Chapter 183: He had a panic attack

In Westra City.

Fire erupted from an abandoned building. As the flames curled behind them, Adrian strode out of the place with an unflinching face.

Ji Yan followed the man.

Soon, people started jumping off the huge building from various corners.

"They are showing up now instead of hiding. But Second Master, I doubt the governor is here..."

"Look for him." Adrian watched the fire blowing up in the haziness of the dawn with indifference.

"Yes..." Ji Yan quickly took out his phone and made a few calls before he turned to Adrian.

Adrian stared ahead. Calm on the outside. A storm beneath. The fire reflected in his eyes like war drums beating in silence.

"I have heard of a grand auction taking place in the Westra City, pulling people from all across the world," Ji Yan observed the man’s expressions, "And the auction house where the auction will be held is Vermilion Bird Auction House."

The moment Ji Yan finished speaking, a sharp gaze snapped to him.

Ji Yan flinched, "Second Master, it’s not a false information. Back then, the Old Master had gifted the Vermilion Bird Auction House to the First Master and this property has remained under his name even after his... death."

Adrian’s eyes narrowed and his gaze turned to the fire ahead. The reflection of it in his dark eyes made it look like there was a fire burning in them.

’’Lately, there have been such strange occurrences happening in Westra City. Could it really be...?" Ji Yan did not finish his words. He did not dare to.

The sudden ringing of a phone pierced through the tension in the air.

As Ji Yan stepped to the side to answer the call, Adrian strode towards the sedan parked at a little distance.

"Second Master... Second Master... Miss Yu.. She..."

Adrian halted in his tracks.

When the man turned around, his entire aura was enshrouded in a darkness that seemed capable of swallowing the entire world, "What... happened to her?"

Ji Yan almost passed out yet he braced himself as he spoke, "She left the mansion in the morning and she hasn’t been back since. The footage shows that she has left Eve Mansion..."

Ji Yan’s heart was trembling. He had known. Despite their constant fights and bickering, things were too smooth between his second master and Ella.

It turned out that the woman had never given up on the idea of running away after all. All this time, she was biding her time, gaining trust and growing chances for success in her escape attempt.

"Second Master, I have asked our people to look for her. I will send our people right away..."

"No need.’’

Ji Yan was stunned.

Adrian’s face seemed paler than usual. A harsh glint flickered in his bloodshot eyes. The veins on his forehead popped strikingly under the sun and it seemed like he was refraining himself from something.

’’No need to bring her back."

If Ji Yan was stupefied earlier, he doubted his existence at this moment. No need to... bring her back?

No need to bring Ella Yu back?

His second master... really let go...?

"Second Master!" Ji Yan immediately ran to the man who clutched his head with both his hands.

In a swift movement, Ji Yan opened the car door and helped the man inside.

Veins popped up on Adrian’s neck, his fingers curled around his hair, his eyes were bloodshot. The man seemed to be losing his breath.

Ji Yan immediately pulled out his phone and dialled a number.

The call was answered on the second ring, "Yanyan, did Adrian discard his phone again today? Why is getting so hard to get in touch with him—"

"Dr. Knight, the Second Master’s condition worsened suddenly..."

In Vermilion City, Ronan looked away from the Ambrose Mansion and turned the steering wheel around, "Was he asleep? Is it an episode again?"

’’No... No, he wasn’t asleep. It’s just we got the news. Miss Yu. She’s missing... again."

"Sh*t." Ronan’s voice dropped. "Tell me what he’s doing right now. Everything. Don’t leave anything out."

Ji Yan observed Adrian. The man’s veins were popping and his hand that was clutching his head earlier had shifted to the left side of his chest. He was inhaling sharply yet... unable to breath.

Ronan inhaled a deep breath, "He is not having his usual episodes..."

"Dr. Knight, what’s happening...?"

"Adrian is having a panic attack. Put me on speaker. Now."

Ji Yan got inside the car, his heart heavy.

"Adrian, listen to me. Adrian!" Ronan’s voice reverberated in the car yet Adrian’s eyes remained shut.

The man did not move once.

"Take a deep breath!"

Minutes passed by as Ronan tried to reach Adrian yet—

"Dr. Knight, it’s not working... Second Master... is unresponsive..." Ji Yan’s voice trembled.

Ronan slammed on the breaks. What he was about to do... was the wrong thing to do in this situation.

Yet, at this moment, he had no other choice.

In the black sedan, Ronan’s voice rang again, "Adrian, you don’t know what’s up with Ella, do you?"

Ji Yan moved to turn off the speaker instinctively, "Dr. Knight, why are you mentioning her? What if the Second Master’s condition worsens...?" Yet in the next moment, he froze.

Adrian actually responded. His eyes opened, regaining a hint of clarity.

"You have been busy so you probably don’t know the results of her website launch, do you? She got a phenomenal response. Everybody in Vermilion City is talking about it..."

"She did not leave you... She is held up at work..."

Adrian heard those words in a daze, his brain barely registering anything except—did not leave. Did not leave. Did not leave.

...

In the airport of the Westra City, a woman dressed in an elegant burgundy trench coat walked out with a mask on her face. Her long hair was tied in a thick braid.

Even though her face and body was completely covered, she still garnered quite a lot of attention from the passersby.

"Doesn’t she seem a little familiar?"

"Familiar? You can’t even see her face!"

"I don’t know... I feel like I have seen her somewhere." A woman took out her phone and opened her social media.

"Wait! Isn’t she that famous ex-model who has created a buzz recently?!"

"She was here just now. How did she disappear?!"

"This is probably the first public appearance of Ella Yu after she retreated from limelight and got into limelight again!"

In the ladies washroom, Ella pulled down the layers of masks she had put on her face to cover herself.

"Are these people psychics?!" Ella leaned back on the closed door of the restroom.

Even when she was a model, Ella had never really thought that popularity was a problem. People looking out for her, chasing her, asking for her autographs, and pictures even, was a little overwhelming... but sweet.

And Ella was fine with it. Until she got to the side of negative popularity.

Where people chase you not for autographs or pictures but for the sake of juicy gossip.

If she was caught by the people outside just now, Ella wondered what kind of pictures and gossip about her would be doing rounds outside!

"Miss Yu?"

Ella’s mind buzzed for a moment before she turned around.

Lilith stood in front of her, dressed in an elegant dress that reached her ankles, "What a pleasant surprise to see you here in Westra City."

An unflinching smile and an elegant posture, Lilith was the epitome of perfection. But this perfection of hers unnerved Ella.

Especially after the nightmare she had about Lilith in her dorm room.

After her rebirth, Ella had mostly had nightmares about her previous life but there were two instances where she dreamt of irrelevant things.

First, everything that happened to Adrian after she got kidnapped and how he visited her in that cell later. Second, Lilith tortured her and had her memories erased.

In both the instances, Ella could not differentiate what was real and what was not. Yet she had never underestimated Lilith.

In both her lives, Lilith was the perfect bride for Adrian and the most ideal daughter-in-law for the King Family. This time, she had kept her behaviour in check in front of both Old Master and Old Madam.

But Ella believed that had she not been Adrian’s choice, they would not glance at her for a second time. They preferred Lilith as Adrian’s partner, and in her previous life, they openly claimed that.

When Ella did not respond to Lilith, Lilith smiled even wider, "You don’t seem to like me very much, Miss Yu."

Ella waved her hand, "Likewise, Miss Quinn. You don’t seem to adore me as well."

Lilith shook her head, "That’s not it. You are a very refreshing person."

When Lilith stepped towards her, Ella took a step aside and turned the faucet to wash her hands.

"Are you here with Ace?"

When she heard Lilith’s question, Ella froze. Adrian was here in Westra City?!
