Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 590: They’re All Connected
"Marcus, something is wrong with Natalia!" Ralph shouted as he rushed into the command chamber with a panicked expression.
Inside the chamber of command, there were now very few lion lords left as many of them had already been dropped off on desirable planets to start their ’little’ empires.
Right now, the lion lord who was usually on the pillow throne overseeing everything was nowhere to be seen but Marcus, Bibi, and Vixy were here.
"What is it?" Marcus asked, his deathly eyes observing Ralph’s expression.
Ralph shook his head, "I don’t know, a spider had come to me for help, that I should try and check on Natalia.
I went to see her but I can’t describe what’s happening well.
She’s...changing."
That was all Ralph could say. He might be able to describe what he saw, but he wouldn’t necessarily be able to describe the aura he felt.
It was a distinctly unfamiliar feeling that Ralph had never experienced before.
"I’m coming," Marcus said before turning into a wisp of dark mist and following after Ralph.
They left the others behind. The Primordials had established a kind of understanding among themselves, recognizing that they were unlike the other mortals they coexisted with.
And based on what they had been hoping for concerning Natalia, this should be a matter that only Primordials will attend to.
That was why despite seeing so many people in the chamber of command, Marcus was the only one that Ralph called.
Ralph used the arkship’s gate system to navigate through the large corridors and make his way to the chamber world of the spiders.
Ralph and Marcus entered the chamber world, seeing a vast expanse of dark land and tall trees.
Marcus ascended into the sky, turning into his true vulture form and spreading his dark misty wings wide.
His eyes scanned the surroundings. He could see hundreds of enormous spider burrows and a large amount of webs strung across the trees and grounds.
Marcus could sense the life force of many spiders in this chamber world. In the whole arkship, the spiders were the only ones that had not yet been dropped on any planet.
"There!" Down below, Ralph pointed to the north where a certain aura was slowly rising fast.
Marcus nodded and flapped his wings, flying toward that location.
Ralph transformed, taking on the form of a giant grey-furred wolf and following Marcus on land.
As they traversed the world, Marcus noticed that there were almost no spiders coming out to check them.
Although Marcus was flying up in the sky and not disturbing the terrain, his aura was extremely terrifying and would garner the attention of any living thing within the area.
Also, Ralph was running through the deathly forest in his giant wolf form. Every step of his was heavy and would definitely disturb the underground burrows that the spiders lived in.
However, no spider appeared to give any protest or at least show displeasure.
Marcus could feel their life forces inside the burrows so he knew that these spiders were still there. And they were not dead.
But they seemed to be...sleeping?
Marcus narrowed his eyes, then flapped his wings, turning into a streak of black light and leaving Ralph behind.
Within an instant, Marcus had arrived at the scene and what he saw was indeed shocking.
Webs, there were webs everywhere.
Webs were a standard thing to see in this place since its inhabitants were spiders. But what was here was simply too much.
"So this is what she has been building?" Marcus asked himself as he observed from above. He couldn’t land because there were webs everywhere.
There was a cocoon, a very big oval-shaped cocoon made of white spider webs. The cocoon was at least ten meters tall and seven meters wide.
Marcus could feel a strong life force emanating from the inside.
This white cocoon made of webs had millions of tiny webs connected to it. These tiny webs were coming from the many burrows that those other spiders were residing in.
From above, it looked like an interconnected network of webs with the large cocoon serving as the central point.
"It wasn’t like this when I was here," Ralph said as he came over. He couldn’t get within a hundred meters of the cocoon so Marcus had a better view of the whole thing.
"Where is the spider that told you about this?" Marcus asked as he circled the cocoon from the air.
Ralph looked around, "There," He said, using his muzzle to point at a certain spider not far from him.
Marcus looked in that direction and saw a dog-sized spider collapsed on the ground. It was dead, and Marcus could still feel the life force and absence of death essence.
But his spirit sense could detect that this spider wasn’t all that alright. The eight eyes of this spider were clouded, dazed, as if he were not himself anymore.
Upon a closer look, Marcus and Ralph could see a web string sticking out of the abdomen of this spider and running all the way down to join the millions of web strings.
Just like the rest, the web string coming out from this particular spider ended up being connected to the massive web of cocoons at the center.
"They’re all connected," Marcus said, then looked at the cocoon, "I take it that Natalia is the one inside, right?"
Ralph nodded solemnly, "When I came the first time. She seemed to be experiencing a lot of pain and pleasure at the same time.
There was no cocoon at all, just Natalia weaving her webs like a mad psycho as she changed.
Yes, she was changing before my eyes. Her hair had become...white.
Her eyes were strange, clouded, unfocused. She cried and laughed, mumbling something about her victory over mediocrity.
Her transformation was slow but I couldn’t wait to see what she was turning into, she was also behaving and looking quite aggressive.
I had to come and get you."
Ralph then thought of something, and then he looked at Marcus in the sky. He had an uneasy expression on his face as he thought about what he wanted to say.
"Marcus, I think I sensed the aura of a Primordial from her," Ralph said. He knew what he sensed but he still wasn’t sure.
The cocoon now wrapped over Natalia and there was no audacity leaking out.
Marcus didn’t react too strongly to this reaction, he only gave out a "Hmm," Before sinking into his thoughts.
He had been with the All-King for a good amount of his early days before they had to leave Eridoria.
Marcus was aware of what was possible and what wasn’t. What Ralph said? He wasn’t sure either.
"I’ll contact His Majesty," Marcus said.
