Real laughter…

Shui stared at Lin, thinking about his words.

"It's difficult to keep moping around for too long, isn't it? If I don't laugh, then how will everybody know that everything is fine?"

"You want to lie to people?" Lin blinked.

Shui smiled. "If you don't smile in front of Alix, then you are afraid she would feel guilty, don't you? Guilty of not loving you back. You don't want her to feel that way, do you? So even if it hurts you inside, you will still smile."

Lin gave it a long thought and felt it was true. No matter how crushed he would be inside, if Alix was in front of him, the only thing she would ever see on his face would be a smile.

The silence broke with a call ringing on Shui's phone and she saw an unknown number.

"Hello?"

"M-Miss. Han! Th-This is Miss. Han's number, isn't it? I-I'm Ru Yi!"

Her eyes widened. "Ru Yi? Yes, tell me what happened? And why do you sound so scared?"

Lin was taken aback too and, he who was about to leave, stayed where he was.

"Actually, I had been trying to reach my brother, but he wasn't picking up. C-Cai isn't picking up either…"

"Okay, calm down and tell me first what happened."

"My boyfriend…he is in the same club where I'm right now. He looks really angry and I wanted to leave, but he is staying around the entrance…"

"Where are you right now? Did he see you?"

"I'm hiding in the washroom, but he is sending out people to find me. I don't know what to do," her fear was palpable through the call.

Shui calmly said, "Don't worry. Stay right where you are and don't leave no matter who approaches you. I'm coming right away. I will bring my cousin with me too, okay?"

"Yes…"

Shui hung up and Lin said, "I will come with you too."

"It's alright. I am calling Yijun right away."

"I still want to be there and I think Cai would want to be there too."

"...She said he wasn't picking her calls."

Lin's eyes narrowed and as they moved quickly, he dialed his number along the way.

"Oh, Bro, what's up?"

"So you are picking up calls."

"Huh? What do you mean? Of course, I am."

"Then why weren't you picking up Ru Yi's calls?" He sharply asked.

They got into Shui's car while Cai asked, taken aback, "H-How do you know-"

"I don't have time to explain everything but close the cafe for sometime and come to the address I will be texting you. Ru Yi is in danger."

"Yijun!"

"Sis," Yijun was surprised to see Lin accompanying her, but he left it at that. "As you rightly said, that stalker is still there."

Shui cursed. "Some people just don't learn their lesson! Is Ru Yi okay?"

"She hasn't come out yet."

She nodded. "I will go and talk to her."

"What happened!" Cai came rushing in at the same time, breathless. "Bro, why did you ask me to rush here?"

Lin's gaze turned cold. "Ru Yi's stalker followed her to the club and she wasn't able to leave."

His gaze darkened.

"That bastard…"

"She tried to call you for help, but you didn't pick up."

He froze. His lips parted and closed but he didn't respond a single word.

"We will talk about your actions later, for now, we have to help Ru Yi."

They rushed in and Shui quickly made it to the restroom. There was nobody in and she called out, "Ru Yi?"

"Miss. Han…?"

"Yes, it's me, Han Shui. Are you alright?"

One of the doors slowly opened and Ru Yi peeked outside. Relief washed over her and she ran outside, jumping to hug her.

"I'm so sorry for making you come here…I didn't know who else to call," she sniffled.

Shui's heart ached. Feeling her trembling body, it was clear how much Ru Yi had been afraid and panicking. She placed her hand over her head and gently brushed through her hair.

"It's okay. You are safe now. Shall we head out? Don't worry. That man won't be able to lay even a finger on you."

Ru Yi slowly nodded.

As they came out, the situation had taken a turn for the worse. The stalker man was in an almost violent confrontation with Cai.

"Why the hell are you here again?"

Cai coldly said, "I should be asking you that question when it was already made clear to you that you have been harassing your-"

He stiffened, unable to address Ru Yi as his girlfriend. He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. "We were clear that the next time you will see the cops if you don't stop but you followed her all the way here."

He looked at Ru Yi, who meekly followed Shui. "What do you mean she was here? I didn't know! This club doesn't belong to her so why can I not be here?"

Yijun's eyes narrowed. "Miss. Zhong said that you have been guarding the entrance all this time, so if that isn't keeping an eye on her, then what is?"

He gritted his teeth, raining down glares at Ru Yi. "So you are the one who called them!?"

He reached out to grab her when, Lin, who was standing closer, grabbed his wrist.

"You again!"

"You don't seem to learn your lesson at all," he said, unfazed.

"You are really asking for a fight, aren't you?" His gaze darkened.

"I'm not. There is no point."

He sneered. "Peeing in your pants now?"

"There is no point because you will be writhing and twisting painfully on the floor. It's wise for one to know their limits."

The man's expression was beyond indescribable. "You have got some nerve."

He placed his palm on Lin's chest, attempting to push him back with force, but instead, he remained standing in his place like an immovable mountain.

Lin stared at him, brow arched. "You sure you want to fight me?"
