Alexia went and sat down on his seat on the other side of the kitchen island and adjusted his seat so that he would be able to reach the top of the table.

"Ok, take this and mix them how I taught you"

She handed him a bowl and some ingredients.

"Mom, is it true that if Dad was alive the world would be much safer now?"

Cindy abruptly stopped cutting some vergies and looked at Alexia.

"Baby where did you get that from. Also your Uncle Mat is in the front line fight the big bad monsters"

Trying to divert the conversation away from Alex.

"They were teaching us about his exploits at school. Unlike Uncle Mat, Dad appeared to care more about the people. I don’t like Uncle Mat, He creeps me out"

Cindy listened while her hand was slowly moving the knife on the vergies. Her head hung down trying not to let her Son see her reddened eyes.

"Mom, I had a dream that Dad came back and saved the world like he always did"

Cindy quickly wiped her eyes and looked at her son.

"When did you have this dream baby"

"Last night, but Dad didn’t look like the dad I saw in the pictures. He looked more scary now and powerful"

Alex spoke as he was mixing the ingredients, not paying attention to the faces his mother was making.

"But also he seemed upset, like something bad happened to him. I woke up crying as if I could feel the pain in his heart mom"

Alexia looked at his mother, this time the happy child’s face was replaced with sadness.

"Mom, do you think if Dad was alive he would come for me. I want to make him not be sad anymore"

Cindy put down everything and ran around the island counter and warmly hugged her child.

Cindy said as tears streamed down her face. Running the make up she had on.

Back at the settlement, Mike, Miley and Mildred had turned in their mission and got some reward.

"Only three thousand points, I risked my life so this chump change. I should have stayed home"

"Stop your whining Mike. You can finally get that shockwave theory book you’ve been saving for. With it you might make it to level 29 and surpass Mildred for once"

The three were walking in the military base corridor. Then suddenly an influx of soldiers came running past them without even greeting.

"Think something happened?"

Just as Miley was about to answer him his connector pinged a message.

"Urgent, Come to the briefing room now"

That’s all it said. Then Mike and Mildread’s connectors rang as well with a similar message.

"I guess we are about to find out"

They quickly made their way to the briefing room. Once they got there, the room was packed. There were other Junior Jumpers in there. Then followed by senior jumpers. Officer Jumpers then lastly 80% of the huge room were regular soldiers.

They went to the side and sat next to the other Junior Jumpers like them. More came after them. Turning the place into a packed sardine can. After some time General Malkov entered. He walked in slowly. Each step felt by the room. By the time he reached the podium, the entire place was silent. Only occasional cleansing of the throat.

Everyone stood in attention as soon as he put the documents on top of the podium.

"At ease!"

He opened the first page on the Document.

"As you all know, 10 years ago something massive happened that put the world in a soup of danger. A seal was broken and still we do not know who broke it or perhaps it was the next stage of world conscious evolution.

But one thing is certain. Whatever broke out of there is currently hiding, now we have a huge portal that is constantly dispensing the fallen and we are losing a lot of good soldiers by the minute.

I wish to have set up this emergency meeting to give you some wonderful news, but unfortunately you can’t put emergency and good news in the same context. The reason I called you here is because it appears that there might be an increase in portals opening.

We got word from other settlements that, there have been an attack from an organised group of Fallen"

The entire room echoed by the collective gasp. It was common knowledge that the falling that are currently roaming the wilderness are moving about aimlessly without intent or goal. Just like a wild animal only living on its instincts. But unlike a wild animal. A fallen is a war machine if it gained intelligence and knew how to use its strength to its advantage, their Jobs would be exponentially harder.

"My thought exactly, for some reason there is a special kind capable of coordinating the fallen, this would mean something might have happened, The seal might still be in the process of breaking and this is still the early stages. Humanity has broken through the Lv 99 Mark 10 years ago, we thought we have reached the pinnacle of existence.

Little did we know that, it was just the first step to really becoming a true Jumper. So let’s work hard to grow strong and to weather the storm. As of now we are in a state of an emergency, expect an attack to come for us at any moment. So I and the senior officer will create a defensive plan. I want all squads to be on the ready at all time."

The tension in the room was high, The difficulty just turned into 11 and no one has ever fought a coordinated fallen attack before.

"That’s it for now. Please go to the mission room after this, there has been an increase of fallen activity around the settlement so we need it weed them out before they group, You are dismissed"

When everyone got out no one said a word. Once they were at a good distance Mike started.

"Has things gotten to this point? It is as though we are fighting an uphill battle and nothing we do is enough. I wonder how things would be if he were still alive?"

Both Miley and Mikdred looked at each other then looked at Mike.

"Who are you talking about?"

"Alex Constentine of course. The person who pioneered the way for jumpers. People used to fear turning into Jumpers till he came and showed them how being a jumper could change the world. And his power, I can’t believe a human once had connection with such a mistica."

When the two heard him speak all they could do is shake their heads. They knew it was impossible for the dead to come back to life

A portal opened in a far mountainous region. No life for quite a distance. Out from the portal walked out Mat. The moment he stepped out he saw a legion of soldiers pointing weapons towards him.

"Jumper you have entered restricted premises, We advice you to return where you come from"

"Well well well, you guys are new. It would seem Moulug is doing well for himself. Please call him out and tell him an old friend is here to visit"

When the legion heard how casually the newcomer spoke the name of their ruler they became livid.

"You dare speak so casually the name of his eminence... you deserve death. Brothers take down this intruder"

When the legion of gray skinner soldiers with only eyes on the face charged their spear like weapons with energy ready to take down Mat. He wasn’t amused by the disrespect.

"YOU DARE!!!"

A strong pressure came raining down on the troupe, The once strong army was laying down, Unable to move a limb. Mat’s Aura was that of a person who broke past Lv 99. The aura becomes a tool once you break the 99th barrier.

"Is this how you visit? Without so much as a notice you just come unannounced and expect them to know you? Don’t forget jumper Mat, this is not Ethia, nobody has heard of you"

Moulug came out with his hands behind his back. Walking gracefully like a ruler.

Moulug didn’t reply. He stopped at the door and gestured to Mat to follow him.

"My current position is of no importance. I have been expecting you"

Mat was surprised to hear that. The last time he and Moulug interacted was around 9 years, back when they were breaking the seal.
