Reborn: The Return of the Villainous Mr. Liu-Chapter 1140: Earn your right
The wedding ceremony was followed by a grand banquet and feast which meant lots of things like lots of food, lots of chaos and lots of banter.
"No, no, no, where are you two going~?" Jing dragged the newly wedded couple back to the arena.
"What? We are done with our dinner."
He grinned. "I see somebody is very excited for their wedding niiiiiiiiiight~~"
"Uncle!" Jin’s glares were enough to express his blatant displeasure.
For God’s sake, everybody is here, including Alix’s parents!
Chyou wrapped her arm around his neck, her sheepish grin matching Jin’s. "Don’t worry. Look, your father and grandfather are hanging around with Alix’s parents. We can tease you all we want~"
Jin took a look and it seemed like the elders had indeed grouped together to have their version of fun, except for Liu Hai who was itching to join the young couples’ side and shedding dramatic tears of being forced to stay away from Alix.
He coughed. "Whatever. We are leaving."
"Only after you win a challenge~ Do you think we would allow you to indulge in your naughty time so easily?"
"Please don’t join the idiot gang, Chyou."
The twins dragged him down on the couch, squeezing him into the special twins sandwich. "Not so soon."
Jian sneered. "You all had made my life hell. Do you know how much precious time of my wedding night got wasted!? The night has never felt so short-"
"Complete that sentence Jian and you will find my hand print on your cheeks," Leina’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
"Can I have your lip print on my lips after that?" He grinned.
Nuo gasped. "There are children here!"
The said gang of children were completely focused and involved with Alix as if the rest of the world meant nothing to them. Alix, ever the patient woman, actively entertained their antics.
Nuo said, "You are so cool, sister-in-law! How can you be so patient with so many hyperactive kids playing around you?"
Ailun pouted. "I’m decent!"
The other kids followed along, nodding their heads.
Alix tipped her head to the side. "They are not that mischievous."
She was dumbfounded. "You feel nothing with so many...voices in your ears? Not even just a little bit?"
"Hawww is a certain mother already tired of her son?" Jian gasped dramatically.
She kicked him in the feet. "Shut up, Bro before I make you incur Dad’s wrath!"
"Hey don’t you always bring Dad in between our cute banter!"
Alix looked at the kids one by one who, though they had angelic faces, held devious and mischievous hearts. She shrugged.
"They are fine."
Jing burst into tears. He glanced over to the other side and shouted. "Bro, Mom! Alix is just like you two! She has already reached the enlightened Buddha stage!"
Jinhai blinked questioningly. "What?"
"The enlightened Buddha stage! You are calm and peaceful no matter the voices screaming into your ears! Nothing ever fazes you!"
Alix’s mouth twitched.
Is that even a thing?
Nuo’s son, Muyang, happily flailed his arms up as if agreeing to whatever chaos was going on. Meanwhile, Yina promptly pushed Ailun away and happily snatched the prize seat of Alix’s lap.
"Hey! I was sitting there!" Ailun complained.
Instead of Yina, a certain overprotective father lashed out. "Jun! How dare your son talk so disrespectfully to my dearest daughter!"
Baihu, who was tugging Nian’s shirt’s buttons, tilted his head questioningly, blissfully unaware of his father’s fuming anger - the anger that jolted Junxi from her peaceful sleep and made her burst into a wail.
Jun threw a deadly glare. "And she had just fallen asleep! How dare you make my daughter cry?"
"I-I’m sorry...But your son started first!"
Jin took his crying niece in his arms and gently rocked her between his arms. Junxi, whose face was flushed red with all the crying and tears, looked up at Jin with her bright twinkling eyes.
"Aaaaaaaa..." she happily cooed and buried her face in his chest.
Ai sniffled. "So beautiful. She stopped crying right away. Uncle Jin is her favorite."
The twins flashed a look of hurt. "What about us? We are her most favorite uncles!"
Jin handed her back to Ai and said, "Well, that was good some chatter time so we will-"
Nian pushed his shoulder back. "Take your leave? No way in hell. Not unless you earn your right hahaha!"
"What do you mean by earn?" His gaze darkened.
Shui brought a big glass bowl and placed it at the center of the table with an evil smile, which made Jin swallow a gulp.
"Um...what’s that?"
"The way you would earn your right? You see all these marbles?"
The entire bowl was filled with tons of colorful marbles.
"Marbles!" Ruwen’s eyes glittered. He was about to grab some for his entertainment when Guiying promptly pulled him back.
Shui said, "It’s a simple game. You two will have to find the heart shaped marbles from among these circle ones using these chopsticks and put them in another bowl. Whoever finds the most of the heart marbles is the winner and can ask your partner to do anything for you~"
Seeing Alix’s eyes shimmer with excitement, Jin wasn’t too pleased. "Why do you look like you have something in mind that I wouldn’t like to do?"
She shrugged.
"Woooooo," Jing whistled. "Hey, can I join in? I will win and loot my nephew!"
"No," Nuo shot him down.
"Harsh!"
Jin and Alix sat across from each other, the wooden chopsticks placed neatly in the center of the table. It was a test of precision and patience.
Jian said, "Okay, start placing your bets."
Nian grinned. "My little brother will win this in a jiffy."
Chyou touched her chin. "I have a feeling I should be on Alix’s side."
Lin plainly said as if stating a fact, "She will be the winner."
"Pastry aunt!" The children’s side was very clear as well.
Jin reached for his chopsticks, his fingers steady but his eyes watching Alix. She could see his usual calm demeanor was tempered with a flicker of competitiveness.
Alix raised an eyebrow, picking up her own chopsticks with ease. "Start?"
"Yup, get, set and go!" Shui gave the green signal.
Jin deftly searched for the treasure marbles in the bowl and picked up a few heart marbles, placing it into the bowl. It was difficult to identify and find the heart marbles from the regular ones, which he understood a moment later that Alix had already achieved the God level in this game.
Her movements were as smooth as butter as she picked up the heart marbles and stacked them close, widening her score against Jin’s.
"Yay, Alix is winning!" Chyou clapped happily.
Alix placed the last marble and said, "Done."
Jin’s count of marbles was...too embarrassing to say the least. Lin smiled, satisfied.
Jian was dumbfounded. "How are you doing this?"
Alix shrugged again. "I don’t know. This wasn’t any different than finding grammar mistakes from the hundreds and thousands of words in a novel."
Guiying nodded. "She had Godly speed when she worked on my novels."
"And which is why my bet was on Alix," Jun smiled.
Xing Bi guiltily coughed. "Sorry brother-in-law."
"Bro..." Jin flashed a look of betrayal.
"Editors are a different breed," he smirked. "Our concentration is honed to the next level. So what do you want him to do?"
