Reborn: The Return of the Villainous Mr. Liu-Chapter 1214: Sweet escape
"So what is the plan?" Shui asked as they waited in the long queue of the swing wheel ride.
"Swing wheel," Lin blinked.
"...With Mr. Zhong and sis just right behind us."
She turned back and saw Nuo waving her arm at her with a cheerful grin, standing a few people away from them. Zhong Sihan was comfortably seated on a bench. At first, the assumption was that the troublesome gang would leave once they would be caught red-handed.
But instead the chaotic bunch took this as the chance to take the day off, becoming an unofficial date for Jin and Alix. Ruyi and Cai had the presence of mind to leave Lin and Shui alone, so they left to charter other attractions of the amusement park together, albeit with great hesitation because who went alone?
"We are just...hanging out as friends, okay?" Cai cleared his throat.
"Y-Yeah I know," Ruyi looked down, clasping her hands together. His company was more than enough for her.
Alix had dropped her comment of them being on their unofficial date too, but Cai had covered her mouth before her words reached Ruyi’s ears.
Which left only Nuo and Zhong Sihan, who grudgingly joined in one group, completely determined and invested in becoming the bone in the chicken on their date.
"They are going to follow us everywhere," Shui said. "They are enjoying this way too much."
Lin thought about it. "Let’s escape. It’s quite crowded here. They won’t notice it if we slip out."
Her eyes sparkled. "Perfect!"
By the time Nuo’s attention fell on her front again, Shui and Lin were already nowhere to be seen.
Ah?
She walked back to the bench and asked, "Did you see them? They are not in the queue anymore," she pouted.
Zhong Sihan shrugged.
"Your future son escaped with my sister-in-law. How am I supposed to spy on them now?"
He sipped on his bubble tea. "I have eyes and ears everywhere. I thought they would pull something like this."
He tapped on his earpiece and a voice crackled. He heard the message and said, "They are heading towards the Cyclone roller coaster."
Nuo sighed and joined him on the bench. "Well, I am too lazy to follow."
She grabbed a small bucket of popcorn that was supposed to be Zhong Sihan’s but she didn’t care. Zhong Sihan did.
"Go buy your own popcorn."
"Don’t be stingy. It’s such a sunny day today. You should be cheerful."
"I would have been more cheerful if they were heading for the boat ride."
"Why?"
"Get on the boat and kiss."
"They are taking it slowly."
"Slow wastes time."
Nuo crunched on popcorn and looked at him. "Is that why you are bugging Lin to become your adopted son?"
"I am going to live a long life, kid."
"Most of which has passed alone. Now, you are getting older. You don’t want to be alone, no matter how much you babble that you are fine by yourself. You formed a special bond with Lin in prison, and you think that he is the perfect son you want to spend the rest of your life with. Loneliness is scary."
Zhong Sihan only slightly squinted his eyes.
"There is no other reason, is there? You suddenly wanting a son and trying so hard for him to accept it? It’s not about passing down your wealth or fortune or business. You simply wish to have a family too, which you don’t find on your brother’s side. You want your own people to stay by your side when you take your last breath."
"You should stay away from Tian. He rubs people the wrong way." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"By saying the right things. Now look at that. Zhong Sihan does feel human emotions," she smiled.
His gaze darkened. "You are just as infuriating as him."
She dusted her hands and got up. "And time to enjoy the park~"
"Go call your husband."
"No. I want to infuriate you more," she beamed. "So we will hang out together, hohoho!"
—
"That was amazing!"
Shui was sparkling after riding the Cyclone roller coaster. The thrill of the drop had her heart still pounding.
"Let’s do that again!" She clapped.
"...Of course."
"What, are you okay? You look so pale."
His overall expression looked the same as before but Shui recognized the faint signs of discomfort.
"Are you not good with thrill rides?"
"I don’t know. This was my first time."
"What? First time? Like for the first time...ever?"
"Yes."
"You never visited an amusement park in your childhood?"
"No."
Shui felt like she could take the entire day to explore that part. But for now, she focused on the present.
"...I," she couldn’t hold back her smile. "I just never thought that you wouldn’t take the thrill rides so well. You give off the impression that nothing fazes you, especially after seeing you in the boxing ring."
Lin paused, then said, "Let’s go again."
Her eyes widened. "In this state? Forget it. You will definitely faint in the second round."
"No, I will be okay," he said with all seriousness.
Shui jammed the mouth of the water bottle on his lips and said, "No need to act like a tough guy. Just drink this and have some rest. We will go for an easy attraction next time."
Lin pursed his lips.
She rolled her eyes. "Don’t think that I think any less of you, okay? It’s just a ride. It’s not written anywhere that all men should take thrill rides with a fighting spirit. Puking spirit is also fine."
His brow twitched.
"How about we head for the boat ride next? That will be calming!"
He nodded. "Sure."
A minute later, a man - seemingly the park’s staff - approached them and handed a small note to Lin.
"I am told to give this to you," and he left.
Lin furrowed his brows with the oddity and opened the note. Shui curiously peeked in too.
’Kiss her on the boat and be done with it. My future son cannot be a slow poke.’
