Reborn: The Return of the Villainous Mr. Liu-Chapter 1151: Imminent threat
Shui cried. She didn’t know why. Whether it was the bottled up feelings from all this time or meeting Alix or seeing Jin in jail or something else - She had just wanted to let it out.
"Ughhh I hate you so much!"
Alix was left shaken for a moment with her sudden outburst, but she understood her fury all too well. On the contrary, her calm demeanor was beginning to unnerve her. She had expected a slap at the very least for Jin’s outrageous path to fall in love with her.
Yet here she was - poised, calm and understanding as always.
"I know you hate me. Thank you for telling me that. I really needed to hear that."
Somebody else who should be telling me this is in fucking jail. Finally, I saw some normalcy in someone, Alix thought.
But it hurt. Seeing Shui cry still hurt her.
Shui saw her slowly offering her a tissue with a complicated expression. It was clear that she wanted to do something but didn’t know what exactly. But it was clear she just didn’t want to sit still.
She gritted her teeth. "I hate the fact that I want to hate you from the bottom of my heart but you have made it so damn difficult for me!"
"...It’s pretty easy to hate me."
"It was until you were Zhan Yahui! I could have blamed you all I wanted, but now you have snatched even that tiny luxury from me!" Tears plopped down her cheeks.
"Your actions made Jin walk into a path from where he could never turn around. I thought the years in Paris would change something within him. I kept being hopeful but..."
She wiped her eyes and trembled, clenching the tissue in her hand. "He was gone just like that. I was beginning to feel it. Perhaps, it was impossible but it still hit me hard. But I accepted it. Neither I wanted a painful relationship nor I wanted to force Jin. But then he realized he loves you."
Her cheeks ached as she held in her tears. "I was happy for him. Suddenly, I thought that yeah...you are perfect for him. We were impossible but with you, he could finally breathe. So tell me, what should I do when I come to know who you really are?" 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Alix wryly smiled. "What would any person do in this situation? Hate me. Loathe me."
"How am I supposed to hate you if you are Ren Alix now?"
"A change in identity doesn’t erase the past."
"But a change in actions fucking does! You are that one person who stumbled Jin off his way but you are that same person who helped him find hope in the way he was lost to. I know Jin. He would never hate you. He would look beyond the past because he loves you so much.
Well good for him but what about me? I was happy to hate and curse that one person who made me so miserable but now you have snatched that away from me too! Yeah because everybody should see your redemption, right? The good things you did."
"I have never-"
"I know you didn’t! You are doing this to have your own peace of mind. You aren’t expecting forgiveness...but it’s exactly why it’s so hard...It doesn’t hurt only because of Jin but we were good friends too. And now not only did I lose Jin to you, I lost my good friend to you too! It just never ends for me, does it?"
Alix sat still, letting her pour out her anger and hatred. She trembled but not with pain but happiness. It was similar to how Jin’s mentality had worked that he wanted Shui to hate him for hurting her. If she hated the guts out of her, he would probably feel some relief.
Alix thought she was in a similar zone. She wanted to feel this blast of hatred on her face. It would bleed her - she knew that, especially from that person she was beginning to grow fond of. Shui was right. They had become good friends in a way, but one truth changed the light in which people saw her.
Alix thought for a long time but only two words could escape from her lips.
"I’m sorry."
She slightly shivered in cold. She didn’t realize it until now but she missed Shui. She missed talking to her. As far as she could remember, she didn’t have much girl friends in the past. Her relationship with Guiying was different for her.
But somebody who she could call her friend...
It was when Alix and Shui hung around that she realized how much Shui meant to her. She knew she deserved her hatred more than anybody else’s but watching her drift farther away from her had felt like somebody had punched her in the guts.
All because of Jin who confessed! I so want to kill that piece of shit!
She then quietly said, "He is doing all this stupidity because of me. I will make Wang Xia cough out the truth and bring Jin out of jail and then..." she breathed in, "I will never show you my face again."
Shui’s gaze darkened. "You do that and I will hate you even more."
"What do you mean?" She blinked.
"Ahhhhh!!!" Shui clenched her jaw. "You and Hou Lin! Both of you are so infuriating! You really know how to get under people’s skin!"
Alix blinked again. She thought it was a good idea to divert the topic and her frustration to Lin, so she asked, "Lin? What did he do?"
Sorry, Lin but face some of that heat now instead of me.
"What did he not do!?" Shui was incredulous. "Why is he good at God damn bowling!? I have been trying to beat his score since time immemorial, but he just doesn’t budge!"
Alix tilted her head. "Oh. It’s pointless to wish that. It’s not just bowling. He is good at all games."
She grimaced. "He cannot be that much of an all-rounder."
"Why do you think people hated him in school? Except for communication skills, he was good in everything. Studies, sports, cooking, arts-"
"Arts?" Her eyes narrowed. "How good?"
Alix felt an imminent threat to her life.
"I wouldn’t say at your level but he paints decently."
"Decent," she sneered. "Yeah, Let me be the judge of that."
