Chapter 51: An Advertisement

Ezekiel jumped lightly, as though warming up his body, unconcerned about the massive threat approaching him.

Edward didn’t hesitate. His body shot forward, his feet smashing against the ground as he closed the distance at breakneck speed, his claws lunging with lethal precision.

Yet the mechanic moved as though he had already predicted the attack. He twisted aside at the last second, deftly avoiding the deadly claws before a compressed burst of azure erupted at his feet, launching him backward and instantly widening the gap between them.

Edward clicked his tongue. He had lost that exchange. Anticipating a counterattack, he tensed every muscle in his body in an attempt to defend. Any normal opponent would have capitalized on his brief disorientation.

Yet Ezekiel simply cleared his throat before a faint hum followed as he activated the inbuilt speaker installed within his Windchasers.

The audience displayed dumbfounded expressions as they listened to his light cough, realizing that there hadn’t been any infusion of mana needed to generate such a loud noise that could reach every part of the audience’s stands.

Ezekiel smirked before hopping lightly once more.

"I’d like to introduce you all..."

Before the echoes of his loud voice could dissipate, a line of azure energy appeared once more, ending at the feet of Ezekiel who had in such a short time appeared behind Edward with a calm and carefree expression before he kicked out, sending the werewolf flying before he crashed onto the ground, forcing him to use his claws to attempt to reduce his inertia. "... To my creation, Windchasers."

Edward’s lips twitched violently. "You fu—" 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

He was cut off by another kick aimed at his ribs.

It was only then he realized that Ezekiel had once more appeared behind him. "How—?!"

A soft chuckle answered him.

But the mechanic cut short his words once more, this time by chuckling and speaking out, letting his words reach the astonished audience. "These bad boys are the magic behind my breakneck speed just now." As he spoke, he even raised a leg, allowing the see the knee reaching mechanical boot more clearly.

Of course, every student watching were all Awakened who possessed extraordinary senses, allowing them to easily examine the equipment Ezekiel wore even from their position. But his action was more of a cue to promote them to focus even more on the boots. And it worked.

"Huh? Is that a relic?"

"Enchanted equipment doesn’t look like that..."

"Do Enchanted equipments even look like that? It looks more like a construct."

"But how is it that fast with so little mana consumption? More importantly, how is he able to make it work without channeling any mana into it?"

Murmurs spread through the stands.

Upon noticing their attention, Ezekiel smiled even wider. "These boots are capable of a lot of things. These boots offer enhanced mobility, reinforced durability, and—"

"You bastard!!!" Edward roared in outrage as he charged forward, dismissing all his apprehension after having realized that the teenager before him was treating him as an advertising opportunity!

He was being used as a demonstration.

Yet his attack was for naught as Ezekiel simply leaped to the sky and the crowd watched in amazement as he was sustained in midair by a constant burst of azure energy that emanated from the soles of his boots. "...Short term flight."

Gasps erupted across the arena.

The mechanic weaved around the air while leisurely avoiding Edward’s attack, his attention still on the audience before him. "The best feature of my creation is that its battery feature! My Windchasers can allow its owners store their mana in advance and not worry about mana expenditure during a battle!"

Ezekiel’s words grabbed even more attention by that point. After all, any experienced Awakened could easily infer that the one of the most deciding factors of battle was still mana expenditure. Any Awakened would be on the moon if they were able to procure Enchanted equipment that boosted their mana recovery.

The Windchasers created by the student before them might not be able to boost their mana recovery but having that mana storing feature as well as the obvious speed enhancement made a lot of them tempted.

Not to mention that, before the C rank, Awakened were unable to fly! Spells that allowed flight would only be accessible by C rank Mages, Enchanted equipment that did the same consumed too much mana as did Spell scrolls.

Flying, even for a short while, was the dream of all low-level Awakened! Especially those who had been stuck at the cusp of C rank for a long while!

Temptation flickered across countless eyes.

Glancing at the hovering teenager before them, they couldn’t stop their lips from twitching. This kid seemed more capable at presenting his products than actual salesmen themselves.

All in all, Ezekiel’s advertisement could be considered a success as it allowed the massive audience to watch him display the authenticity of his inventions before them. The mechanic smirked upon seeing this, knowing that his first act was a success. "Any student interested can contact me on the NexusHub. My inventions have already been granted a patent by the Institute and our trade will be completed with the Institute as a witness."

From this, those listening could infer that the teenager was also very cool headed, having made sure to ensure his safety while selling his groundbreaking inventions, easily making sure that nobody would try to cheat him.

Below, Edward’s rage boiled over.

"How dare you humiliate me, you filthy bastard!!!"

Edward’s cry reverberated once more, earning multiple pitiful sighs from the audience as they realized that he had been made into a practical test dummy.

The noble didn’t care about anything anymore. He merely wished to wipe off the constant smirk on Ezekiel’s face. Mana surged out of his body and coated his claws before he lunged upwards, sending five streaks of energy through the air as they aimed to tear his opponent apart.

Ezekiel dodged as easily as before, the azure energy at his soles trailing behind him before he suddenly dashed downwards while unsheathing a simple short sword and slashing at Edward’s body.

A clang sound emanated from the point of contact between the sword and the noble son’s fur, as though the thin pin-like fur possessed the durability of a well forged armor.

"Did you think that weak piece of metal could bypass my defense?" Edward smirked, his voice laced with disdain as he twisted his body while aiming a powerful punch at Ezekiel’s head.

The mechanic reacted calmly, his senses forged after the continuous months of crazed training, and smacked the punch away, deftly redirecting the force behind the attack with his gauntlet covered arms—though it was unknown when he had gotten the time to don the piece of equipment.

His other arm delivered a counter that met with the werewolf’s abdomen, the tip of the gauntlet’s knuckles swiftly contracting then piston-fired outward forward, sending a burst of force that rippled inward upon impact into the latter’s body, damaging his internal organs and sending him flying while he spat out blood.

Ezekiel then clenched and unclenched his gauntlet covered fist before glancing at Edward’s dark face with an amused and carefree expression. "Now, onto the next item."

Listening to those words, the students listening felt an even greater sense of pity as they glanced at the downtrodden Edward as he gritted his teeth, his face dark with anger and humiliation as he climbed to his feet once more.
