Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 770: Insufficient Logic
Ever since he was born, George had always embodied wisdom.
At first, he was just a genius, and then it became clear no one, not even the older monkeys, could match his intelligence.
In a few months, he had mastered the basics of applied maths and was delving into physics and biochemistry for the fun of it.
Where his fellow primates were taking months or years to learn the fundamentals, he was skipping the advanced levels of educational materials and going straight for the more complex stuff.
He had even begun to study the complex nature of magic despite his lack of talent in it. Magic was already a subject that was incredibly taxing to the mind of ordinary mortals but George was learning it little by little.
He did not have any talent for magic though, or any power for that matter, so what he was going to do with all this knowledge that he was gradually accumulating was unknown.
However, because of George’s incredible learning speed and his high intelligence, he could not relate to the other members of his race, even though they were somewhat smarter on average than other creatures.
As George hung from the roof of the tower, his mind drifted to different things that he had been thinking of.
These days, he doesn’t bother hiding his curiosity. He had noticed that those watching and studying him showed more interest when he was curious.
Pretending to be dumb was also very challenging for him, no different than trying to keep a stupid smile all over his face for hundreds of hours straight.
He couldn’t.
Alas, George’s intelligence did not mean he developed some kind of saintly personality.
On the contrary, because of that being that was known as the All-King, George had developed a superiority complex.
The All-King had whispered to him on many occasions through the system, telling him about his place in the universe.
Telling him about his role in a very strange game that everyone was playing.
George, naturally, was curious. He wanted to know who it was that this All-King was. He wasn’t that gullible to believe everything that this so-called All-King would tell him, but he was also very interested in finding out if what he said was true.
Once in a while, the lions would show up, friends of N’bayé he would assume, that is if the lions even had friends.
They would talk, ministering the doctrine and glory of the royal race, letting the monkeys know over and over again that they belonged under the control of the lions.
They had to accept it.
George saw his kinsmen slowly evolve into a state of skeptical worship from their previous states of pure doubt.
He remained clear-headed, no matter what he learned, he could identify what was logically sound and what wasn’t.
This was another reason why he tended to look down on everyone.
It wasn’t that they were stupid, they were just...insufficient.
"Have you ever wondered what lies beyond this place?" George suddenly asked the group of young monkeys behind him.
He was younger than all these monkeys on the rooftop and normally wouldn’t hang out with them if he worked with the innate traditions of the monkeys.
Their tails danced around, forming S-shaped shadows on the ground with the evening sun from the artificial sky.
"Why? There are only more chamber worlds," Said one of the monkeys.
"No, there isn’t," George said, "There’s a lot more beyond this world and the world after all this.
At the edges of these worlds that we are confined to are metal walls that stretch to the skies and behind them are strange metal corridors.
I have seen them.
These...constructs...are artificial..."
As George said this, he looked up to the sky where the golden screen still hung for all the monkeys in the city to see.
Flying with her two hands behind her back and her multicoloured eyes staring down at him, N’bayé seemed ever knowing.
Her eyes were locked directly on him.
The other young monkeys followed his gaze to look to the sky and saw that N’bayé was looking in their specific direction.
What was worse, she had a smile on her face.
"Whatever we are living in, it is not what we think it is," George continued, boldly undisturbed by N’bayé’s gaze.
"And I intend on finding out," He looked away and pulled himself up from the edge of the rooftop.
He didn’t wait for the young monkeys to say anything or contribute their own opinions, was there a need?
He would rather spend some time with the few monkeys who were actually smart, the ones that had been titled Sages.
George did not know why, but he could feel that something was either deeply wrong, or deeply right.
With the way the lions acted around them, the way N’bayé studied them, the way she brought up certain topics, and taught them certain skills.
It was all intentional.
She would even talk about strange things like god-alloy that he was yet to know about.
George had run his simple calculations, probability schematics that were not too complicated if one knew the formula.
And after inputting all the information he had and running the calculation, he was ninety-nine percent sure that the lions were planning something.
No, they were preparing for something, or perhaps. Something was coming, and the monkeys were of good use to the lions.
He had deciphered the way the lions talked to them, it was the same way a carpenter would talk to his hammer. They saw the monkeys as tools, that was all.
And the monkeys were too eager to be a useful tool, unaware of their role in the strange game, as the All-King had put it.
One thing George was sure of was that his wisdom was not enough to change anything.
He was merely a Primordial of Wisdom, he had no special elemental attack, no magic, nothing.
The only thing he had going for him was his intellect, his physical body that seemed to get stronger the smarter he became, and prep time.
His body becoming stronger was understandable. A powerful mind needed a powerful body. He could not grow to be lanky and frail with the kind of brain he had.
As for preparation time, that was all George could count on. His preparations.
And even those were not enough to give him any confidence against N’bayé, let alone doing anything significant.
///
Up above, N’bayé looked on as George swung from one hanging rope to the other.
[Kael: His curiosity rises by the day.]
A flash of golden texts appeared at the corner of N’bayé’s vision.
[N’bayé: He is learning, but his logic has not yet been completed.
Such a being as he cannot be goaded into absolute loyalty.
He should come to the natural conclusion that submission is the only logical solution, not just to survival, but to everything.]
There was a pause. N’bayé looked at the chat page expectantly. She didn’t want her pride leader to leave her to read again.
[Kael: Why is it taking so long then?]
N’bayé could sense the expectations from the All-King. He wasn’t in a hurry, he just wanted to see some results.
It was a shame that the All-King couldn’t be here personally like he had planned. Things could have progressed a little faster then.
[N’bayé: He needs more time, Your Majesty. His logic has failed to catch up as fast as we thought but there is still time.]
[Kael: Time, I can spare, energy, I cannot.
The other Primordials have already gone past this stage of doubt and are already making unification attempts.
The wolves have made serious progress in forming a functioning large-scale galactic vassal state.
They are growing fast, thanks to Ralph.
The vultures are not far behind.
Every Primordial under me should be out there either finding a way to achieve Singularity or unifying their race under one vassal banner.
George is here, asking the meaning of life...]
Reading the texts, N’bayé couldn’t help but wear a wet smile.
What could she do, no one could force George, his mind was very delicate and in its formation period. He was still technically two years old.
What they were waiting for was George’s logic to catch up with the reality of things.
[N’bayé: Is there a way I can speed things up?]
[Kael: No, don’t bother, I’ll handle it later.]
[N’bayé: Your Majesty, all the god-alloys have been assembled and forged into the right proportions.
Shall we begin the next process?]
Another pause, this one longer. The All-King was factoring a new variable into his long-term plan.
[Kael: You may carry on.]
N’bayé smiled. Finally, she could experience the feeling of creating her first god-level artifact.
That Primordial Mole and Primordial Beaver that had been found had been very useful.
N’bayé then thought of something...
[N’bayé: Your Majesty, how long till you get back?]
[Kael: Is there something wrong?]
[N’bayé: No...]
She wanted to say to the All-King that she missed him. She wanted to tell him that she hated these online discussions and wanted to see him when he talked intellectually.
To her joy, her emotional willpower was exceedingly low and she ended up not saying anything.
[N’bayé: I just don’t want another loss within the Family, Your Majesty.]
To this, Kael did not reply. His favourite hunters, the wolves, had shifted his attention within the system and became his current priorities.
The wolf, Ralph, has been full of surprises.
