Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 592: Leverage Over The All-King
Zabita was bold.
Or at least, it seemed that way.
Or maybe Zabita just didn’t think of the consequences of her actions before she did it.
Or maybe she was too used to getting out of some situations unscathed that she had lost a lot of her survival instincts.
Yes, that should be so. Because right now, Olivia felt that Zabita had the survival instincts of a wooden board.
And yet, Olivia was asking herself why she still followed Zabita.
Olivia knew that she was indirectly playing a part in Zabita’s reckless and nonchalant character.
After all, both of them tended to hang out a lot. Most times, they would be together. Olivia and Zabita spent more time with each other than they spent alone.
They were already so familiar with themselves that they felt it was natural to always hang out like this.
Olivia knew that she was Zabita’s enabler. She doubted if Zabita could hang out with Alora, N’bayé, or Katari and still afford to be so reckless.
Katari alone would beat her senseless before Zabita could mess anything up, Olivia was sure of it.
But with her, Olivia seemed not to think too much of her actions before doing them. What annoyed Olivia the most sometimes was that Zabita was not even impulsive.
It wasn’t like Zabita wasn’t smart enough to identify the impulsive and intrusive thoughts that came to her mind. She could.
But her carelessness was just something else.
Olivia peeled her eyes away from Zabita who stood beside her and looked at the individual who had just arrived.
A lion covered entirely in flames also had two extremely large wings on its shoulders.
The lion’s mane burned fiercely with heat and bright orange flames that caused the surrounding temperature to rise fiercely.
"...This one is scared," Zabita said with an annoying level of calmness and nonchalance that didn’t just make Olivia vexed, but also aroused the anger within Elijah.
"Consorts of the All-King," Elijah spoke, flames spewing out of his mouth and nose, "What are you doing here?"
Hearing this, Zabita smiled and eyed Elijah up and down lazily, "So you know who we are, and you still charged at us like that?
Aren’t you scared for your life?" She asked.
As annoying as it sounded, it was a reasonable question. Why would Elijah just charge at them like that?
He had actually been planning to slam his burning body into them, an action that would definitely kill them.
Fortunately, they had ’luck’ on their side and Elijah just happened to rein in the impulsive thought from his head.
Elijah growled when he heard the question, it was precisely because he knew who they were that he had charged at them.
By Elijah’s logic, they were already doomed to die since these two appeared here.
If they were here, then the All-King should not be far behind. And if the All-King was aware of this place, it was only natural that he would be expecting a whole lot of bad things to come to this place very soon.
So what then was the point of holding back? He might as well just kill these two so that he doesn’t die without achieving anything.
Unfortunately, he had thought twice about his actions. What if there was still a way to get out without receiving the wrath of the All-King?
It was a very possible thing to consider.
"What do you want?" Elijah asked as he set himself on the ground. The sound of the air being torn by greater forces was hard from behind him as other Lion Kings rushed over to their location.
Zabita shrugged her shoulders, "Just strolling by. We noticed that there have been traces of a foreign essence around.
Precisely, Charm Essence. So this is where it is coming from?
Not bad." She said.
"This place is a crime against Lionhood," Olivia declared with a tired and annoyed expression. Since they were already here, they might as well carry on with what they were doing.
"Hmmm," Elijah narrowed his eyes at the two, "So, you two did not come with the All-King?" He asked, an evil smile forming on his face.
Zabita opened her mouth to say something but Olivia spoke fast, "Where is the Primordial that you guys have been harbouring?
The All-King sent us to retrieve it..." Olivia said.
She had to speak with measured calculations so that some secrets wouldn’t be given away.
"The All-King sent you?" Gauss asked, skeptical of what he was hearing. He and the other Lion Kings had just arrived and they heard the words coming out of Olivia’s mouth.
Olivia looked at the group of Kings that had arrived and had a bad feeling. All of them were at least tier 6 and there were about one hundred of them around.
"Yes," Olivia said, "We know you all have been smuggling Charm Essence across heaven.
It’s a shame that we will have to put an end to it to preserve the integrity of heaven and the lion race."
Gauss looked closely at the humanoid lionesses.
"I see," He said, turning to look at Elijah.
"How did you know who they are?" Gauss asked telepathically.
Elijah blinked, "One of our kings had sent us their images via an info orb not long before he was caught and slain as a traitor."
"Hmmm," Gauss understood now.
"So what do we do with them? That chubby one is definitely bluffing," Gauss said.
Elijah narrowed his eyes, "I know," He said then took a powerful step forward.
Suddenly, his fierce aura erupted again, Zabita and Olivia were pushed back a few steps before they steadied themselves.
In the eyes of Gauss and Elijah, these two consorts of the All-King were just playing around.
Both Gauss and Elijah were more than two thousand years old and they had a lot of experience under their paws. They were so used to different kinds of enemies, even the ones that bluffed and elevated their worth beyond proportion.
They could easily see through Olivia and Zabita’s scheme just from paying attention to the tone with which they speak.
In their eyes, Zabita and Olivia were just two little lionesses who were playing with fire.
"Hehehe," Elijah chuckled, "The All-King doesn’t know you two are here, does he?" He asked with a menacing smile on his face.
Gauss and the lion kings watched this coldly.
"We are here for the Primordial Peacock," Zabita said as she forcefully took a step forward as multiple metal needles came out of her body and floated beside her.
The training she had with Memphis in the time bubble was of significant help to her as she had been able to evolve to tier 5.
Now that she had evolved, she was also capable of keeping metal within her body. That was how she was able to produce these tiny needles.
No longer did she need to have refined metal at hand for her to use her powers to their full capacity.
However, when Elijah saw the needles, he just laughed.
He took another powerful step forward and a terrifying heat wave descended. The needles turned burning red as they began to melt.
Zabita frowned, but she didn’t say anything else.
It seemed like these lions were not so scared of Kael as she had thought.
"Well then," Olivia spoke up again, trying to salvage the situation, "Since you refuse to comply, we’ll just have to go back and report to the All-King and the rest of our Pride sisters."
Olivia said then she turned around and grabbed Zabita’s hand as they began to walk away.
They had a lone arkship parked at the edge of this continent and would have to travel back there to get to it.
"And where do you think you’re going?" Elijah asked. His body flashed into multiple after-images as he turned into a fiery beam and appeared in front of Zabita and Olivia.
"We’re going back," Olivia said with a deep frown, "Move out of the way."
Elijah shook his head, "All this time, we’ve been thinking of a way to have some form of leverage over the All-King.
We’ve been asking ourselves, just how can we get our hands on his weaknesses?
Look at this..." Elijah turned around to address his comrades, "These idiots walked right into our dens!"
The lion kings except Gauss laughed. Gauss had a strange feeling, he didn’t know why.
He had this uncanny feeling that something was about to go wrong. As a Veggie Lion, he felt the surrounding vegetation bend slightly, as though they were bowing under subtle oppression.
"We’ll be taking them as hostages," Elijah announced as he walked closer to Zabita and Olivia. Zabita had a lazy but cold look in her eyes and Olivia looked really distressed.
Luck could only take them so far.
"Elijah..." Gauss spoke to Elijah telepathically, causing the latter to pause his steps.
"I don’t think you should touch them," Gauss said.
"Why?" Elijah asked, standing up from his prowling stance.
"Can’t you feel it?" Gauss asked as he looked around.
It was now that Elijah and the other Lion Kings began to pay serious attention to their surroundings.
Indeed, they could feel it.
The vicinity seemed somewhat...oppressed.
At some point that they did not know of, a golden hue had come over the whole place.
It was very faint, which was why they did not notice it immediately.
Elijah and the rest focused on the feeling of oppression and tried to trace where it was coming from.
Inadvertently, they all raised their maned heads to look at the multicolored sky.
There, just floating motionlessly, was the humanoid All-King, with his arms placed behind his back and an incredibly cold glint flashing in his eyes.
And hovering right above the All-King were a thousand lion kings.
