Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 655: Reasonable Or Not?
"First of all," She gestured to the Time Shuttle, "Both of us will be travelling back in time."
Kael raised one of his eyebrows and tilted his head slightly.
"Are you serious?" He asked.
Memphis smiled, "Yes, you’ve never traveled back in time have you? Don’t worry, it’ll be a wonderful experience," She said.
"Hmm," Kael looked past Memphis as the hovering black time shuttle and scanned it thoroughly.
"What makes you think that I will agree?" He asked.
Kael was very cautious. It wasn’t like he wasn’t interested in the idea of traveling back in time, he just didn’t want to do anything stupid.
"I only came here to see what you were doing to evolve, not follow you for a history excursion," Kael said, the lines in between his brows furrowing.
"I’ve gone back in time before, there’s no risk in it since we will mostly be observing..." Memphis defended.
"How is this going to help you evolve, Memphis? Are you trying to comprehend something?" Kael questioned.
"Yes," Memphis nodded with enthusiasm, "I have tried it before, scouring and swimming against the river of time to observe the through flow of this universe.
I’ve always wanted to understand exactly what time is.
Time.
Time.
Time.
It’s so mysterious, so powerful. I don’t fully control it, I merely borrow its power from the universe and bend it to my will.
I’ve failed the other times, barely making any progress besides having a better understanding of past events.
I’m thinking that if you accompany me this time, something might change."
Memphis’s logic was understandable. Kael’s presence alone as a powerful Primordial who had access to the power of Fortune and someone who was already beginning to embody the Law of Conquering, was able to bend reality in subtle ways.
But...
"To not travel back in time is literally one of the universe’s greatest rules," Kael said, "But I’m also curious as to how this works."
"Relax, as long as we can’t or never attempt to change anything that occurs in history, we’ll be fine," Memphis said.
"Relax?" Kael’s eyes gleamed.
"..."
It was now that Kael turned his head to glance at the space lion King who was allegedly one of Memphis’s friends.
Instantly, Kael could observe something familiar in this king’s eyes.
That distinct lack of empathy that was consolidated by having just one obsession.
Added with the fact that this was a space lion, which was known to have this trait. Although it wasn’t an iron-clad rule that space lions and lionesses would lack empathy, it was still very common among them.
Lions may not have a sense of true morality but they would have emotions. Space lions and lionesses either had very low empathy or were masters of suppressing their feelings.
Many of them still had their empathy intact though, it wasn’t like they were all crazy sociopathic monsters like Katari...
However, this space lion King standing in the presence of Kael reminded him of someone he knew all too well.
Someone indifferent to everything but her obsession.
This space lion King was basically almost like Katari.
Almost.
He was still reasonable not stand on the opposing side. It seems his own obsession was not exactly with Memphis but probably a concept that involved making her his mistress.
Kael and the lion king stared at each other for a few seconds before the latter looked away, unwilling to challenge Kael’s will.
He submitted to Kael’s might.
This short spark of strength did not escape Memphis’s senses. She was secretly excited that it happened and the space lion many could understand that she was beyond his reach.
"I’ll be taking my leave then, I’ll see you later," The space lion King said before giving half bow to Kael then teleporting away.
Kael kept his gaze on the spot the lion king had been for a while, his eyes narrowing to form a ruthless glint that caused Memphis to shudder.
"Your Majesty, what’s wrong?" She asked.
Kael shook his head, "Nothing," He lied.
Kael knew how dangerous and unpredictable someone like Katari could be when there were minor conflicts of interest.
Kael was thinking of how he could eliminate this particular Lion King.
He immediately searched the link system for the identity mark using the aura alone and found the king’s name.
’Quin,’ Kael thought to himself, reading the name to himself over and over again.
If anything was to eventually happen between him and Memphis, Quin would have to be taken out swiftly and without commotion.
Kael would not tolerate the opportunity for resentment to settle in the heart of such an individual. He was ready to mercilessly end his life and every relative of Quin had to avoid any retaliation in the future.
Kael smiled, tucking his killing intent before it flowed out of his eyes, "It’s nothing, let’s move on with what you were talking about."
Memphis wondered what caused Kael to switch moods so suddenly but she didn’t want to think about it too much, she just wanted to focus on the evolution now that Kael was here.
Under the warm glow of the golden sky, Memphis and Kael flew to the black time shuttle and entered it.
Kael had entered the time shuttle before but had never seen it do what it was actually intended to do.
Memphis led him to a hall that could fit at least a hundred fully grown lions if they stood close to each other.
It was not that spacious for high-powered beings but it was manageable.
The ceiling was in the shape of a dome and the room was shaped like an oval.
The walls of the room seem to be made of a strange material that seems like a mix between marble and metal. It was unlike anything he had seen before, a wonder created by the monkeys.
Kael also noticed that a section of the wall had a long stream of cracks that stretched from the middle to the ceiling. It was very noticeable but Kael chose not to talk about it, not yet.
"This is the time travel station," Memphis declared, "Where...or when...do you want to go?"
