Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 632: Intent Blindness
"He is the one responsible for Ma’abu’s disappearance, do you think he wouldn’t have interrogated him and his accomplices?"
Emperor Zain asked with a calm smile on his face as they flew after Abel.
Victoria shook his head, "I don’t know, Ma’abu was pretty dead set on killing the Primordial Lion, I doubt he would relinquish any information.
But it depends, his memories could have been extracted.
Even if he did not know about that one, he should at least know that we had once allied with Ma’abu along with the Phoenix, Tortoises, and tigers..."
Emperor Zain nodded,"Indeed, he should have already known about that beforehand. Yet, he still honored us and sought to hear us out.
I have a theory," The emperor said.
Victoria raised her eyebrows, "Pray tell, master," She said.
Emperor Zain shook his head very slightly, his long grey eyebrows and mustache quivering with the slightest of movements from his neck.
"Based on what I have been seeing around and the basics I have learned from the Original Heaven, it is safe to say that the lions suffer severely from intentional Intent Blindness." The Emperor said but his telepathic voice lacked confidence.
"Intentional Intent Blindness? What is that?" Victoria asked, tilting her head.
At the same time, her deep azure eyes gleamed strangely as she caught sight of a very distant structure.
The Earth below passed very quickly as they covered thousands of kilometers in an instant.
"Intent Blindness..." Emperor Zain said, "It is when they don’t or cannot consider the intent of another creature.
For many years, the lions have struggled to form an alliance with any other creature in the universe.
And most of the time that they formed very short alliances, it was usually the other party that came to them, not the other way around.
Can you say that the lions didn’t know that those creatures just wanted a backer and something to rely on in their trying times?
Of course, they did, they just intentionally blinded themselves to the good and bad intentions of those creatures.
That is Intent Blindness. The lions don’t care whether you are good or bad, they don’t care whether you like them or hate them.
They know when you like them or hate them; it’s not like they’re unaware. Just like a blind bat that is still very aware of its surroundings.
The lions, they just don’t care. You could have good intentions for them and it is only what is in their minds that they would care about.
Killing intent? From their enemies? So what? The only intent they care about is the intent coming from them or their fellow lions and that is usually the intent to dominate and conquer.
It is just my theory but it would make a lot of sense if it were true. It would explain how they can treat all their vassals like pawns without feeling and break alliances on a whim.
Although it sounds like a bad thing, for the lions, Intent Blindness has helped them go far in terms of achievement.
They are not burdened by what others think about them. They do not ask if the mother bear will curse them for killing the child, they do not have sleepless nights over the screams of their food.
They do not bother themselves with the moral traps that prevent many rulers from being tyrannical.
They just are what they are.
Statistically speaking, anyone has a higher chance of success in whatever they do if they stop caring about what others think.
Imagine a whole civilization filled with creatures who have that same mentality and don’t give a breeze about their neighbors’ thoughts.
That must be why they are so successful.
But it would also explain why the lions are so good at making terrifying enemies. Even to this day, they still make more enemies.
The wonderful thing is that...they still don’t care, hehehe..."
Emperor Zain laughed. Victoria couldn’t tell if the Dragon Emperor was praising the lions or mocking them.
In all her years serving as the loyal disciple of the Primordial Dragon of Creation, she had never seen Zain compliment or mock anyone.
Neither had she seen him look down on anyone with his eyes.
As the person closest to this Emperor, she knew much about him that most didn’t. And even then, she was sure she didn’t know much.
Emperor Zain was an Immortal-tier entity and had been alive for more than five hundred thousand years, spending most of his life in Original Heaven before coming to the mortalverse to be a messiah to his race.
For Victoria, it wasn’t quite right to call Emperor Zain a covert narcissist. Although he did many grand things, he didn’t seem to enjoy the praise and attention. Always wearing that harmless smile on his old face.
If anyone wanted to truly know Emperor Zain’s heart, they would have to look at his actions. The smile on his face was just a carefully crafted mask that was efficient in hiding the mysterious thoughts in his mind.
Emperor Zain had his own thoughts concerning the lions, Victoria was sure. But she would not know the details unless Emperor Zain told her or began executing his plans.
She thought about the Intent Blindness that Emperor Zain had talked about and she found that it made sense.
Of course, Intent Blindness alone is not responsible for the general personalities and myriad behaviors of the lions, but it was a factor that could be considered when dealing with them.
Going for this meeting with the All-King, Victoria, and Emperor Zain were sure to assume that the All-King, as well as the other Lion Kings that would be present, would know of their intentions.
They would assume lions already knew of the intentions of the Creation Dragons in asking for this alliance.
But would the lions care?
No.
This would make it more predictable when dealing with them...hopefully.
The main issue on the mind of Victoria was that in the past, all the short alliances that the lions had with other creatures always ended in one of two ways.
Betrayal or abandonment.
Of course, the lions were the ones doing the betrayal. The abandonment could come from anyone.
To understand this, one would just have to look at the fate of the tigers during the time of Noel.
