Reborn: The Return of the Villainous Mr. Liu-Chapter 1189: The Twins Trial of Judgment Part 2 (1)
"I am here!"
The door banged open and Jian barged in, hands on his waist. Shui’s assistant Lingling rushed behind in a huff, breathless.
"Sir, Miss. Han already has a guest in!"
"I am special!"
Shui, who was munching on the last piece of chicken, was dumbfounded. She had assumed that the great, unbeatable force known as her sister-in-law would drag her brother back into the kitchen, but here he was anyway.
"Bro Jian, how are you here? And where is sis?"
"I fooled her and then came here," he proudly said. "Otherwise, she wouldn’t have let me go."
"..."
"That’s for a reason, Bro. You are Natsukashi’s owner. You dump all the work on sis and enjoy!" She glared.
"Sh-Shui..." Jian clutched his chest. "Those words hurt me. Am I not your handsome, adorable big brother!"
"Feels like you are already Grandpa now."
"Ew. Don’t compare us mighty twins to that disgusting oldie!" Came the other twin’s voice, Nian, who joined his brother.
"Nian!" Jian beamed, while Shui, once again, was left speechless.
"What are you doing here too?"
Nian said, "How can I not be here! I just heard the most heartbreaking news that you compared us to a no-name person!"
"First of all, I didn’t compare you, and second of all, his name is Hou Lin," she waved her hand at him.
Lin was calmly seated on the opposite chair, who was peeling a shrimp for her. Soon, he felt two shadows looming over him and he looked up.
He blinked once and said, "Hello."
"Hah, so you finally-"
By then, Lin had gone back to his work of peeling the shrimp.
"..."
Jian gasped. "Such disrespect! Di-Did you see that, Shui? The man you are comparing us to is humiliating us!"
Nian sniffled. "This is so hard to bear. Don’t we have any respect?"
Shui grimaced. "You two just came here because you got bored, right? So Bro Jian dragged in Bro Nian too because why not?"
Jian averted her gaze. "T-That’s not true at all. We are very responsible owners."
"Should I call sis Nuo to ask how responsibly you behave?"
"Th-That’s not the important question here!" Nian flared his nostrils and pointed at Lin. "How dare he ignore us when we are right in front of him!"
"He did say hello," Shui rolled her eyes.
"And then he went back to peeling shrimps!"
The twins towered over him once again. "Hou Lin."
Lin looked up once again.
"Your ignorance is not savory at all," Jian harrumphed.
He stared at them. "I am just doing what Sir Jun always tells me to do."
??
"To ignore you two if I happen to see you."
"..."
Shui choked and had to grab some water.
"Are you okay?" He immediately poured her a glass, concerned.
"Thanks..." she tremblingly took the glass, stifling her laughter.
The twins unanimously placed their hands on their chests.
"This humiliation is too harsh, Bro..."
"How did we survive in this harsh world all this time..."
Shui said, "Bro, you seriously have nothing to do here, so go back and don’t trouble sister-in-law. And Bro Nian, you too! Don’t bully your staff."
"We won’t leave until we judge this man whose food you compared to us!"
Like I said, I didn’t compare...
The twins took the bigger couch and made themselves comfortable. Their eyes narrowed at Lin, who was only focused on peeling shrimps for Shui and placing it on her plate.
"You are still ignoring us!"
"Like Sir Jun says-"
"You are not working for him anymore!"
"Some lessons are hard to forget."
"..."
Nian’s eyes narrowed at the puff pastry and grabbed it. "So this is how you are brainwashing my little sister into your cult!"
Her brow twitched.
"You think you can feed her some sweets and you will bring her over to your side."
"I run a cafe, not a cult," he said plainly.
"We will see about that!".
Nian took a bite and chewed it glaringly for two moments before his face beamed. "Oh this is good! The sweetness is just right!"
"Thank you."
Jian gasped and grabbed a sweet tart next. His face shone the next second too. "Oh this tart is so refreshingly citrusy! The buttery crust is very light!"
By now, they had turned into food critics, tasting every item that Lin had brought with him.
"It’s for Miss. Han."
Which was a sharp reminder to not hog and finish all the food by themselves.
"Her food, our food, it’s all the same!" Nian nodded.
"No, it’s not. Her food is hers. If I knew you would be here too, then I would have brought more."
The twins’ eyes narrowed and they folded their arms. It wasn’t a regular fool-around gaze but the underworld kind of gaze which would break a regular man into cold sweat.
"Are you saying that we are not allowed to eat your food?"
"Just to taste but it’s Miss. Han’s lunch," Lin held no expression.
"Are you saying we, the mighty twins, go hungry?"
He blinked. "You can come to my cafe if you are hungry. It’s nearby."
The twins marveled.
"He called us to his cafe and just did the most natural sales pitch ever!"
"He invited his competitors straight into the arena!"
Lin paused. "I just run a cafe. I don’t think it’s a competition to Natsukashi restaurant and bakery."
Jian snorted. "Don’t downplay your popularity. We have eyes and ears all around us."
"I wanted to see for myself just how delicious sweets you bake. You didn’t disappoint," Nian nodded.
They beamed. "And so!"
Ugh, I get a bad feeling about this...Shui thought.
"We should work together in Blooming!"
"Ah? Blooming?" Shui was confused.
"Well duh. Isn’t your art exhibition coming soon?" Nian said, "Whenever it is planned. So we three can collaborate with our brand names and feed the museum’s guests!"
"Nian, this is such a brilliant idea."
"We were just born classy," he snorted proudly.
Lin’s gaze finally changed for the first time since the twins had barged in. "A collaboration?"
"Yay! It will be so much fun!"
"Weren’t you all mad at him just now?"
The twins waved their hands in dismissal. "We have big hearts~"
Wow...
Shui looked at Lin and cleared her throat. "Are you really okay with this?"
