Reincarnated as a Novel's Villain: Creator of Curses and Blessings-Chapter 34: You are sent to the illusion world
’’MOTHER FUC*ER!...I CURSE YOU’’ Carl screamed in fury, snatched the money card, and quickly got out of the tavern. He didn’t want to see Hector’s face for even one more second.
Hector just shrugged in amusement.
For the rest of the week, he continued clearing the green dungeon. Even though he couldn’t reach five mana cores, it still gave him a lot of hope when he looked at the system screen afterward.

’’It’s quite a shame that I can’t reach five mana cores, since the remaining time is just too short for me.’’
Hector sighed and dismissed the system screen. The next moment, he quickly prepared his clothes and weapons for the final exam tomorrow.
Then, he tried to recall the detailed plot of the final exam from the novel. Even if the plot might have changed, at least it would give him some confidence to rely on.
In order to take a seat in the top ten, he had to prepare thoroughly. If he failed, he would never be able to go to the Kingdom of Hayden to obtain an artifact to enhance his mana core potential.
The worst plot would be if he got stuck at the green mana core forever.
’’This is really stressful.’’
However, no matter what happened, he knew one thing: strength would handle everything.
Unfortunately, he had yet to reach the level of strength that would let him feel safe and at peace.
At the end of the night, Hector ate and took a bath and went to sleep.
Soon, the sun rose, announcing a harsh day for the students of the academy.
Hector blinked as he assessed the candidates list on the vast magical screen hanging in the middle of the broad yard, where all the students were gathering

700, Hector Jenkins /4 green mana cores.

1002, Grovel Hill /4 green mana cores

’’Shit! Did they only arrange the list based on the number of mana cores and old grades?’
Hector frowned as he studied it. With four mana cores, he was placed around the 700s. Though he wasn’t too bothered by the ranking, they still should’ve given him a better number.
He shrugged, then began to assess each name on the list.
’’Shit! She’s already reached nine mana cores?’’ He frowned as he glanced at the top of the list, Violet, then turned his attention further down.
’’Of course. They won’t just stand still and wait for me to catch them.’’
He could tell those bastards with powerful backgrounds would pick the best green dungeons to clear. It was obvious, considering how far their mana cores had already advanced.
As for Hector, even with Aharok’s help, keeping up with their speed of enhancing mana cores was still extremely difficult.
He studied the list again, trying to recall similar names he had read about in the novel, but it was mostly useless.
’’From now on, the knowledge in the novel is useless, I guess.’’ Hector sighed in disappointment.
Then, he looked up at the stage platform, where an old man was preparing to give his speech to the students.
Hector suddenly stiffened and gulped as he tried to sense the old man’s mana.
Damn. He couldn’t sense anything at all, as if the old man were just a corpse with no mana in it... like his father.
He was certain the old man had deliberately concealed his mana, which meant he had to be someone with a high level and status in the academy.
And the next moment, his curiosity—and most of the students’—was answered when the old man spoke.
"Greetings to the precious raw gems. My name is Grey Ryan... I’m the principal of this academy, so there’s no need to check me."
His gentle voice spread across the broad yard, warning curious students who were trying to sense his mana cores.
A smile was written on his wrinkled face as he continued.
"As usual, the academy will organize the final exam for first-year students... And I guess you all understand what kind of circumstances you must face... pass or be expelled."
"I’m not threatening anyone, but this world is harsh. Once you leave the safe zone, the truth will kill you."
The old man’s eyes gleamed with a heavy hint as he weighed his voice down.
"For anyone who wants to reach the peak of mankind, just use all your effort to survive our challenge. Though it won’t guarantee everything, I can make sure you’ll be stronger."
"Understand?"
The principal nodded and glanced at the vice principal.
The vice principal, Ivory Loxley, nodded quietly and spoke up.
"All candidates on the list, please head to the academy’s preparation hall. Each of you will have a sleeping chamber. Pick one and rest."
He added, "Don’t be surprised or worried about the sleeping chambers. They’re connected to the academy’s black-tier items. You will be sent to an illusion world to carry out the final exam."
"You’ll learn the rules of the final exam once you arrive there."
***
Just like that, Hector and the other students headed to the academy’s preparation hall.
Hector blinked and quickly lay down in a random sleeping chamber.
"Hope luck’s on my side." But when he thought about his stats, he corrected himself. "No... just hope I don’t run into too much bad luck."
