Reborn as a Transcendent-Chapter 752Book 3: : I’m Not a Charlatan!
Lili lightly bit her cherry-red lower lip, her mind racing as she considered how she might persuade Yae-hime.
That little girl was indeed gravely injured and posed no threat to them for the time being. But if her injuries were to recover… The more Lili thought about it, the heavier the worry weighing on her heart became.
Just then, a clear and pleasant voice rang out from not far away. Along with it came the sound of hurried footsteps splashing through shallow water.
“Princess, Lady Lili!”
The two of them looked over, only to see Angelica, her clothes and hair somewhat disheveled, running toward them.
“Slow down, the ground is slippery,” Yae-hime reminded her.
The uninhabited island had been thoroughly washed by the earlier waves, leaving pools of water everywhere. A single misstep or slip would surely result in a painful fall.
However, Angelica, running under the moonlight, moved steadily the entire way. It was clear that she was quite accustomed to this kind of environment.
“Princess, Lady Lili, you were incredible!” She finally reached them, and before she had even fully steadied herself, she spoke excitedly. To drive off such a terrifying sea beast in such a short time, if she had not witnessed it with her own eyes, she would never have believed it.
At this very moment, Angelica’s admiration and reverence for Yae-hime and Lili surged like an unending river.
“It had merely wandered into the nearshore while confused. Once it was knocked awake, it naturally fled,” Yae-hime said with a smile. She then explained the reason the fish-serpent sea beast had intruded into the shallow waters.
“That’s really astonishing…” Angelica said as she looked at the little girl lying on the ground, whose beauty was almost excessive. “She’s way too amazing. She actually made that sea beast suffer so badly!”
“She is indeed impressive,” Lili nodded. She still had not figured out how to persuade Yae-hime. ‘Alicia said not to interfere excessively with the Child of Destiny, but…’ Dangerous things truly could not be ignored.
Looking at the little girl’s pained expression, Lili felt deeply conflicted.
“Angelica, do you have a way to contact the dock and have them send boats over?” Yae-hime asked, turning to her.
The crisis had already been resolved, and there was no point in staying here any longer. Moreover, she wanted to return as soon as possible to conduct some research… no, to give the little girl some basic treatment.
“Little Hime, are you really going to take her back?” Lili asked anxiously.
“Yes. Don’t worry. My intuition is very accurate. She’s harmless.” Seeing the concern in Lili’s heart, Yae-hime reassured her.
At the side, Angelica’s expression looked somewhat unnatural. To her, this scene felt eerily similar to when she had rescued the apostle before. What happened afterward had left her with a deep psychological shadow.
Now that Yae-hime intended to bring back someone of unknown origin, would it also… At this thought, Angelica forcefully shook her head. ‘Princess must have absolute confidence to do this. It’s completely different from me!’
She quickly realized the vast gap between herself and Princess. Yae-hime dared to make such decisions because she had the strength to back them up. She herself lacked that ability.
If she had possessed the power to effortlessly resolve the plague in the village back then, like Yae-hime had, then none of those problems would have been problems at all. Unfortunately, she did not have such strength. That was the difference.
‘Only by possessing great power can one live freely.’ Clenching her fist lightly, Angelica finally came to an understanding. At this moment, she had grown a little more than before.
“Angelica?” Seeing that she had not replied, Yae-hime waved a hand in front of her.
“Uwah!” Angelica snapped back to her senses and jumped in fright.
“What were you thinking about so deeply?” Yae-hime asked with a smile.
“N-nothing! Oh, right. I can blow a specially made horn to send a signal to the dock!” In her fluster, Angelica fumbled in her pocket and pulled out a small black horn.
“Mhm. It’d be best if they could send two or three ships over,” Yae-hime said.
Although the crisis had been resolved, five villagers were still unaccounted for. The matter had yet to truly come to an end.
In addition, they also needed to take a boat back.
Walking atop the waves was convenient enough, but bringing people along made it far less effortless. Carrying extra weight still affected them, and hauling two people back like that would seriously hurt their image. Especially after such a grand, earthshaking battle earlier.
Yae-hime felt that this kind of contrast was not very conducive to maintaining an air of mystery. However, this was clearly overthinking it on her part. At this very moment, the dock was like a frenzied celebration, lively and feverish. After all, they had just witnessed an epic battle.
Their divine envoy had fought on behalf of the Goddess of Light, unleashing supreme divine power to drive the sea beast back out of the nearshore waters, once again restoring clear skies and calm seas to Aoma Village.
What overwhelming divine grace this was.
People at the bottom were very pragmatic. Whoever manifested miracles was the one they devoted themselves to.
After Yae-hime had turned the tide twice, the standing of the Goddess of Light in their hearts had undoubtedly skyrocketed.
Just then, a series of horn blasts rose from the distance, their long, low calls rolling across the night and cutting through the air, gradually pressing down the crowd’s surging excitement.
“Stop!” an elderly villager with considerable authority raised both hands and shouted.
In the next moment, the villagers’ roaring voices gradually subsided until everything fell completely silent. At that point, the horn sounded again, echoing clearly.
“Three long, two short. That’s a signal of good news! Angelica and the others are safe!” the elderly villager exclaimed excitedly.
“That’s wonderful!”
“Let’s head out to sea and welcome them back at once!”
“Set out!”
In the blink of an eye, the villagers sprang into action.
“Should we go over as well?” Layna asked.
“Brother.” Aurora looked toward her older brother.
“We’d better not go and add to the chaos,” Fiat said seriously, folding his arms across his chest.
“That’s true. We wouldn’t really be able to help anyway,” Layna nodded.
Aurora thought it over and agreed, dispelling the idea of going out to sea. She obediently stayed at the dock, waiting for Yae-hime to return in triumph.
“Princess, people from the dock will be sailing over soon,” Angelica said after faintly spotting distant lights.
“Mm, thank you for your hard work,” Yae-hime said as she gently patted her head.
Beside her, Lili wore an envious expression.
After waiting for more than ten minutes, three fishing boats finally docked, and many villagers disembarked. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
“Lord Angel!” someone shouted the moment they came ashore. Immediately afterward, the words resounded throughout the uninhabited island.
Behind the mask, the corner of Yae-hime’s eye twitched slightly. How could she fail to see the fanaticism in their eyes, or fail to hear the reverence in their shouts?
“Charlatan,” Lili said softly, glancing over.
“I’m not!” Yae-hime shot her a glare.
She then instructed Angelica to handle the matters that followed. She really did not want to have any direct contact with these villagers.
“All right, Prin… Lord Angel,” Angelica said, hurriedly correcting herself halfway through.
“Go on,” Yae-hime said with a light wave of her hand.
“Yes,” Angelica responded and quickly stepped forward to stop the villagers.
The top priority was to locate the five villagers who were still missing. Soon, the three boats set out once more.
After spending fifty minutes, the villagers found those five people among nearby reefs. Each of them had suffered injuries of varying severity, but fortunately, none were life-threatening. With Yae-hime’s treatment, they were immediately lively again.
At last, the matter could be considered settled. However, just as the group returned to the dock, the headache Yae-hime had anticipated indeed occurred.
“Welcome, Lord Angel!” On the dock, several hundred villagers knelt, their eyes blazing with fervor, their expressions devout, their voices rising in perfect unison.
