Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Still Not Over Him?

Upon hearing the famous name "Noah Grant," Kane Crowe paused mid-puff on his cigarette, and Jasper Crowe also looked towards Ian Kane.

The strength and background of the Grant and Crowe families are evenly matched, each holding their own ground, never crossing paths or harboring any grievances.

So, Noah Grant wasn’t coming for the Crowe Family.

Kane Crowe blew out a ring of smoke. "What’s this young master’s plan? Seeking justice for those shareholders? Naïve."

When capital comes into the world, every pore drips with blood and filthy things.

Is Second Young Master Grant not even as good as a high school student?

Jasper Crowe looked at Ian Kane through the blue-white smoke, the corners of his mouth curling into a mischievous smile.

Ian Kane spoke bluntly, "Uncle Crowe, he’s coming for me."

Kane Crowe raised an eyebrow, "Oh?"

Jasper Crowe leaned in close to his father, his voice playful, "Father, it’s a love feud, for the sake of Mrs. Ian."

Kane Crowe was momentarily stunned, then burst into laughter, tapping the ash from his cigarette, he teased, "So it’s all for a beauty in the end."

"That Noah Grant is quite the romantic; I did not expect that."

Ian Kane picked up his teacup, slowly skimming the tea leaves as he spoke, "Uncle Crowe, this is a private matter; I can handle it privately with him. Moreover, my wife is loyal to me... Noah Grant is meddling in business, affecting both our interests."

Kane Crowe, "Ian, I’ll talk to Dean Grant later and have him give that romantic a little warning."

Ian Kane sipped his tea without saying more.

Soon it was mealtime, and the Crowe family father and son hosted a grand banquet for Ian Kane, showing their sincerity and importance towards him.

At the banquet, Kane Crowe introduced him to the assembled party members, "Ian is accomplished at a young age and a commercial genius. Under his management, the Crowe family’s capital has multiplied several times over these years, making him my most important partner."

"In the future, seeing him is like seeing me. I don’t want to see another Warren Vaughn!"

A few middle-aged men nodded repeatedly, toasting Ian Kane one by one.

"President Kane may be the heir of The Kane Family, but he practically started from scratch, and for that, I have great admiration."

"Let’s not mention that senile Chairman Kane; President Kane, with President Crowe’s support, your future is limitless!"

Ian Kane used tea in place of alcohol to return the toasts, not touching a drop of alcohol.

All those flattering words, he just listened to them.

Kane Crowe was praising him today because he was valuable to him.

Tomorrow, if he loses his value, he would just be a scapegoat.

He carefully sipped his monkey head mushroom and pork tripe soup.

He remembered that Vera Sheridan often made this soup for him before.

"Jasper, drink a little less." Beside him, Kane Crowe advised Jasper Crowe, his tone laced with fatherly concern.

"I have Ian taking care of the Crowe family’s capital, and it was Jasper who recognized his talent and strongly recommended Ian’s lithium battery project to me when they were still in school."

Upon hearing this, Ian Kane paused slightly in his act of scooping soup, looking up to see the father-son harmony of the Crowe family.

Kane Crowe personally served Jasper Crowe a bowl of soup.

Jasper Crowe grinned, "Thanks, Old Man, I’ll stop drinking, you all relax."

The others immediately flattered this heir, adored by thousands.

Ian Kane, his Adam’s apple bobbing, set down his spoon, pulled out a cigarette, and lit it with a furrow, taking several puffs.

In his ear, a faint sound of a young boy’s desperate cry for help was accompanied by a cold, disdainful reprimand: "You know it’s your brother’s birthday today, yet you lie to seek attention. Get lost!"

"Kane, what are you spacing out for?" Jasper Crowe nudged Ian Kane with his elbow. Seeing Ian’s face turn pale, he quickly removed the cigarette, his tone sinking a notch, "Has your stomach ulcer flared up again?"

Ian Kane took the cigarette, extinguished it, and a hint of smugness crossed his lips, "No, I just miss my wife." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Jasper Crowe scoffed lightly, "Showing off to me, are you?"

"I’m not that romantic Noah Grant."

Back then, after Vera refused him three times, he gave up, not wanting to trouble her any further.

In their circle, marriage was a means to consolidate power, and if the girl couldn’t be married, she was just something to play with.

Ian Kane said nothing, continuing to drink his soup.

Unbeknownst to him, right at that moment, the wife he called dearly was selling "The Glimmer Garden," which he had spent two years building for her.

Accompanied by a real estate agent, Vera Sheridan went to a hidden private garden residence in the bustling city.

They were there to meet the mysterious buyer daring enough to purchase "The Glimmer Garden" and sign the transfer documents, which a lawyer would handle on her behalf later.

In May’s rainy season in Ardendale, it was sticky and hot.

She limped along the winding corridors, where lotus buds just peeked out, and koi swam beneath the jade-green waves.

They entered the main house and, led by a middle-aged maid, arrived at the study in the northwest corner.

"Miss Sheridan, our gentleman is inside waiting for you."

"He only wishes to see you. Just take the documents inside."

Vera Sheridan frowned, looking towards the agent.

"Miss Sheridan, the client wishes to keep their identity hidden. Shall I wait for you at the door?"

She hesitated but eventually nodded.

The maid opened the door for her, "Please, Miss."

As Vera Sheridan stepped over the threshold, a scent of ink and paper filled her nostrils.

The interior was classically furnished.

The outer room was empty.

Antique vases were displayed on rosewood shelves against one wall, while a set of Hainan rosewood sofa and low table, in the simple style of the Ming Dynasty, occupied the other side.

She peered through a carved divider towards the inner room, "Excuse me, is anyone there?"

"Come in." A familiar, deep and magnetic male voice sounded.

Vera Sheridan’s eyes widened.

That voice...

Hugging the document folder, she walked in.

The architecture, reminiscent of the past, emphasized shadow beauty.

No windows were open in the inner room, making the lighting dim and secretive.

In the farthest corner, a table lit by a lantern-like lamp cast a hazy glow over a man’s chiselled and profoundly handsome face.

Vera Sheridan’s breath hitched.

It was indeed Noah Grant.

He was the one buying The Glimmer Garden.

In a departure from his usual suit and tie, he wore an off-white, mandarin-collared Chinese shirt, made of cotton-linen fabric, with every button fastened meticulously, adding a touch of leisure and warmth.

His head was lowered as he played Go by himself, his sword-like eyebrows slightly furrowed in thought.

Vera approached him, calling softly, "Senior brother—"

Noah Grant raised his eyes, his tone indifferent, "Here you are, have a seat."

"Why are you the one buying The Glimmer Garden?" Vera was filled with curiosity and confusion.

Noah Grant leaned back in his chair, eyeing her, the corners of his lips subtly lifting in a smile, "Why can’t it be me?"

Vera was stumped by his question.

She sat down lightly.

"That place... is indeed worth buying, a good spot for vacation and relaxation, do you want me to give you some pointers?" She assumed he liked the place after his last visit and spoke to him politely.

Noah Grant choked for a moment.

In the dim light, she wore a new-style qipao in off-white, her lips red, teeth white, a cool and elegant demeanor.

His eyes swept past her lips, clearing his throat quietly amidst the confusion, "Why are you selling it now? Are you transferring assets?"

"Still harboring feelings, do you hate him, seek revenge?" he added casually, seemingly nonchalant.
