Chapter 455: Being by Your Side (1)

Adrienne’s relationship with her husband improved as if nothing had happened. They rebuilt trust and strengthened their bond, leading to a happier atmosphere in their home. However, with their busy schedules, they still prioritized quality time together.

As the launch day of his project was just around the corner, Lennox was busier than ever. He worked late into the night, ensuring everything was perfect until he finally felt confident enough to present it to his team.

Because of this, Lennox was rarely seen at home and often skipped meals to save time. As a result, he rarely saw Noah and Scarlett whenever he returned home late at night. He could only look at them briefly before heading straight to bed, feeling guilty for not being there for them. He promised himself that he would make more time for his family.

"There’s only a week left," Lennox grumbled as he pulled Adrienne into his embrace as they lay on their bed.

"I do hope your grandfather won’t give you any major projects anytime soon," Adrienne replied, seeing the dark clouds of exhaustion lingering in Lennox’s eyes.

"I haven’t told you about this, Addie, but I already handed my resignation letter to my grandfather. I’ll stay at Qin Motors for three months before returning to Huayi."

Adrienne pulled away and looked at him in surprise.

"You are leaving Qin Industries?" She asked, "But why?"

She couldn’t understand why he would choose to leave a successful company like Qin Industries. Lennox was deviating from his fate in her past life, and Adrienne wasn’t sure whether it was a good thing.

Lennox smiled at her and reached out to tuck in a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"It’s because I chose to be with you, Addie. You don’t need to worry about it." Lennox reassured her.

"But..." Adrienne hesitated. "I don’t understand, Len."

Lennox understood why she was worried. Adrienne said his life was filled with regret and pain, though his career had been successful. He had everything in life except Adrienne and Gavin.

"When you were unconscious, I met the monk who read your fate when you were younger. Your father met him before he attacked you. He said I’m destined for greater things than I can imagine, but I won’t have that if I choose to be with you." He paused as I struggled to process his words, unsure what to say next.

"You have seen how my life turned out in your previous life, Addie. I want to avoid that. I want to avoid making the same mistakes again. I do not want to lose you or Gavin this time."

Adrienne wrapped her arms around him. She told him what she had witnessed and what kind of life Lennox had after her passing.

"Are you sure about this?" She asked, knowing it wasn’t easy for her husband to give up the success and wealth he was destined for.

Lennox held her gently, burying his face against the crook of her neck, feeling a mix of emotions but ultimately knowing that his love for her was worth more than any success or wealth.

"You are worth so much more to me, Addie. No amount of success or wealth could compare to the joy and happiness you bring into my life."

He didn’t want to spend another day without her by his side.

Adrienne felt her heart swell with love for Lennox. She knew he was making a difficult decision but couldn’t deny her happiness, knowing he was choosing their life together over material success. At that moment, she realized how much Lennox had changed since they first met. He had shed the ambition that consumed him in her past life and had become a man who valued love and family above all else. She couldn’t believe he would give up his destiny for her. It was a sacrifice she never expected, but one that made her love him even more.

"Len, I don’t know what to say," Adrienne whispered, tears glistening. "I am so grateful for your love and devotion, but I don’t want you to have any regrets. Are you sure about this?"

Lennox pulled back slightly to meet her gaze, his eyes filled with determination.

"I’ve thought about it long and hard, Addie," he said, his voice filled with conviction. "When you told me about my past life, I had everything the world could offer, but without you and Gavin, it meant nothing. I can’t bear the thought of losing either of you again. I want to rewrite our story, rewrite our future."

Lennox knew his previous self had many regrets and was willing to make amends and create a better future for himself and his loved ones. He was determined to do whatever it took to ensure that they would never have to experience that pain again.

"After hearing what happened to Gavin, I know I cannot stand idly by and do nothing. I must take action and help him in any way I can, Addie. By returning to Huayi, Gavin would have more time for himself and could be with Myrtle more often. I wanted my only best friend to be happy this time." He added.

Lennox couldn’t imagine the pain and suffering Gavin went through when he lost Myrtle and Dylan in Adrienne’s past life. Gavin deserves to find happiness and peace in his current life.

"Did your grandfather approve?" Adrienne asked, knowing that the old patriarch of the Qin family might have had reservations about Lennox leaving the company.

"He tried to persuade me to stay, but I insisted on leaving. Since I already decided to stay with you, I would be willing to face any consequences." Lennox answered.

Adrienne sat down and considered how it would affect their future.

"Don’t worry about our finances, Addie. I have made several investments to ensure our financial stability," Lennox reassured her.

Adrienne felt a sense of relief, knowing that Lennox had their future secured. She knew Lennox was always looking out for their best interests.

"I’m not worried about that, Len. I just don’t know how to feel that you are sacrificing something for me," Adrienne admitted. "I don’t want you to resent me or regret your decision in the long run."

Lennox smiled warmly and took her hand. "Addie, you are worth any sacrifice. I choose to be with you because I love you, and nothing else matters more than our happiness together. If you were in my shoes, you would do the same without thinking twice. If this is the price for me to pay to be with you in this lifetime, I won’t regret anything. I would gladly pay it."

Adrienne smiled weakly and allowed Lennox to hold her in his embrace. He was right. She would gladly do if she sacrificed something to be with him. She tightened her grip around him, feeling the weight of his words sink into her soul. She wanted to believe that their love could conquer anything, but she also knew that life could throw unexpected challenges.

"Lennox," she began softly, "we know how unpredictable life can be. What if this decision leads to hardships? What if we struggle financially or face obstacles we never anticipated?"

Lennox’s posture straightened as he looked deep into her eyes, his voice unwavering.

"Addie, I’m not saying it will be easy," he said with determination. "But I believe in us. I believe that together, we can overcome any obstacle. We have faced hardships before and come out stronger. The monk didn’t specifically say that I needed to give up all my material wealth but only stop pursuing greatness in this lifetime. He warned me that I would never find true happiness if I forsake you. And I believe that true happiness lies in being by your side, Addie."

His words moved Adrienne. She had always known he was a kind and compassionate man, but this act of selflessness surpassed anything she could have imagined. Lennox was willing to sacrifice everything he had worked for to rewrite their story to create a future filled with love, joy, and fulfillment.

"Len, sometimes I think I don’t deserve you." She said with tears brimming in her eyes.

Lennox’s eyes softened as he cupped her face in his hands. "Don’t say that, Addie. You deserve every ounce of love and happiness in this world. Don’t you trust me?"

"I trust you, Len," she said softly, her voice filled with conviction. "I believe in us, too. We’ve been given a second chance at happiness, and I won’t let fear hold us back. I sometimes wonder why I was given a second chance in life. I thought it was because I needed to rectify the mistakes I made in the past, but I know now that it was you who wished for me to live. In your last breath, the person you thought was me was you, and you hoped for me to be happy. I never hated myself as much as I did at that moment. You and Gavin wouldn’t have to lose everything if it weren’t for me. "

At that moment, Lennox realized that Adrienne had been carrying the weight of his past life on her shoulders all this time. She had been living with the guilt and the burden of his death, believing that it was her fault. But he needed her to understand that none of it was her fault and that he had chosen to come back for her to rewrite their story together.

"Addie," he whispered, his voice filled with love and understanding. "You have nothing to rectify. The past is in the past, and I am here with you now. We have a chance to create a future filled with happiness, and that’s all I want for both of us. You don’t need to punish yourself like this, my love. You aren’t solely at fault for what happened in your past."

Adrienne lowered her head. Tears streamed down her face as she whispered, "I just wish I could believe that."

So many events had changed since her rebirth, and everything seemed to deviate from its original path. Adrienne could only wish this wouldn’t backfire on her tremendously in the future.
