In a luxurious VIP suite, Adrian laid on the bed. Although his eyes were closed, his brows were tightly knit.

Suddenly, his eyes snapped open.

"Second Master!’’ Ji Yan was startled by the abrupt movement and he immediately pulled out his phone to call Ronan again.

But Adrian raised his hand, "I am fine."

Ji Yan paused and seeing that the man’s condition seemed more stable, he was relieved.

However, he was still in disbelief. First, his second master had a panic attack because Ella was gone.

And then, he snapped out of that attack at the mention of Ella.

Following Ronan’s instructions, Ji Yan gave Adrian his usual sleeping pills which did not seem to have any effect on the man. In the end, he increased the dosage.

After taking the sleeping pills, Adrian finally closed his eyes.

’Take care of him. He will remain passed out for the entire day. I am on my way there.’ Ronan had instructed Ji Yan.

Yet, it hadn’t been half an hour and Adrian was awake yet.

"Second Master, shall I make arrangements to return to Vermilion City?" Ji Yan composed himself and looked at the man for further instructions.

Adrian sat on the bed, one of his hands rested on his knee. His slender fingers roughly raked through his dark hair.

"No need." Adrian’s deep voice sounded a little hoarse, "When is the auction?"

At the mention of the auction, Ji Yan visibly stiffened.

Adrian’s eyes narrowed, "It’s tonight."

’’Make arrangements."

"Y-Yes..."

"Look for her. Protect her from a distance," Adrian suddenly spoke up, "Let her do what she wants."

When Ji Yan heard that, a weird expression flickered on his face, "Second Master, I have already tracked Miss Yu down."

Ji Yan couldn’t tell why his second master was avoiding Ella or what exactly transpired between the couple.

But after seeing the man’s condition, Ji Yan did not need to be negligent.

Adrian tilted his head slightly, darkness flitting across his eyes as his fingers curled, "Is she..."

"She is all by herself, in the Westra City,’’ As soon as he said that, Ji Yan saw the man’s expressions relaxing.

’Is Second Master... still worried that she might look for Maxwell?’

Ji Yan sighed. To him, what Ella was up to was even more concerning because he could not make sense of his actions.

Adrian pushed himself out of the bed. When he pulled out his phone from the bedside drawers, he saw a few missed calls in it.

His eyes roamed past all the numbers before settling on the one beneath. A missed call from her.

Adrian’s fingers curled around the phone.

After a beat of hesitation, Ji Yan revealed what he had discovered, "Miss Yu is currently staying in this hotel and from our informants, it seems like she plans to go to the auction held in Vermilion Bird auction house."

"So, Adrian came to Westra City for work," Ella mumbled as she removed layers of her clothes that she had put on for the disguise.

Had she not met Lilith there, she would not have known about it.

Even though Lilith asked her if she came to Adrian, she seemed to be sure that it was not the case.

Adrian was in Westra City. Lilith was in Westra City. Adrian even ignored her call, which he usually never does.

Ella pulled down her stockings a tad bit too vigorously and the soft fabric shredded from the center.

Ella glared at it before throwing it away.

In fact, knowing her past record and Adrian’s absence, she did not know how people would perceive it if she left just like that.

After giving it a thought, she pulled out her phone and went through it. Yet, it did not seem like Adrian had called her back, or texted her for that matter.

’Is it the bad network here...?’ Ella slumped on the bed, ’Probably the calls or texts are not getting through?’

Right then, Ella’s phone buzzed and a text from Ruby floated on top.

Ella sat up. She nearly forgot about it. Soon enough, the auditions for this drama will start in the Imperial University.

In her previous life, Esther had taken her social media account and by now, the entire city was talking about her because of the buzz she created.

But in this life, Ella did not let Esther have her account. The wings of the butterfly fluttered and things changed.

Even though Ella’s goal was just to sell her stuff and make enough money, she ended up being at the receiving end of all this attention.

After giving it a thought, Ella responded to Ruby’s text: [I have gone through the script. Let’s start preparing for it together from next week.]

Later that evening, Ella donned a white dress that reached her ankle. After doing some subtle makeup, she stepped out of the hotel room.

When Ella checked the time, it was past 7 pm.

Ella rushed out of the hotel to hail a cab but her steps came to abrupt halt at the entrance.

At a little distance away, a mysterious black sedan was parked. Dressed in a classic black suit, Adrian strode towards the car and opened the door for him.

Ella’s feet moved on their own accord. Just as she had taken two steps in Adrian’s direction, she suddenly froze.

Dressed in a body hugging luxurious red dress, Lilith stepped towards Adrian with a gracious smile on her face and spoke to him.

From where Ella was, she could not hear a single word yet Adrian seemed to be listening to her intently.

In a few minutes, Ji Yan opened the door for Lilith. Smiling and talking, Lilith got inside the car, never once taking her gaze off Adrian.

Ella stood rooted to her spot till the car disappeared from her sight.

After a beat, Ella pulled out her phone.
