Chapter 547: Chapter 547: Ma’abu, Enough

Kael’s focus was barely interrupted by Ma’abu’s mad roar.

With his paw still on the conquered Buffalo, Kael raised his head to look at the sky.

Speeding over from a distance was a single lion riding the waves of the flow of time.

In the blink of an eye, he had crossed the vast distance and was already a few tens of meters away from crashing into Kael.

"Enough Ma’abu!" Memphis said as she stopped her front paw on the empty air beneath her.

A distorted time wave spread out from her body, enveloping everything in her surroundings except Kael.

The consorts, the rogue mercenaries, even the Primordial Buffalo were frozen, although he seemed to be struggling to break free.

Ma’abu was also frozen; his power over time was not as super as Memphis’s. Besides, most of what he knew about controlling time came from Memphis.

She knew all of Ma’abu’s moves like the back of her paw as she had taught them to multiple other time lions before him.

Kael looked around with a frighteningly cold expression.

’Hmm,’ Kael noticed that Katari had already broken free two seconds after she was frozen, surrounding herself in a layer of distorted time to offset the power of time.

But she didn’t move, not yet.

Meanwhile, Katari spoke up in the group chat at this moment, alerting the lion kings that Ma’abu had found Kael and they were about to clash.

No one could tell the kind of commotion this would cause for the lion kings who had already dug deep into the planet and were still smashing their way to the core.

Suddenly, Memphis frowned, "Ma’abu, what did you do?" She asked.

The sound of glass shattering resounded before Ma’abu broke free from the constraints of his former mentor.

"Teacher, you disappoint me," Ma’abu said, shaking his head and dropping to the ground, unharmed.

Kael scoffed, annoyed, "What is it?" He asked Memphis telepathically.

He had been hoping that Memphis would hold Ma’abu down while he made short work of him and eliminated this threat once and for all.

Why was Memphis then holding back? He knew that she had more than enough power to hold Ma’abu down.

Besides, Ma’abu was alone. He didn’t come with any of his lion kings from the Anti-Primordial coalition. He had probably sped up and left all of them behind, meaning that those ones would catch up eventually.

The head of the snake was here. Once they cut it off, the whole body should be useless.

Why then was Memphis acting contrary to what was planned?

Did she still have affection for this prodigal student?

"He’s body..." Memphis said, feeling shocked, "My powers stopped working around my body."

"What?"

Kael took heavy steps forward, unafraid of Ma’abu.

The golden lion and the time lion met. Kael had finally met the person responsible for a lot of his problems.

Technically, this was the first time they were meeting. None of them had intended to plan against each other from the shadows, but they did.

"All-King..." Ma’abu chuckled, baring his white fangs, "That’s a very bold name, the kind fit for a legend," He said.

He pranced around, stepping over the soil with elegance. His mood was calm but his eyes kept glancing around for any signs of danger.

His senses were mostly kept on Memphis, he knew the current situation would cause Memphis to hesitate instead of charging at him.

He had expected this, down to the very last second. He had taken so many variables into account, he felt that his plan had to work.

Ma’abu made sure to prepare fully.

"Ma’abu," Kael muttered calmly, "You must have spent a lot of resources to call me out like this, didn’t you?" Kael asked.

Ma’abu frowned, then relaxed; he had also expected this level of calmness from the All-King.

"How did you find the Gauntlet? You actually kept the secret to yourself until you wanted to use it to draw me out?" Kael asked.

"Who? Me?" Ma’abu shook his head, "You’ll have to thank someone else for that.

I’m just taking the opportunity to end your existence once and for all."

Kael’s face remained expressionless but he was secretly wondering who else it could have been. If Ibadon was the one, then there was serious trouble.

"So, all this because I killed your son?" Kael asked another question, stalling for time.

He could sense what Memphis had talked about.

Ma’abu had indeed come prepared and his aura was something that Kael’s instincts were warning him to stay away from as much as possible.

"No no no no no," Ma’abu denied, "This is not about my son’s death.

Although, it was painful to find out he was dead, oh well.

But you, All-King Kael, you are a cancer to the lion race, a parasite, an unstable factor that must be removed for the race to welcome peace.

Only in the complete absence of Primordials would the universe truly know what it means to rest.

And with you out of the way, the lion race will be able to live in peace. Cubs would wake up every day no longer worried that a Primordial might be born to bring another era of restlessness.

With your death, there will be peace!"

Ma’abu declared grandly like a fallen eldritch priest. He sounded mad.

Kael’s fangs were finally bared, "As long as you are a lion, there will never be peace, only conquest.

It’s a shame you of all people could not have seen that. We could have worked together, conquered the universe together, so much to achieve.

But every story needs a hero I guess," Kael sighed.

By hero, he was obviously referring to Ma’abu. Any story told from Ma’abu’s perspective would make Kael look like a clear-cut villain.

"You taint your tongue and your lionhood with sinful words, Ma’abu. I’ll take it upon myself to wash that tongue with your blood..."

*BOOM!*

The ground exploded and Gabby as well as other lion kings burst out from underneath Ma’abu.

Coincidentally...

"Ma’abu is there! Look, that’s the Primordial Supporters and that cursed All-King!"

Roars came from above and below, the combined aura of so many lion kings rushing out of nowhere instantly shattered the time hold that Memphis had been maintaining.

The Primordial Buffalo and Kael’s consorts were unfrozen.

Ma’abu lunged at Kael, ignoring Gabby who was about to bite his tail.

Lion Kings from above dived straight for Exalon and the other lion kings of the Primordial Supporters.

So much happened in seconds.

Memphis saw everything in slow motion

So, she acted, using the full power of a time lioness.

*SNAP!*

Silence.

Memphis had not done anything. She couldn’t.

She had merely begun to distort time on a continental scale when she felt it.

The planet moved.

She knew what she felt as she had felt it a lot back during the times she left a planet right before destruction.

This Battle Planet was compromised, someone had managed to get to the core already.

Everything was still moving in slow motion.

She quickly assisted the situation, Kael was in danger.

But she couldn’t really hold Ma’abu back because of whatever he had in him right now that nullified her powers.

But there were the consorts and the Primordial Buffalo who were already being shrouded by Katari’s powers.

They were covered.

All that was left to handle were the enemies, the thousands of enemy lion kings shooting down from the sky with killing intent.

Within a millisecond, Memphis had assessed everything to the best of her abilities and immediately followed up with prompt action.

To the others, time was moving very normally.

Ma’abu was speeding toward Kael, closing the gap between them almost instantly.

Gabby, Shawty, Saul, and the rest, were chasing after Ma’abu.

And thousands of lion kings were chasing after them from the sky, although they were now being stopped mid-air by a thick layer of time flow.

The sheer weight of killing intent concentrated in this place was terrifying.

Alas, it was a bit too late.

Ma’abu had planned too well, using milliseconds to make adjustments to his plans on the go.

He was aware of who was chasing him and who was helping me. He was aware of multiple variables and was preparing them.

He too could see the world in slow motion, but he could also see Kael’s frightening gaze locking onto him.

But Ma’abu didn’t care. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

He didn’t care about the almost undetectable earthquake that just happened.

He didn’t care about the lion kings following after him.

All he cared about was ending Kael’s life, that was why he had brought a forbidden item to this place today.

As Ma’abu lunged at Kael with extreme speed, something slid out of his black mane.

It was a long, thick lion tail. Seemingly cut from the base of whichever lion it had come from.

The tail looked ordinary but the aura it emitted made any lion instantly want to vomit and stay far away.

Unfortunately, this tail was positioned by Ma’abu to appear directly in front of Kael in such a way that the latter wouldn’t be able to dodge it.

Like the chains of fate, the tail of an anti lion wrapped around Kael’s neck.
