Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 102: Ch : The Decision of a Boss Fight
Thief’s words left a bitter taste in Lilianna’s mouth. She wanted to help the kid who had asked her for help.
But he was also right. She did not know any way to help the kid that would actually turn out to be beneficial for him or help him live in the long run. Nor could she take responsibility for the kid’s safety on her own.
Her agitation showed clearly on her face, but she just nodded at the man in front of her, forcing herself to be polite to him. Thankfully, she had more people to take over for her and talk to Thief.
"We understand your circumstances. However, I want you to ask yourself this question-is what you are doing truly something that is useful to these kids, or are you just doing this to satisfy your own needs?"
Emperor asked this question.
Out of everyone, he was the only one who had seen the impact of this decision in the future, and he knew these empowered kids were not the all-powerful cure humanity needed. Still, it would lower the casualties, so he killed his morals and looked the other way.
"Are you asking me to question my morals? If I do that, then I won’t be able to even breathe in today’s times. Anyway, that is not something you should be worried about."
Thief almost sounded bitter, but he quickly caught himself and leveled the party in front of him with an easy smile that stretched across his face.
"We should get going now."
Andrew told his side, not wanting the situation to escalate into something they wouldn’t be able to control.
This was enemy territory, and no matter how strong they were, fighting among fellow humans would not resolve everything.
The mood was not happy when they reached home. Lilianna immediately headed toward her room to calm her head down, and she forbade anyone from following her.
"I should-"
Clara took one step toward her room, only to be stopped by Andrew.
"Give Lilianna some time to come to terms with what is happening. She is stronger than you think, and she won’t let something like this hold her back."
Andrew assured Clara, who only looked even more worried. Still, she decided to follow Andrew’s leadership and gave Lilianna some much-needed space.
The shock they all had received at the news presented by The Peace Organization was something that even she felt was hard to swallow. So she could imagine how someone like Lilianna felt.
’I hope she is fine. I don’t want her to feel depressed and make any stupid decisions. But then again, as long as we have Andrew here, I don’t feel like anything is going to happen anyway.’

"Why was this meeting called? Aren’t the games going just fine? The humans are acting like they should, and the system is well-fed. Ugh, is it being called just to frustrate us all?"
The half-dragon asked as he slammed his fist on the table. Ever since the overlooker for their species had messed up, the others had taken it upon themselves to mock them with their looks.
So the half-dragons had decided to compensate in the only way they knew-to train harder and get stronger.
Next time, there won’t be such a humiliating thing happening.
"Hmm, I don’t know why we were called. After all, the one who called for this meeting has yet to say something."
The goddess representing her people turned to look at the puppet sitting opposite to her. As the current manager of the games, the puppet had a lot more authority compared to everyone else. So it made everyone curious to know why they had been called by her.
Once everyone was seated, the puppet spoke up.
"The humans have started to cheat in this game. The system was picking up weird readings from the logs, so I decided to check up on it...only to find that there are far more humans compared to before."
The puppet’s emotionless voice made it sound as if she was presenting a mission report and not a heartfelt concern.
"Tsk, is this truly a matter of concern? Doesn’t this just mean that the humans have entered a mating season and have started to multiply? That is a good thing for us, right? It would mean the system would get more food."
The wolf-eared individual spoke, waving his hand dismissively in the air. He and the others did not see what the big deal was.
Seeing this, the puppet spoke again, this time, her voice a little more urgent.
"That is the problem-these new humans do not feed the system. They are able to connect to the system, but the system only registers them as a single individual, thus negating any source of power consumption from this. It is a matter of concern for us."
Her words caused everyone to pause and look at each other.
"Are the humans...cloning themselves? Even if they do, the system should be able to stop them, right?"
The jellyfish-like creature asked, and the puppet shook her head.
"Usually, yes. But something feels weird this time. One of my people has disappeared beyond the veil, and there are too many of us unaccounted for. I have a feeling that it is the work of one of us thirteen."
The puppet spoke with confidence, causing the others around the table to become serious. Her words also caused the others to quieten down before the half-dragon smacked his fist on the table.
"You mean that one of us thirteen species in the alliance betrayed the system and is behind humanity’s tricks?"
He asked, causing the puppet to blink slowly.
"I won’t make accusations. All of us thirteen have never sat down to have a conversation or been in the same meeting, nor do we know the deal we made with the system. All we know is that we have a common goal-to serve the system. However, it is entirely possible that one of us betrayed this alliance."
The puppet’s words made the world go quiet, but everyone only thought one thing-had one of them truly betrayed the system? And if so, how?
