Reincarnated With An SSS-Rank Talent In An Apocalyptic World-Chapter 101: A Losing Battle & A New Task
Chapter 101: A Losing Battle & A New Task
BANG!
As the final word echoed, a spear of jagged blue light tore from the cloud. Piercing through the magic array, the lightning turned golden as it sped toward the first Kahut at the forefront!
BANG!
The beast screamed, but even its scream was drowned under the loud roaring of thunder. Its thick red fur was charred black. But the terror was far from over, as the golden lightning did the unexpected.
It leapt from the original target and struck the second Kahut, before jumping to the third.
Again.
And again.
But it didn’t end with the Kahuts. Once all four were reduced to burnt meat, the lightning went for the orcs, tearing through their ranks as it reduced them to burnt stakes one after the other.
With each impact, a new scream echoed across the battlefield.
With each arc, the scent of scorched blood rose to the heavens.
Righteous, Kenza, and even the soldiers and Ascendants behind us drew sharp breaths at the horrifying sight. As one spell not only slaughtered four mighty beasts—it had reduced over a thousand orcs to burnt offerings.
However, there was a flaw I noticed with my discerning eyes.
"The lightning grows weaker with every new target," I said with narrowed eyes, and many faces snapped in my direction. "This won’t be enough."
Ding!

[Save the forces of the Solinthar Empire and gain their gratitude. They will be relevant in your plans to conquer the rest of the world.]
The mission from the system confirmed my fears, and it soon showed on the battlefield when the golden lightning faded.
The stench of burning flesh filled the air as the human soldiers cheered at the top of their lungs, but there was no cheering in the back lines. The robed man in the forefront nearly fell off his horse if not for the timely intervention of his bannermen.
The other two robed figures were breathing heavily and rested on their horses for support. Clearly, they couldn’t cast the spell a second time—and there were still over five thousand orcs left, most of which were beast riders.
BWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
The sound of the second horn ended the human soldiers’ cheers, as it finally dawned on them that one more Kahut remained on the battlefield—and it carried the strongest of the orc horde.
From the ugly smile on the face of the orc, I believe this was his plan all along: to force the human warlocks to cast their spells and tire themselves before the final charge.
Thud!
The earth trembled under the heavy steps of the last Kahut, and this time it was the entire orc army charging forward with it.
Alililililililili!
Animal sounds filled the air as the riders took the lead, their wolves running on scorched corpses like they were nothing—while the orc leading the charge remained seated on his throne, watching his Kahut trample some of his own men who were too slow and still refused to make way.
The human army was shaken, and their shield bearers trembled at the sight of thousands of orcs alongside a Kahut charging at them. With this sight alone, it was clear the battle had been lost. All that was left was witnessing the slaughter.
"Kenza..." I turned to her, and she instantly turned in my direction, confused as to why I would call her at a time like this.
Slowly, I raised my hands and gently held both her cheeks, turning her face red instantly.
"Y-YES?" she stuttered in an unnaturally high voice.
I could feel Righteous’s cold glare behind me, but Frankenstein didn’t even bother to look at us.
"Let’s save the humans," I said.
Buzz!
I felt everyone shiver under my words, including Kenza. She stepped away from my hand with her face lowered for a moment, to recollect her thoughts before she looked me in the eye.
"Are you stupid or something?" Righteous snapped first. "Do you think they’re allies or something?" he hissed, but I didn’t even bother to look at him.
My attention was on the person in control of the fifty Ascendant troops dispatched for this expedition.
"He’s right," Kenza said. "How sure are we that they won’t turn on us after we help them?"
"Who is more likely to kill us? Orcs or humans?" I asked.
Buzz!
Kenza frowned, and Frankenstein finally looked my way with a thoughtful graze.
"Motherfucker, our primary goal is to defend the rift until it’s ready to close. Even if we don’t get resources from this place, as long as we keep the rift secured, it’s a win for us!" Righteous yelled from behind.
I couldn’t understand why this midget has failed to realize I’m ignoring him on purpose.
Sadly, Kenza nodded at his words, and Frankenstein looked away, returning his gaze to the battlefield. I couldn’t understand what was going through that man’s head—but none of that matters now.
"I understand." I smiled and turned to the Ascendants.
Swoosh!
Black fog escaped my body, forming a massive gate near the rift from which the two vans fell out, landing softly on their tires.
"What are you doing?" Kenza was confused as to why I would bring out the supply trucks stored within my domain.
But I wasn’t in a rush to answer. I took off my trench coat, and with one swing I draped it over her shoulder, gently adjusting the collars while she gazed at my face in confusion.
"From here on out, I will act independently," I said, and her eyes dilated in shock. Frankenstein’s gaze returned to me—but with a small frown. "Your supplies are here. So you shouldn’t have any problems watching over the rift for as long as it takes."
I turned and was about to take a step forward, but Kenza held my hand.
"Wait... this is not a decision you should make in haste!" she pleaded, but I just smiled at her and gently pulled my hand away.
"They don’t have much time," I said, and she returned her gaze to the battlefield—only to see the human shield wall had fallen to the orc horde.
"But..." she gasped, but Righteous’s loud voice cut her off.
"BASTARD, YOU ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE!"
His longsword pressed against my throat, but I only chuckled while my eyes turned pitch black.
"If I want to leave, not even God can stop me!" I said without even acknowledging his presence.
"Put the sword away!" Kenza yelled at him, while my smile widened into a crazed grin and black cracks spread across my eyelids.
[Berserk Mode Activated]
[Blood Ignition Activated]
BOOM!
A pillar of dark fumes erupted from my body, knocking both of them aside.
Bang!
I shot out of the hill in a body of darkness, shooting toward the orc horde with raging crimson eyes!
