Chapter 1152: A bizarre offer

Shui locked her gaze and with a graceful spin, the ball rolled down the course and hit five pins out of ten.

Yes! I’m halfway there! I’m finally halfway there! Then soon, I will be in the spotlight as Hou Lin.

Shui exhaled a satisfied breath, feeling much lighter.

Alix and her hadn’t talked again after their last conversation. It was quite foggy to know where their friendship lied at the moment, but for a few days, Shui had been feeling a sense of equilibrium in her heart. She expressed what she had to and there was nothing more she could do so a hint of peace had begun to settle within her.

"Huh, that’s not bad."

She turned around and saw an elderly man stroking his chin with interest. Shui had seen him having coffee when she entered the arena and seemingly, he was still having his coffee even at this moment.

How many cups of coffee did he have?

She smiled. "Thank you."

"I admire your stubbornness to reach the leaderboard, especially when you are facing a tough opponent."

Shui placed the next ball back in the rack and walked towards him. "We remain stagnant if we don’t up our game. The taste of victory is more delicious when you have beaten the best out there. The game can get as tough as it wants, but I won’t give up."

The elderly man shone. "I love that attitude. I’m in the same boat as you, after all~"

She blinked, puzzled. "You are also bowling?"

"Oh no, dear. I’m well past the age to play these games. I meant your stubbornness to keep continuing. I’m trying to beat down a man’s will, same like how you are trying to beat him in his game," he smiled cheerfully.

Huh? Who is he talking about?

"Mr. Zhong?"

Lin walked into their conversation, tilting his head at the elderly man.

"There you are!" His gaze and smile brightened further. "We were just talking about you."

Shui was slightly taken aback by their familiarity for a moment.

Oh wait. Maybe he is one of his cafe customers?

But judging by the lack of any expression on Lin’s face, Shui was beginning to question her guess.

He should be happy if he is a customer, right?

"What are you doing here?"

"To continue our conversation from before!"

Lin blinked twice. "We have ended that conversation multiple times before. There is no continuation."

Mr. Zhong casually waved his hand. "Nah, it hasn’t ended, especially when you come to know what I have done~ You will be so happy to know that!"

"What have you done?"

He brightened. "I have bought this gaming plaza for you!"

Shui’s eyes widened and her jaw dropped.

Say what?

Lin stared. "I see."

"Are you happy? Are you happy? Do you feel like becoming my son now because clearly, I’m acting the part of a doting father!"

"No."

"Why not!" His face fell and then he glared. "Aren’t you being too mean? Look, this whole plaza belongs to you now. You can come here even in the dead of the night if you want to~"

"I don’t want to. The day is enough."

Lin was about to turn around and leave.

"Wait, you brat! How dare you not accept my sincerity? What’s the problem in becoming my son? Look, I bought the plaza for you. Oh, do you want me to buy some other stuff? Then you can tell me," he chirped.

"I don’t want you to buy anything."

"Then how will I make you my son if I don’t show my sincerity?" He raised a brow.

"That’s exactly the point. I don’t want you to."

"Why not!"

"You are not my father."

"Duh? That’s what I’m saying. I will become your father."

"I don’t need another father," he said expressionlessly.

"Well, the original one was a gone case and now you are getting a brand new one for free~ This brand new one has features you always wished that oldie had."

Shui was listening to their conversation with a blank state of mind. The words sure reached her ears which she could technically understand but not logically by any chance.

What son? What father? What buying?

She slowly parted her lips. "I’m sorry to ask but...what?"

"Hey, it’s your rival, Lin!" Mr. Zhong smiled. "We were talking just now. That gives me a good idea! If she can stubbornly compete with you despite knowing she would only lose the game, then why can I not do the same?"

"Firstly, I don’t want to be your son. Secondly, you are bleeding out money for no good reason."

"Pah," he waved his hand in dismissal again. "I have too much money in my hands. My part too and my dead brother’s part too. I have to spend it somewhere," he shrugged.

Dead brother? What is he...Wait a minute.

Lin glanced at Shui and said, "Miss. Han can ignore him."

"Miss. Han? Miss. Han?" Mr. Zhong tilted his head slightly. "Han. Han. Han Zhiyuan?"

Her eyes widened. "You know Dad?"

He smiled. "What do I not know is what you should ask. Or rather I should say I knew your great-grandfather all too well."

Lin said, "He is Zhong Sihan. Miss. Han can ignore him."

"That’s not how you introduce your father, brat."

Lin stared at him and glanced back at Shui again. "We met in prison. He was in for fraud and driving his brother to death."

"That’s also not how you introduce your father."

"You are not my father."

"I will be," he smiled. "I have too much time and money to spare. Oh, oh! If the plaza doesn’t suit you, then should I buy your cafe?"

Lin blinked. "I’m not selling."

He laughed heartily. "Your agreement hardly counts when you don’t have any money in your hands. The one having the more bank notes win~"

"You are threatening me now?"

He blinked twice. "I wouldn’t say I want to go to that level. Yet."
