Reborn: The Return of the Villainous Mr. Liu-Chapter 1190: The Twins Trial of Judgment Part 2 (2)
Lin was, without a doubt, happy with their offer. But he wondered if he should take it.
When he stepped out of prison, he had promised to himself that he would stay away from the Liu family. But as opposed to his plans, things were going in a direction which only instigated more overlaps with the family.
He gave a slow nod. "Yes."
Shui looked at the twins and frowned. "You sure you would behave yourselves or is this just a chance to bully him?"
"..."
"Shui...your distrust towards us..." Nian wiped his fake tears, "is making my heart bleed."
"We are nice people!" Jian joined in with the fake tears.
"You just fooled your staff and came here because you were bored. Are you really nice people?"
"But we wanted to play with you!" They complained together.
I can see who their kids take after for the dramatic side...
"And besides!" Nian pointed at Lin. "How about him? Didn’t he, too, dump all the work on his cute little helpless brother and come here to bring you food! How come you don’t scold him?"
"How do you know I didn’t order anything for myself?"
"Because you like us the most!" Jian chirped. "You will definitely order from the place your handsome brother works at~ Also your beautiful sister-in-law~"
That’s some confidence...
She shook her head. "Don’t compare him to you. He doesn’t dump his work on Cai like you two do to your staff!"
Their brows twitched.
"He is a responsible owner," she nodded.
They gasped. "We are very responsible too!"
Lin’s ears perked up with the praise and he didn’t know why but hearing it from Shui made him feel happy.
Nian’s eyes slightly narrowed.
"Oh, oh! By the way, are you done with your painting?" Jian asked with a beam. "I wanna see! I wanna see!"
She coughed. "It’s still in progress, though some finishing touches are required."
"We wanna see!!!"
"No!" She glared at them. "It will be revealed during the exhibition so be patient."
They pouted. "Just a tiny bit? Pretty please?"
Shui’s lips twitched with how their black eyes shone with the utmost sincerity. They looked too cute to say no to or else she would get a heart attack.
"Ugh, no wonder sis Leina and Xing Bi got seduced by you. You don’t play it fair!"
Nian smirked. "Our charm is a super important tactic in our rule book."
"What rule book?"
"101 ways to get your love interest fall for a Liu~"
"..."
"It works on non love interests too~"
"Hou Lin! Hou Lin! Do you want the rule book too?" Nian sparkled.
Apparently, he felt heavily invested in sharing the rule book secrets with him.
"Yes, yes!"
Lin blinked at the twins. "I don’t think so. The rule book is pointless for me. I’m not charming."
"What bullshit. Who told you that?" Shui almost instantaneously scoffed.
The three turned their gazes toward her at once and she realized she might have sounded a bit too passionate with her response.
"I mean...I have seen it in the cafe. There are many repeat female customers because they want to see Lin. They blush and gush all over when he comes out. Of course the service is great too, but so is..him," she cleared her throat and looked away from the twins’ prying eyes.
Lin furrowed his brows. "Don’t they come for Cai? He is handsome and he gets along well with the customers. He is charmingly very social."
Shui’s eyes slightly widened, taken aback. "Well, yeah sure. He is one part of it and you are the other. If he is social, then you are the silent and calm type. You kind of give off mysterious vibes. Some women really like that in a man."
"Do you also like that type, Shui~!" Nian merrily chimed in.
"..."
Shui and Lin, both stopped at that point. She looked at Nian, dumbfounded.
H-How did I come into the picture all of a sudden?
Though it sounded like a fool-around jolly question, Shui failed to immediately answer. If she outrightly denied it, then no matter how tiny the amount, Lin was bound to feel hurt, or somewhat affected at the very least. If she said yes, then it risked making their dynamics more awkward than anything.
These devil twins!
Her stupor broke when a glass shattered on the floor.
Lin immediately bent down, panicked. "I’m sorry. I wasn’t paying attention. I will pay for it."
"Idiot, forget the money! What are you doing picking up the glass shards with your bare hand? You will cut yourself," she glared. "Wait here. I will go out and tell Lingling and get someone to clean this up. You stay put, okay?"
"I am sorry..."
"It’s just a glass. Don’t beat yourself over it," she shrugged. "I will be back."
The door closed and Lin silently breathed out.
Jian’s eyes sparkled. "Hey, hey, that was a nice diversion tactic to get her out of the pinch~ Me likey~"
Lin stared at him. "I don’t think that was a necessary question to ask."
"Hmmmmm, we don’t see it that way because we do see something~" Nian chuckled.
"See what?"
"Something along the lines of what we saw happening with our cute little brother, Jin~ It was slow, but it was there."
Lin still didn’t quite understand what they meant but he was clear about one thing.
"...Don’t ask her that again. I don’t want to see Miss. Han uncomfortable."
Jian raised a brow. He remembered while he was working with Jun, how quiet and reserved of a man the assistant Hou Lin was. His core personality still remained, but it was the first time that Jian felt a voice of his own.
"And is that a challenge?" He smiled. "We like asking uncomfortable questions. They have fun answers precisely because they are so uncomfortable and because those uncomfortable questions will eventually outrun you. You helped her give an excuse to escape now. You cannot do that forever~ Neither toward yourself."
