizing things were going south, hurried over as well.

Lady Chiang followed Lady Gu, quickly walking to the doorway, and seeing that Lady Gu intended to step forward without paying attention to her, she stopped, turned back, picked up Niuniu from the kang, and then went to sit by Lady Zhou, gently comforting the frightened Niuniu while whispering to Lady Zhou.

Zhao Xiue got down from the kang at that point, put on her shoes, and walked outside.

Lady Chiang placed Niuniu next to Lady Zhou, stood up, and blocked Zhou Xiue’s way.

"Elder sister-in-law, what do you think you’re doing?" Zhao Xiue asked, raising her eyebrows.

"Erlang’s wife, what do you think you’re doing?" Lady Chiang retorted to Zhao Xiue.

"Whatever I want to do is my business; what’s it to you?" Zhao Xiue scoffed, reaching out to push Lady Chiang aside.

But Lady Chiang grabbed Zhao Xiue’s hand firmly.

"Erlang’s wife, with you being pregnant, don’t wander around aimlessly. Let’s just stay here with our mother-in-law; it’ll save you from getting into trouble," Lady Chiang said.

Zhao Xiue struggled hard a few times but couldn’t shake off Lady Chiang, so she lifted her foot to kick. Lady Chiang got hit but her grip secretly tightened, her fingernails almost digging into the flesh of Zhao Xiue’s wrist.
