Chapter 356: Sixth Evolution (3)

Filled with a sense of hope for an even better evolution now that a good evolution outside of the second stage of her dreamscale dragon evolution had appeared, Scalyโ€™s attention shifted away from the mist dragon evolution towards the one below it.

[Silver Claw Dragon] ๐˜ง๐“‡๐‘’๐‘’๐‘คโ„ฏ๐‘๐“ƒ๐˜ฐ๐‘ฃโ„ฏ๐˜ญ.๐˜คโ„ด๐˜ฎ

[Requirement: Dragon Bloodline, lvl 4, Dragon Blood Purity 30%, Dragon Claw Strike Magic lvl 8, Strength 1000 or above, Dexterity 1000 or above]

[Description: The silver claw dragon is a unique dragon covered in beautiful silver scales that is difficult to find even inside dungeons because of how unlikely the evolution itself is among dragons, being even rarer than the dreamscale evolution. The uniqueness of this evolution does not mean that it is significantly stronger than other evolutions of a similar level, but more so means that it is a far more specialized evolution that focuses almost exclusively on enhancing the strengthening its claws.

As a result of this dedication to having the strongest and sharpest claws amongst all dragons of a similar level, is that the claws themselves are powerful enough to threaten someone far stronger than S Rank Monsters or Adventurers. Along with its fast speed, the silver claw dragon is considered one of the deadliest dragons of its level.

But, as a side effect of having the sharpest claws amongst any dragon its level, it has become a target for all adventurers throughout the world, as the claws of a silver claw dragon are amongst the finest materials for crafting a powerful sword capable of allowing S Rank Adventurers to contend with monsters far stronger than themselves.

Because of this, scholars studying the history of the silver claw dragons throughout the world believe that the reason for their lower population doesnโ€™t have much to do with the difficulty of the evolution itself, but more so the fact that it has been hunted close to extinction. Affecting other dragons in some unknown way that ultimately results in the evolution itself rarely emerging outside of specific dungeons.]

Not knowing what to think after she finished reading the description of the silver claw dragon evolution, Scaly was first happy with the clear power of this new evolution but was faced with a dilemma after realizing that taking the evolution would essentially end up painting a target on her back.

Although she was already being chased by a group of adventurers, she had a feeling that if she chose this evolution, there would be more than just one group of adventurers chasing after her. If she was unlucky, she might even end up with several adventurers above the S Rank chasing after her, something she wanted to avoid if possible.

With that in mind, she silently cut out the silver claw dragon as a potential evolution and continued down the still long list of evolutions...

[Great Winged Lizard]

[River Dragon]

[One-Clawed Dragon]

[Illusion Dragon]

[Blue Dragon]

Skimming through the next few entries that ultimately didnโ€™t look any stronger than the second stage of the dreamscale dragon or mist dragon evolution, until a potential contender finally emerged just before she gave up hope of finding another good evolution that didnโ€™t carry any inherent danger like the silver claw dragon evolution did.

[Dream Weaver Dragon]

[Requirement: Dragon Bloodline, lvl 3, Dragon Blood Purity 25%, Dream Magic lvl 5, Fear Resistance lvl 1, Magic 3000 or above]

[Description: Capable of weaving dreams into reality, the dream weaver dragon is amongst the rarest dragons within the dreamscape and canโ€™t be found outside the dreamscape under normal circumstances. Sharing a similar size as the dreamscale dragon, it often ends up being mistaken for the dreamscale dragon when encountered, a mistake that always ends up badly for those who find themselves unfortunate enough to encounter it.

The reason for this being that compared to the relatively shy and non-hostile dreamscale dragon that rarely attacks without being provoked, the dream weaver dragon is extremely territorial of the place that it claims as its own. Using dream magic to weave whatever its enemies fear the most into existence.

Normally, such a thing is impossible for a dragon of that level, but within the dreamscape, dream magic is significantly more powerful and allows the dream weaver dragon to wield power far beyond its level. Rumors have it that a dream weaver dragon above level 40 is an entity that even the demigods of the dreamscape avoid.]

Different from the other evolution that she only skimmed through, this was by far the evolution that promised the most strength after her evolution, as it even hinted at her being capable of scaring off a monster like the devourer of dreams.

The problem with this evolution was the fact that it was rather obvious that she would suffer some side effects outside the dreamscape. Meaning she would most likely end up being forced to remain inside the dreamscape until she went through her next evolution.

But maybe most critical of all was the fact that she would still need to hunt for monsters to eat... And with her size doubling, she had a feeling that this would end up becoming a problem over time inside the dreamscape. Especially if she ended up being forced to leave the floating continent at some point.

Still... Even with these negatives, the dream weaver dragon evolution was still worth her attention as a potential evolution because of how strong it would make her.

At the end of the day, her goal was to become stronger and even if it came with the negative of having to spend a bit longer looking for food than she already did, it was more than fine in her eyes. The main negative came from the fact that she likely wouldnโ€™t be able to take advantage of her newest escape method of moving between the dreamscape and the material plane after this evolution.

Not because it would be impossible to leave the dreamscape, but instead because of the clear weakened state she would be in after leaving the dreamscape... And if possible, she didnโ€™t want to place herself in a position where a potentially weaker monster or adventurer could do her in.

The thought of something like that happening being more than enough for her to reconsider choosing this evolution in the first place...
