Reincarnated in the Royal Family with a Plunder System-Chapter 44: Too reckless
Chapter 44: Too reckless
Ryan and Seraphina stretched their bodies in the gym, both in form-fitting black martial robes. Today was another day of their monster training plan—and it had started already.
Unlike Seraphina, who had a stoic expression on her face, Ryan had excitement written all over him.
He could see some small bits of muscle definition.
It was barely visible but it was progress.
"What skill am I going to Plunder today?" He asked.
"Today, we will be conducting an experiment." She touched the back of her own neck. "Let’s start."
"Oh..." Ryan’s eyes lit up. "What kind of experiment?"
Seraphina did not answer. Instead, she sat down on the floor in the lotus position and placed both her palms under her belly button.
"I am about to have a breakthrough in my Martial Artist class, and I will be a bit muddle headed after that. Not only me, but the Heavens around me will also loosen—I want you to try and use Plunder Sucker on the Heavens just after I breakthrough."
Ryan blinked. "You are going to breakthrough? To level 27?"
Seraphina nodded calmly. "I am a level 26 mage and martial artist. But now, I will be having a breakthrough in Martial Artist class—that will take me to level 27 in the martial path."
"Damn, a 16 year old at level 27 is crazy!"
Seraphina’s silver eyes glowed with pride. "Don’t compare me to the weaklings my age. My goal is to surpass the adults before I myself become one. Anyway, shut up and observe—I am going to have an epiphany and break through."
Ryan nodded.
She closed her eyes and fell into meditation.
Breaking through in the martial path is much simpler than breaking through in the mage path, she pondered. I am more talented in the martial path.
For the martial path, one simply had to train their body to its absolute limit—and then break through the said limit. Doing so would awaken the Martial Vein within their body, allowing them to draw energy from the heavens and grow stronger by absorbing it.
That was the way Martial Artist class trained and levelled up.
Seraphina had recently reached that threshold. Though it looked like she was slacking off while teaching Ryan, the truth was quite the opposite. Every afternoon, she trained with her own mentor, Master Maya, in a different gym—pushed to her limits day after day.
That’s why, she was confident in breaking through in the martial path today.
But the Mage class seemed as if it was blocked.
She had reached a limit.
The road ahead was hidden in opaque fog.
Can I somehow breakthrough in both of the classes right now?
That thought couldn’t help but make her a bit ambitious.
Yet, even after she tried pondering a way out of the opaque fog—the fog did not lift.
She gritted her teeth.
Mages needed to choose one elemental affinity when they receive their first subclass. And Seraphina chose soul element affinity. And now, in theory, as long as she understood more things about the soul itself, she could change that understanding into her own mage arts.
More runes for her to improve her mage level.
But the Soul Affinity was infamous for how hard it was to learn anything regarding it.
I should have chosen the fire affinity, she thought. I am said to be very talented in that aspect.
But she had chosen the soul affinity for Ryan. To help him fix his soul. Yet, now—that choice was no longer so important. Ryan had already healed himself.
My mind is not calm. I am wandering. How do I break through?
Cold steam began to rise from her body.
Ryan could see thin veins through her fair skin.
What is the soul?
Ryan’s image appeared in her mind.
Goofy, funny, stupid.
Caring, emotional, and talented behind all his tomfoolery.
Her brother who she shared soul itself with.
What is Ryan’s soul like? Is the soul just part of the physical body, like another hidden organ, or is it something more than life itself?
What is the soul?
She thought about the difference between the old Ryan and the current one.
Now, he could train. When he had a wounded soul, he could not.
Why was that?
Because a wounded soul does not have the capability to grow any of the necessary talents. Martial Vein, Spirit Root, Divine Instinct, or Golden Heart. All of those special talents require a full soul to develop.
What was the use of these special bodily talents?
Seraphina’s heart quickened.
The use of those special talents was to allow a mortal to communicate with the Heavens.
Then, was the soul the bridge between heaven and man?
The mathematics she had learned recently flickered through her mind.
All living beings were born as level 0.
Not 1.
But 0.
And the level 1 happens when they are acknowledged by the Heavens.
And the special talents like Martial Veins were the sign of this acknowledgement.
Then, if humans were nothing but 0.
If their lives did not amount to anything—the only thing that gave innate value to a living being was their soul. And what was their soul if not a person’s connection to something that was the exact opposite of zero?
Infinity.
Heavens were infinite, man was nothing.
And soul—soul connected the nothing with the infinite. Soul gave the zero the power to chase after and grow closer to infinity.
Then soul was a living being’s singular worth.
Their beauty did not matter. Their riches did not matter. Their power did not matter.
Only the soul shined.
Only the soul could help a Man become Heaven.
Seraphina’s silver eyes snapped open.
What was the soul?
Soul was the only path to transcendence.
Fire path?
No.
That path was not even worth a candle when placed against the pathway of understanding the soul.
After all, only the soul could take one to infinity.
All other paths could not reach the apex.
Ryan watched her from the side.
He took a deep breath in as the air surrounding Seraphina suddenly flowed towards her with incredible momentum. She breathed in, her body first feeling heavy for a second before it became light.
She had become a Level 27 Martial Artist.
Silver Runes became visible across her skin and even eyes, the runes representing her newly transformed martial body.
Then, her surroundings began to hum with a peculiar soul stirring energy.
A singular rune the size of a palm appeared in front of her forehead.
Her forehead brightened as 26 runes appeared out of it.
The newly arrived rune moved towards the other 26 and they fused together.
Then, all the runes returned back into her forehead.
She exhaled.
She had gained a new Soul related Mage Art: The Heaven’s Chosen.
It was a great skill.
One of the best skills in her repertoire—it made her naturally attract good fortune towards her. If something good was going to happen, she would naturally end up near it.
Ryan did not wait and raised his palm towards the air itself. His heart beat wildly as he turned Plunder Sucker right on.
An abyss opened up inside him.
An abyss that wanted to swallow everything in its path.
Immediately, the air shook.
Lightning flickered across the gym out of nowhere.
Coldness wrapped around Ryan.
If he was the Abyss, the Heavens were the beast that swallowed the abyss itself.
A pair of eyes seemed to stare back at him.
Ryan paled.
Fear thrummed through him.
He had the urge to immediately bow down and beg for mercy.
But then, he gritted his teeth.
All good main characters always went against the Heavens. Why can’t he do the same?
Absorb man. Absorb heaven.
Blood burst out of all of Ryan’s orifices.
His body was blasted back against the wall, bleeding profusely.
Seraphina’s expression changed. In a second, she was by his side.
"Are you alright?"
His bloody face arced as he smiled with pure white teeth.
He had not gained any new Skills from the reckless absorption.
Yet—
One of his pre-existing skills had suddenly evolved into another skill.

A man who went against heaven was one abandoned by the world.
The Heaven’s Outcast.
Yet, if the man still dared to defy all odds and stand up straight. If he still had the courage to steal from the heavens themselves—then he was neither heaven nor man, then he was a Predator.
A Plunderer.
New Skill:
Heavenly Plunder.
