REINCARNATION OF THE STRONGEST WAR HERO-Chapter 298: The Long Family Head Arrives
This time, Logan focused on every single detail.
The shift in the air caused by a bird's wings beating above him… The subtle change in temperature whenever a living creature entered his range… The faintest rustle of insects hidden beneath charred roots…
The more he concentrated, the clearer everything became.
At first, he could only feel the changes.
But slowly, he began to understand them.
From the way the air moved, he could tell where an object was. From each sound, he could tell what the creature was doing.
From its warmth, he could sense whether it was big or small.
Hours passed like drifting smoke.
As it was late in the night, Logan was forced to return home. However, the very next morning, he returned and resumed his training.
His comprehension sharpened with every passing second.
Until...
He felt something.
Someone approaching.
No… not someone. One! Two! Three!
Three distinct presences.
Logan slowly opened his eyes and turned his head toward the direction from which the newcomers were coming. He then stood up, sheathed Audrey, and waited calmly for them.
Soon, the three figures entered his line of sight.
It was the same girl and the same young man from before. But this time, they were accompanied by another figure — an elderly man with an aura far deeper, far heavier.
The family head of the Long Family.
They approached until they stood directly in front of Logan.
"So, you're back again," Logan said when they came close.
"Yes," Xiao replied quickly. "Our family head has personally come to meet you. Bow before him and show respect."
His tone was arrogant, bolstered by having the family head beside him. He truly believed Logan wouldn't dare act like before.
"Bow before him?" Logan repeated casually. "He might be your family head, not mine."
"You! How dare y...."
Xiao was about to erupt, but the old man simply raised his hand. Instantly, Xiao fell silent.
The old man's gaze remained gentle as he spoke.
"What is your name, young master?"
"Young master?!" Xiao blurted out in disbelief. "Master, why are you addressing him like that? I know he's talented and awakened the special ability, but that doesn't mean he's above you..."
The old man turned and shot him a single glare.
Xiao's words died instantly. His face turned pale. He dared not utter another sound.
After that, the old man turned back to Logan again, waiting for a response.
Logan watched them quietly for a moment, as if deciding whether answering was worth his time. Finally, he spoke. "Shouldn't you introduce yourself first?" he said flatly. "Why should I go around telling strangers who I am? And what exactly is your purpose for coming to me?"
Xiao's jaw tightened in anger. Chianxu also looked visibly irritated — she couldn't bear seeing their revered family head spoken to so casually.
But the old man didn't seem offended at all.
Instead, he smiled apologetically. "Ah, where are my manners? I am Huang Long, family head of one of the Five Spirit Families — the Long Family. And I'm here for a very important reason… to guide you on the path you are meant to walk, since you possess the ability to inherit the Golden Dragon's Legacy."
"Golden Dragon's Legacy?" Logan's eyes narrowed. "That's the second time I've heard that term. They mentioned it as well. But I don't remember having anything to do with… this legacy you're talking about." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"You wouldn't," Huang Long replied. "But we do. Our families have existed for hundreds of thousands of years. Even before dungeons appeared, we rarely interfered with anything happening outside our lands. And once the dungeons emerged, we isolated ourselves completely — to preserve our lineage, and to ensure that when someone eventually awakened the legacy, we would be there to guide him. To tell him what he is meant to do."
Logan frowned. "Honestly, I'm not understanding anything you're saying."
"That is natural," the old man said kindly. "It's a lot to take in at once. To understand the Golden Dragon's Legacy, you must first understand who the Golden Dragon was. You must learn the history of Earth… and the purpose behind its existence."
Logan blinked. "The purpose of Earth's existence?"
"Yes," Huang Long said, his expression turning solemn.
"Then you can start explaining already," Logan said. "If I feel I can trust you, I'll consider going with you."
"That may be… difficult," Hueng replied slowly. "The Evil Spirit Families are on their way as well. Since you killed three of their members, they are out for blood. They intend to use you to access the Upper Heavens — and then kill you. Initially, they wanted to recruit you into their family, but after you slaughtered their people, that option no longer exists."
"Upper Heavens?" Logan's brows knit tightly. The more he heard, the less sense anything made.
"Yes. The Upper Heavens," the old man repeated. "There is much you do not know. So come with us, and allow us to guide you — help you grow stronger, and show you the path you are destined to walk."
"But why should I trust you?" Logan countered. "What if you are trying to trap me, just like those Evil Spirit Families?"
"Trap you?" Hueng Long shook his head firmly. "I wouldn't dare, young master. If we truly had ulterior motives, why would I waste time trying to convince you? Please don't mistake my words for arrogance — I am merely stating the truth. You are destined for great things… but at this moment, you are still far too weak. You are only a Martial Saint, while I am a Martial Sovereign. Even with magic, you would not stand a chance against me."
He spoke humbly, without the slightest trace of condescension, as if he were simply stating an objective fact.
"Martial So vereign?" Logan frowned. "I thought Martial Emperor was the peak."
"Martial Emperor is the peak?" Hueng let out a soft breath. "No, young master. Not even close. True cultivation does not even begin until one steps into immortality."
"Immortality?!" Logan's head spun. The information was coming too fast, too heavy, too absurd — yet something in the old man's tone made it impossible to dismiss.
